Probably more. Does copy and paste of copyrighted material deserve a merit ? How much is required for it to be plagiarism ?
I'm not making accusations - I'm asking a genuine question.

He is clearly citing the source so plagiarism is overruled, and for his efforts bringing up something to the community deserve merit (not everybody reading news)

So plagiarism would be the wrong word. Copyright infringement ? I agree it is newsworthy and clicking links is a pain.

Yes is working great  but we (or better, you DT members) need to be more strict to punish abusers.
I remember this:
Merit sales, transfers to aliases, back-and-forth trading, etc. are not much of an issue. All illegitimate merit will decay, and will account for a tiny and very expensive fraction of the total merit economy. It's basically a rounding error; fight it where convenient, but waste no sleep over it.
I've been on DT2 for 2 months now, and only tag red on accounts that I believe deserve it without a doubt. So far I haven't tagged merit abusers, and I'm not planning on changing that. I do like how the 5 merit abusers received red trust from 5 different DT-members. That seems better than all of it coming from the same person.

I agree that the system overall works. Anyone rising rapidly would require some of the merits from DT2 members and smerit sources to level up quickly. There are not enough merits floating around to do it without obvious systematic abuse.

There is a risk that too much tagging for spam or merit will make the real $ scammers look more legitimate.

Well guys, I will say it's more!!!
Unfortunately it 15/24 are questionable (!!!) Check yourself.

It's a big question (?) how these members are misusing merits.

Wish they would. These merit abusers has their own excuses and lately I noticed IT WORKS. I feel in need of shifting my energy to something else.

There are genuine reasons to copy and paste and it is unpleasant to have to click a link to go to an article but there are also copyright to be considered.

I can only say that means the system works. Abusers get caught, legit users are scarce. But that was to be expected.

I'm especially suspicious if people got exactly 100 or 250 merit in a few bit chunks, and then stopped receiving anything. That most likely means they traded to fill their exact needs.

Also maybe we need to add/change some sources? This month we have less sMerit distribuited than sMerit generated. Huh

I would have liked to derive the complete user list, but unfortunately, this cannot be answered completely due to the lack of a snapshot created just when the Merit System kicked-off  (i.e. User, rank, activity, airdrop, etc.).

There are bound to exists more cases, at all rank levels, but it's quite a gruesome task to try to find out exactly who they are without making plenty of mistakes, due to the lack of the above stated information.
It's still on my TODO: combining theymos' data dump and the current merit amounts in each profile is enough to determine the Merit airdrop for each user, which is enough to deduce their "starting" rank.
I've been postponing this for too long, I hope to find some time tomorrow. I'm very curious to see stats on who ranked up.
Once I get it all figured out, I'll include it in my weekly updates.

Congrats to OP, working hard on the forum and now he has a full member rank, his motivation to have some merit that makes easy to rank up. I agreed that what pharma said he has a good post that deserving to have smerit.
Just a short time you are now a full member mate job well done, I saluted at you.

I hope you are the one who becomes an inspiration to newbie members here start with zero merit and now officially full member rank.

If merit is that exciting to you for you to make a post about getting 100(to earn more, no doubt), maybe you shouldn't have received any.

Merit is a reward for good posting, but it shouldn't be the sole focus of your time here, which seems to be the case.
You are right indeed but mdayonliner did not focus on merit alone. I did see mdayonliner's post help other people in this forum. Mdayonliner did contribute to this forum that is why he earn merits. Most members agree to mdayonliner's post and then give merit not because all did find mday's post helpful.

There are also at least 590 users that have ranked-up to Members using the Merit System. I've only focused on users created from the 27/11/2017 onwards, since they started off from a rank with no associated Merit (thus some names from your list are missing in mine).

I would have liked to derive the complete user list, but unfortunately, this cannot be answered completely due to the lack of a snapshot created just when the Merit System kicked-off  (i.e. User, rank, activity, airdrop, etc.).

I think this man (tvplus006  - https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/tvplus006-1311641) has to be a part of your list. He is doing is really useful and really hard work everyday, without holidays.

Almost all of his posting is to do with bounty and other stuff that is clogging up the forum. I think it's time he took a long holidy. Fortunately nearly all of his posts are on boards that I ignore.

I had the same feeling like Jet Cash for this user tvplus006, after seeing the merit buttons on the table associated with his new 🔥 THE TABLE OF NEW BOUNTIES  🚀☀️ topic. It's kind of off forum merit asking IMO however it's clear the user has determination and is putting a lot of efforts on maintaining that topic.

Congratulations, I'm wondering how come you can create 800 posts in such a short time? I registered two weeks after you, and here I am only trolling on this forum. Your post count is just a hardcore tryhard, damn! But, your effort speaks for itself though. I guess I'd be more motivated. My goal is only 10 atm.

Remember me? Once you've put some effort to make a post that has some benefit, you'll get merits. Look at my merit, it's indeed increasing. It's not a rocket science. Maybe I'll create some more decent quality post in the future, or I'll just chill and shill. At least, what OP's doing is like a morale boost. Damn, 900+ posts! Get a real life bro! Smiley

Yes I can recall. I am glad that the motive of creating this topic has paid off. At-least one person found it inspiring and working on improving. When I am replying you, you have now 17 merits. 2 to 17 in in no time (less than 2 days). Jet Cash was asking me why I was focusing on those starting from 0. I saw a need for mental support, motivation, collection of examples for these newbies who think starting from 0 is really hard to rank up.

I'm not sure why your focus was on those starting with 0 merit. There are many members who have built on their basic rank allotment, and have received a few hundred additional merits. If your focus was on new members with single accounts, then it would be interesting, but
I know there are like sncc said however, the motive behind creating the original topic is to inspire new members especially who are starting from 0 merit. I have full support for the members who started with even 10 to 1000 initial merits. I saw claims like "start from zero merit then you will see how hard it's to get merit."

Most of the low rank members (below Member or Member) thinks that higher rank members like Sr, Hero, Legendary receive merits easily and they don't. The  list of 0 to 100+ merits is a list to show them that they are completely wrong. Perhaps this could change their mindset. An example is already here in this topic.

Congratulations! Keep up the good work.

Congratulations, man for hitting 100-merit milestone.
You are one of the most motivating case studies that constructive users can rank up with or without merit system.
I realized that I hadn't merited you at all,so I gave you one. Your guides and posts in general are more than good enough. I have read your posts quite a few times and found them helpful/thoughtful and even insightful. Congratulations.
Congrats on your new achievement. There's this thing I have noticed, once a talk about merit pops up, the Ops history is being dug up and fingers starts to point and argument gets hitted up and what happens next is history. Let's celebrate merit achievements without pointing fingers to how it was farmed everyone knows the merit deal.
- Thanks guys, I appreciate these kind words.

- People have freedom of speech. Your attitudes reflects your achievements. I don't mind it at all (their negative inputs). I am very clear about what I am doing here.

PS: Seems like I need to change the topic title a bit, the community is missing nullius. I do wonder why did he disappear. Hope he is in good heath and ok.

Shortly before his sudden disappearance, he was turned in to a newt. Perhaps he is still out searching for the ingredients for the cure, which may explain his absence from the forum.
