I'm pleased to find my power was cheaper than I previously thought.
Rate Schedule: Alabama Power
Summer (June-Sept) Winter (Oct-May)
Base Charge $14.50 Base Charge $14.50
First 1000 kWH $0.077823 First 750 kWH $0.077823
Over 1000 kWH $0.080352 Over 750 kWH $0.065823
I did the math after taxes on my power bill. It ends up being roughly .12 per kWH. The .12 per kWH was based on June through September. Should be cheaper on the next bill which begins October through May.
They penalize me more in the summer if I use MORE than 1000 kWH and actually encourage me to use more in the winter if I use more than 750 kWH.
Sweeeeeeeeeeeet
Shit man my electric bill was $391 last month and that wasnt from miners. All my miners are at my office and my boss pays that bill.

My power bill for August 18 to September 17 was 278.10 and that was NOT with mining. I started mining September 22nd. So, I'm curious what the power bill will be. It should come in the mail any day now. Also, that was not a full month of mining; AND I started out with 10 S3's on the 22nd and ended up with 16 S3's 2.5 weeks after that.
So, I really will not know what to expect on power bill till the month after this month's bill. I still know it should not be as bad as many others who pay .15 per kWH.
My business is headquartered at home. I train telephone technicians for CenturyLink. I'm a contractor. My wife is an accountant and works downtown in Birmingham. I don't have the luxury of setting up mining rigs at another business somewhere. I actually like having them here at the house so I can tend to them if needed. Also, my 3 year old son is here at the house with me. It's nice being with him. He stays with my parents or my wife's parents when I travel out of town to train telephone technicians.
I have a static IP at the house. So, I can connect to my mining rigs when I'm out of town if needed. I can see my rigs and other parts of the house on webcams as well via the static IP while I'm away. I just don't have the luxury of doing something with them physically if needed.
