I don't know how Slush does it.  Roll Eyes  Every block looked at under a microscope. I'm only a little miner, but my 7 day average is pretty consistant, day in and day out. I don't look at every blocks results. A watched block never pops. I don't second guess the software, it is smarter that me. If it is broke, Slush will fix it. But, software doesn't wear out, it works the same way under the same circumstances everytime.

The thing is most of the other pool threads are filled with similar complaints. Mining isn't a participation game. you run your rig and reap the results. If you really feel that this pool is broke, go to another pool. Personally, i think that the only thing that will help us out will be an increase in our mining power. We need a larger piece of the pie. I know I'm scrambling to find what cost effective hardware i can find.

A 7 hour block doesn't mean that one block took 7 hours to resolve, it means that a whole bunch of blocks were found by people other than us and it took us this long to find one before someone else did. The only way to improve our position is to grow.

At least that is the way i see it.

So... regarding the missed blocks and payments, you guys aren't upset about it?  It just gets overlooked because we've been lucky lately?

I am not being a dick, but my normal reward per round is ~.03 and there were like 3 that were .006 or less, not due to any downtime on my miner.  I may be back if I can't do better elsewhere, but I'm going to check out btcguild until these issues are fixed.

Slush hasnt acknowledged block 237574 was missed so he gets all 25BTC.
I see block 237575 got adjusted scoring me on 237574's shares so I made .00131371 when I should have gotten around .0066x.
My friend who is mining 2.5gh/s like me his block 237575 got adjusted to .014x when it should have been .0077x so he essentially got paid for block 237574 and 237575 where I got absolutely nothing for 237574 and only 1/6 payment for 237575.

not much you can do if Slush doesnt acknowledge it happened.

Weird.  237574 is showing out of place when I look in the "statistics" menu.  For me, it shows right above 237575 in the grid, but, if it was going in order (since they are descending), it should have appeared below it.  Are you sure it's missing for you and not just out of place?

AH.... I see it now... ok so 237575 I only got 1/6 it is only showing shares for 1 of my miners.  oh well

Yep, same here.  And there were two other blocks that paid out about 1/6 of the amount due as well, but they have fallen off the statistics screen.  Others mentioned them a few pages back (slush, if you see this...)  I hope they all get fixed but I am only willing to put up with so much.

I'm not happy about it either and I don't think you're being a dick.  It seems that lately the pool has taken second seat to his Trezor project, which is unfortunate since this used to be the best pool out there.  In the past he's always been right on top of things and corrected any issues that have cropped up, not so much lately.

You're right, it looks like 237574 finally got added to the pool.  However, 237575 is still WAY lower than it should have been.

cgminer 3.1.1 says for this entry:  Pool 1 invalid URL.   Trying many IPs - not work.  Have 10 hostnames in cgminer.conf - all working fine.

Am thnking Windows cgminer not taking IP addresses.   Am also thinking is Windows issue having different gethostbyname() function call to UNIX:

gethostbyname Function in the API

The gethostbyname function uses the WSALookupServiceBegin function to query SVCID_INET_HOSTADDRBYNAME as the service class GUID. ...
Returns addressing information from HOSTENT in CSADDR_INFO structures, port information is defaulted to zero. Note that this routine does not resolve host names that consist of a dotted IPv4 address.

That BOLD part is saying you cant use direct IP's. I am not familiar with cgminer in the unix environment so cant help beyond that. However if you know UNIX you can edit the hosts which is generally located in /etc aka vi /etc/hosts and add something like 54.225.68.97 ip1.slush.local
54.225.117.74 ip2.slush.local

may have to hup inetd. then use ip1.slush.local in cgminer script. see if that works. I haven't messed with unix resolving in a long time so I am just going by memory.

Am familiar with UNIX/Linux and variants but using Windows7 to mine.
Edited c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts file, added list.  Can use ip1-9.slush.com now to specify IP.

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
#   127.0.0.1       localhost

54.225.116.174      ip1.slush.com
54.225.117.74      ip2.slush.com
54.225.116.40      ip3.slush.com
54.215.3.101      ip4.slush.com
54.215.3.102      ip5.slush.com
54.225.116.221      ip6.slush.com
54.225.68.97      ip7.slush.com
54.215.3.103      ip8.slush.com
54.215.3.100      ip9.slush.com

That is odd - one of my 2 workers isn't getting shares showing either. Hmm...

worker1    my password    0    292    18878.7756    16 minutes    226.746    yes    1    Edit |
worker2    is secret, ok?   0    908    7028947.4441    0 minutes    705.086    yes    1    Edit |

Luckily it's my 7850, not my 7970.

Seeing shares submitted but not shown on pool page. 16 minutes since last share... Sad Come on Slush can't you fix it? I'm afraid to move anything big to your pool...

I have noticed my average has gone down a bit lately.  Is this because we have more miners on lately or did the difficulty change or is it just my bad luck?

It also appears that I got the short end of the stick on a couple blocks.  Not sure if it is on my end or not.

Anyone else notice the same or is it me?

Be going back 10 pages and reading.  Or back 15, 20, 30, or even 50 pages and reading....

luck went down because of the long time to crack a couple of blocks today. over 11 hours for 2 of them. More than counterbalancing the rapid ones we found.

What are your guys pings to the server, i feel i get less shares on this new server then the previous on short blocks (granted difficulty has got up 1-2 times since then)
Im from ontario, canada just for refrence.

stratum1.bitcoin.cz i ping about 75ms

api.bitcoin.cz:8332 i ping about 120ms

i obvously use stratum address, i also tried directly towards some of the listed ip address's its the same as stratum address.

with a tracert to the server i get some timing out after it hits amazons servers, anyone else?

Each of those domain names is actually a pool of several IPs. When pinging the name you'll be pinging only one of those IPs. A better approach would be to ping each of the IPs individually.

Also, tracing the route is somewhat irrelevant - the route may change numerous times even while you're still connected. In addition the route on the way to that IP may not be the same as the route back (e.g. packets sent from your computer will take one route to the destination but packets sent back to your computer may travel in a different way). On top of that some providers may block various kinds of packets - many (home/wireless) routers block ping by default as a semi-DoS attack prevention.

I know how DNS works, and maybe you should fully read the post before replying.

as i was simply asking for others results on ping to compare, and if anyone has a fully successful trace route.

Probably disabling ICMP packets like ping as anti-DOS measure, or just not wanting to allow spying on architecture.
