Honestly I'd rather hold out for the new RTX 3060's that are supposedly shipping soon.

They have loaded them with an adequate 12GB memory so for ETH they should be good!

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/30-series/rtx-3060-3060ti/
Good choice, the RTX3060ti is less power consuming and also don't have that sick high memory temp like the RTX3090 does, for those who lives in a hot country RTX3090 is a bad choice, your memory chip will die on you cos that thing gets hot over 100°C, very scary

Still to this day haven't had any issues mining with my 3090s...

I'm more curious about the soon to be released standard RTX 3060 (Non TI version) since these are going to have 12GB of Memory built in.

The news says that February 25 will be the start date of sales, but if these video cards show a good result in mining, they will not reach stores

Thanks' all advices!  Now, I am confident to build 8 pcs 1660S Rig with 1000W Power Supply.   Wink
hehe maybe 2 3090 Smiley
No, 3090 isn't a good choice for those who are new to crypto mining and graphic cards, this RTX3090 should go to those who can manage the memory temp because that's the only thing dangerous about RTX3090
he did not give price for 3090. looks like 1660s getting 320$ each 4x320=1280$ and if he can get 3090 at msrp then 3090 good choice i tell you why. 1660s old card and have 6g memory but here you are getting 24g of super fast gddr 6x. and im sure 3090 will give very good results in any algorithm. maybe there will be new coin for them who knows also 3090 will not loose price in 3-4 years. as soon as ethereum explodes these 1660s will loose price very quick.

Both are good, if you are going for RTX3090 make sure you buy better brands with three fans and good thermal pads tweaks, you can watch youtube videos about best RTX3090 cards available on the market, I just find the 1660 Ti and super to be extremely quiet and cool

LOL if you pack 1660ti together they ain't cool no more and you can add the trouble of managing 4 pieces of them.

go for 3090..what is this bull market for?
It's not hard to manage 4 GPUs at all, I have 6x 1660 supers and they mine at 31mh each at 54°C per one, they are all Zotac brand with just two fans, try getting that temp on a RTX3090 and you will be the difference

if 4 GPUs (1 rig) is all you have then i agree that they are not hard to manage, if you have 10 rigs (or more) of then you will understand why. hehe
What's there to understand? I'd then have to buy extra motherboard and build a separate rig with 4x cards or 6x max, I don't like anything over 6x graphic card on a single motherboard, there will surely be some hiccups like one card not getting recognized or having to use two power supplies on a single motherboard

Hi friends,

I ordered 8 pcs Gigabyte 1660S to build a Rig.
Gigabyte brandname 1660S is good for mining?  I still don't know it is good or not.

My 3090's rarely see 60c.. That's air cooled wtih a fan...

So it takes 6 cards to pull in 186MH/s vs 1 x 3090 tuned can bring in 120MH/s... I'll stick with the single 3090's (although I have many more) in this scenario...

Not to mention the 1660 has a 100% power draw of 120W.... The 3090 draws 350w-375W....
It feels like you are the first or probably the only one I've seen that achieve 60°C on RTX3090, most are over 70°C when mining around the clock, congrats on that mate, about 1660 using 100% power draw that's your fault, if you have any 1660 super or even the To version you need to put the max power draw to 65% and lower cclock and memory clock to zero, this will boost hashrate to 31Mh @80 watts to 82 watts, this is confirmed and tested

88-92% power (311 - 322w per card) with a +1020 mhz bump on the memory clock and that's it for 120MH/s. 8 GPU Open Air Racks with Fan's behind, custom fan ramp up in afterburner and a box fan over the top. That's all it takes.
Hi sledge0001 are you even watching the memory temp of  your gpu? I'm sure that will be over 90°C, the problem isn't the normal gpu temp itself, the problem is the memory chip temperature, they are extremely high and the only way to cool them down is additional fan on the back plate of the gpu

Yes and I have seen them peak out at about 90c - 91c. Having a fan run over the top of them as well as from behind does the job!

Hello,

If I build 8 pcs 1660S Rig, how much Watt of Power supply I needed to buy?
I can buy 1 big Power Supply / 2 small Power Supplies.

Moreover, my country's 1660S price is about $320 per card.  Is it good to buy them building a Rig?

my 8x1660s is drawing under 700W. It would run very comfortably on a 1kw psu, so 2x 550w would work
A single power supply is better than two but if you are a techy guy then no problem, if not it's not safe for you to set that up unless you look for videos online and follow tutorials

A 1000watt power supply is enough for all the 8 graphic cards, the reason why I like gtx1660Super is the ability to lower power consumption and it works, the max energy draw of this card is 83 watts, most of mine do 82 watts but few do 83watts and 8x of the 1660 super will give 656 watts of 680watts.

Managing 10rigs of 12gpus is not hard at all. Just make sure you standardize the motherboards, and label the gpus with its pci bus number.

until it gets old hehe
