How is luck at 126% during a 9 hour round?  That's craziness.

I believe that luck is calculated when a block is found. this run should lower the luck.

i have also noticed that varr diff is in effect!  im a small miner (5gh) and now im submitting diff 2 shares! I guess it dosnt matter much but im not a fan of the increased varience

you mean your worker is set to DIFF 2 for a 5gh/s Jalapeno now?
that is what it should have been at all along, at DIFF 1 u r flooding the pool

Seems like we are having a luck hopper problem.

nah. Luck hopping happens way way way earlier. we were at 46 through most of this up till today.
thousands of Asics got delivered yesterday

Thousands of ASICS?

ASIC USB = .333 GH/s x 10.000 = 3 TH/s and they don't all mine in this pool.
Other ASICs:  60 GH/s x 10.000 = 600 TH/s. Will be fun to see them hashing.

I have observed an increase from a low 38 TH/s (last Friday, Pool luck in the 60s) to > 50 TH/s (> 120%).

But indeed I agree, many People hopp into their luck with asics. Wink

watch ebay. ASICS as in eruptors and BLADES. along with BFL actually shipping 5's 25's etc

But we do get a number of "luck hoppers" and this has been noticed and commented on in the past.

It seems to go like this:

  • The pool gets lucky
  • People notice, switch over, and the hash rate goes way up
  • For some odd reason, the luck goes down with the increased hashrate
  • The luck hoppers leave and the hash rate starts to return to "normal"
  • The pool starts getting lucky again....

yeah and as I noted... It does not appear to be LUCK hoppers as they jump in after a few blocks not a day + later.
it appears more like all the ASICS being delivered and Tested like I also noted.
If u follow ebay u can see all these being delivered in the thousands. some sellers test them before selling also.

especially to note with our luck totally stinking right now the pool hash increased from 50 to 53th/s so if it were LUCK Chasers they wouldnt be too bright

Seems like we are having a luck hopper problem.

3 hours here, 2 minutes there, 4 hours, 1 minute.  Wacky!  But that is randomness for you!

its called statistics. the diff with our hashing power dictates we will find x blocks a day. Luck will causes variants above and below that mark but in the end it will average out close to what it should be.

it would be cool if the masses would accept that as fact instead of complaining about long blocks and being silent on 1 minute blocks.
While  this is true, I will still bitch about 11 hour blocks.  Smiley

Most Def! me too!!! and keep posting the 99.9999% to go it should finish any second comments! haha

The ssl certificate for https://mining.bitcoin.cz has just expired, my browser asks to allow a security exception....
doesn't inspire one with confidence....

I see that worker difficulty now adjusts automatically, regardless of the difficulty set through the web interface. Has this been discussed already?

This was what I was looking for. Thank you.

Yeah, I am getting less reward per block now.

No problems here... try again now.

Getting 503 as well on all web pages I have bookmarked... miner went down as well with "Connection Problems" (poclbm - Mac GUIMiner - CPU/GPU @ 7MH/s avg.)

yeah, i wonder why it works this way. I'll bet the math wizards would tell us it can't happen like this and it is just co-incidence. Personally, i think there is an obscure something in the way the system works causing this. like maybe, the hashrate being used to calculate luck is lagging slightly behind the actual hashrate making the luck look greater than it is.

it would be cool if the masses would accept that as fact instead of complaining about long blocks and being silent on 1 minute blocks.

Well I am not the masses and I am mining 24/7, because I see that @ 102 - 103% mining luck the pool is paying out quite well for me. But pool luck (unequal to my mining luck) does not consider the actual hash rate in the pool. Now subjective indication ís that at ususal pool luck I observe an average pool hash rates which comes to 44 - 49 Thashes. If the pool performs well we get 51 Thashes/s, which is more than what would have been to be expected and is extremely unlikely.

So what I am curious to look for is whether if pool luck is high the pool attrackts more people than would come by pool hopping. This would somehow influence the income in an inconvient way. Additional questions would be where these People come from. No Problem with idle GPU's, but what if a shift from the guild or ABCpool is very co-operative?

Maybe the question has been discussed/clarified already. Then I apologize for bothering a hint would be nice.

A lot of new hardware is being delivered currently. some of the pool hashrate rise might be permanent.
