WTF My miners dropped from slush to backup pool about 10 minutes ago ?!
One of my workers died and isn't coming back online. My 4 other workers are still going.

After comparing them I earned more at Eligius because of the short rounds.
As opposed to the couple of days in the last few, where we were running nearly 200% 1-day luck because Slush was mining 7-12 blocks a day?
Like you said, it's called luck for a reason; in the short run, it varies wildly (I've seen myself our 1-day luck be from 0% to over 200% in the last couple of weeks), but in the long run, it levels out (as evidenced by the generally <10% variance on the pool's 30-day luck).
If you want to believe that another pool has better luck, more power to you - but you're mathematically wrong. Over the long run, a pool mines as many blocks as the mining power of the pool can mine through in a given time period.

I have switched from Slush to Eligius. After comparing them I earned more at Eligius because of the short rounds (and yes, even though the income per-round is lower).

what is another good pool . i think i want to round robin between slush and another pool. luck has not been soo good latly
In my experience it doesn't really matter where you mine.
If you go with bigger pools which find blocks more frequently then your rewards will be a lot lower.
Considering a wider time-frame there are no significant differences in income.
Some people try to hop pools but it requires that you monitor them constantly which does not worth the hassle in my opinion.

in any case check the block time and you will know nearly one full day of non stop mining
