Both are good, if you are going for RTX3090 make sure you buy better brands with three fans and good thermal pads tweaks, you can watch youtube videos about best RTX3090 cards available on the market, I just find the 1660 Ti and super to be extremely quiet and cool

LOL if you pack 1660ti together they ain't cool no more and you can add the trouble of managing 4 pieces of them.

go for 3090..what is this bull market for?
It's not hard to manage 4 GPUs at all, I have 6x 1660 supers and they mine at 31mh each at 54°C per one, they are all Zotac brand with just two fans, try getting that temp on a RTX3090 and you will be the difference

My 3090's rarely see 60c.. That's air cooled wtih a fan...

So it takes 6 cards to pull in 186MH/s vs 1 x 3090 tuned can bring in 120MH/s... I'll stick with the single 3090's (although I have many more) in this scenario...

Not to mention the 1660 has a 100% power draw of 120W.... The 3090 draws 350w-375W....
It feels like you are the first or probably the only one I've seen that achieve 60°C on RTX3090, most are over 70°C when mining around the clock, congrats on that mate, about 1660 using 100% power draw that's your fault, if you have any 1660 super or even the To version you need to put the max power draw to 65% and lower cclock and memory clock to zero, this will boost hashrate to 31Mh @80 watts to 82 watts, this is confirmed and tested

88-92% power (311 - 322w per card) with a +1020 mhz bump on the memory clock and that's it for 120MH/s. 8 GPU Open Air Racks with Fan's behind, custom fan ramp up in afterburner and a box fan over the top. That's all it takes.

3090 hands down...  Buy a small fan and make more $ with 1 card and much less hassle than trying to tune 4 cards..

It makes sense to have more GPUs than a single one because of losses, the risk is limited with 4 GPUs instead of one, for example the gtx1660 super can cool at 54°C to 58°C, this will simply keep the graphic card alive for a longer time but with one gpu that can do 80 to 90°C anything can happen
I think it's easier to cool a single gpu like RTX 3090, you can also leave the fan variants and go for liquid cooling types, this will keep the high temp to minimum level and thus makes mining experience more enjoyable, less electricity power at higher Hashrates, nothing comes close to this

I would get whichever one is available. If both are available, i would get the 1660supers.
With a motherboard like this:
you could pack 8 of them, remove the fans on the gpu and use 3 120mm fans to push through the heatsink
Just because this motherboard have 8x pcie slots doesn't mean its good for 8 graphic cards

1. Graphic cards are of different sizes, they might not sit well side by side, some are giant and some are bulky and fat

2. The space between the slots are not enough, even if you insert slim gpus the heat will be much, the highest I can put on that motherboard is just 4 pieces of graphics card for better air flow and less heat
Any person that plans to use this motherboard must order their graphic cards wisely because some fat graphic cards won't be able to sit next to each other, you need to find a brand that isn't fat gpu but still I prefer using risers

This motherboard has 8x pcie slots, and it's good for 8 gpus. With these type of motherboards you need to be selective with the gpus you get. The fins of the heatsink needs to be horizontal, and you need to have very small spacing between the cards. Yes small spacing, so ideal cards will be 2.5 slot gpus with horizontal fins and you must remove the stock fans. Check out red panda's recent video of server case builds.

I will go with the gtx1660 super instead because of long life span, trusting two or more things is better than trusting one thing, if the RTX3090 fails it's overs, if one gtx1660 super fails you still have three left, more hope I believe
If cooling is all that RTX 3090 needs I'm here for it, i prefer mining with one RTX3090 than more GPUs, it makes things look cleaner and again a single RTX 3090 can do 120mhs but at least wattage consumption, 4x gtx1660 will draw 320 watts and a single RTX 3090 will draw just 290 watts

If I have this motherboard right now I will still use risers because there won't be enough space in between the graphic cards once you insert all the 8 gpu onboard and that's even if all the 8 gpu fits the motherboard

RTX 3090 is hot, that's a fact that you need to know before buying the card, make sure you know how to cool the card and bring it down to safe temp, also the memory of RTX3090 heats up so fast and you will have to buy a fan to send cool air at the back plate of the card

All depend on price....? how much is 4 1660s and 1 3090?
If it is same price of course 3090 better, alot gpu means alot headache.
Alot of headache and more money to spend on risers too, probably even power supply, a single RTX3090 don't need two but one PCIe x16 slot and one motherboard too, very easy, go for the RTX3090

If you don't have slot problems, I will go for the 4 cards, simply because the depreciation and the risk on the top card are both very high.
Much easier to sell 4 used average card than selling 1 that was very good year ago.
