liston i went to bed at 2:00am and woke up at 12:00 pm.  I am in the bedroom getting dressed thinking about the situation at hand.

I hath earned more in this period of time than I hath in a day with mt.slush.

Based on this information I am looking after number 1 and decideth to stick on BTC guild until i die.

It hath given me more information than any other pool in the world.  The blocs are steady and frequent and stabol i cannot ask for more than that.

BTC dose not mess me about and in return i do not mess it about i respect it all.

I am often confused about block time and numbers of actual shares >90% - I am still very new to this mining, but so far I understood that we all try to solve the actual block and if somebody else find we start over with a new one and even more with arrival of new transaction, they in included in calculation - so at all we again start over? How often? After every new transaction, after 10, after 100 or it`s limited? If we always start over - we at all ever try more then 1-5% of possibs on one calculation?

This is the first time I've ever had 0 confirmed, 0 unconfirmed and 0 balance (fully paid).

I think it's a sign.

Hi,

I have a small amount of btc awaiting payout. I previously had the threshold set too high, I have just reduced it. How long does this take?

Is it me or have 12hr+ blocks been really common lately?

I am kinda wondering what the block length will be in about 8hrs when difficulty jumps to 3,800,299,673?

May end up jumping ship if slushes pool can't get the hash rate up to complete blocks quickly.

It just isn't justifiable to stay on a pool that solves 2-3 blocks in 24hrs.

BTC Guild has cleared 11 blocks in the last 7.5 hours, Much better over there. Slush has turned into a joke.

Clueless!

Our EU stratum server is currently unreachable, all mining has been redirected to the US locations. We will keep you posted.

This was why he replaced his server.

On another note. This is the first time since I've been in this pool ( 4 months? ) that I have all of my shares confirmed!

er i'm missing something does this mean this miinng i'm currently doing is not really a 17:13 hr block? or is it just a coincidence?

(the ways of slush are confusing to me!)

Good news, we have setup a new EU stratum server today as a replacement for the original one.

Now we need to wonder, would someone replace something if there wasn't a problem with it? Backstage issues, long blocks, yup...

I don't care because I'm swamped with work, haven't been checking often. Hopefully we see the problem lifted and shorter rounds start happening...

can you please show us with X's and O's how back end  hardware causes long blocks.

my request of u is as loony as...

Poor impulse control.
I'm also afraid to tell you that 'luck' does not exist - you can calculate probability but not luck (unless someone could post the calculation for the likelihood of luck existing)...

'Luck' exists, silly! If you earned more than expected, you've had good 'luck'. If you earned less than expected, you had bad 'luck'.

Of course luck doesn't exist it is a convenient word to cover bad judgement, calculations or events we choose not to understand or have control of.

If you expect to earn  X and you earn Y then a force has acted upon X to move its value to Y - an event, not luck.
Either way your expectation/calculation was wrong.

That calls for an "Argh".  You seem to have some math knowledge, but then you confound "expectation" in a mathematical sense, with "expectation" in some other sense.

Your expected income per difficulty 1 share is (Bitcoin reward per block) / (network difficulty). If you earn more than this per share, you've had good luck. Less than this is bad luck.

No confusion - Expectation has to be based on some form of calculation applied to factors that you know or think you know.
Yes confusion.
I told you what the expectation / mean value of the reward for one difficulty 1 equivalent share:
(Bitcoin reward per block) / (network difficulty)

That is quite calculable. If you think it's not, please explain why.

As per my previous statement - luck is a convenient word to cover bad judgement, bad calculations or events we choose not to understand or have control of. Which is Bitcoin luck do you think.

Your luck definition, in this context, is incorrect. Since at least the start of 2011, "luck" has been defined as number of difficulty 1 shares per round / difficulty (or the inverse, at some pools).

I wonder if Slush had bitcoins tied up in Mt.Gox possibly?....im just looking for excuses now lol...but it is possible...other pools arent having as bad of "luck" as Slush...I've been with slush for awhile now and he has always fixed stuff quick, but this is the first time i hopped ship. Maybe slush got hit by that flaw of the missing coins as well? along with gox and other sites...weird stuff.

yes I was thinking the same thing...

SLUSH controls all my miners and he is telling my miners to not find blocks because mtgox.

on a more sane note...
these 8 hour blocks get longer the more we have...

Ok so you dont know what im talking about.....im talking about the NUMBER of online exchanges that got hit by a security flaw with bitcoin transactions, and Slush hasnt been the same since then...I wasnt comparing Mt.Gox to slush in any way, besides saying maybe he stored coins there. Im saying MAYBE he has been hit by the same glitch and the coins are gone.

Maybe, I would hope Slush has somewhere better to put his Bitcoin - like cold storage. But maybe. Just think of all the thousands of Bitcoin lost forever if not millions, hmmm, lots of possibilities there. They will never get back the lost Bitcoins and Japan has no current laws making it easy to even get lost money back. Something again to think about.

Things are in fact shacking out overall and even CampBx has issues with ACW,s and EFT's, namely - can't do it anymore! And it now takes forever to get checks from them not their normal 10 day waiting period. Is it hitting other exchanges? Only time will tell.

But while they work it out we can keep mining.

Cold storage makes the most sense for 2 reasons(again Im not saying  either option is right but looking at history recently with different exchanges/undergroud sites)....1 its easy to take off with the bitcoins, you can walk away with 1000's of coins, on the flip side you in theory shouldnt be hacked if you only put coins from cold storage when updating the sites main wallet...but you hit the nail, all you can do is keep mining...I want to believe in slush  and stay forever but to many unknowns. Just trying to get as many ideas as possible
**I forgot about bitstamp's problem as well with the same flaw

Bless me Slush for I have sinned. I just purchased 600 GH/s of miners. At the horrid luck Slush is having it was doubling the time it would take for my investment to pay for itself. This is the first time in 6 months i Have mined somewhere other then slush's pool.

A valid reason, first one I've heard that wasn't cussing or complaining. Where did you get 600 ghs now without paying way more than worth? Anyway GL hope you get investment back and have some fun same time.
