dogs are cute.
I realized that I hadn't merited you at all,so I gave you one. Your guides and posts in general are more than good enough. I have read your posts quite a few times and found them helpful/thoughtful and even insightful. Congratulations.

If merit is that exciting to you for you to make a post about getting 100(to earn more, no doubt), maybe you shouldn't have received any.

Merit is a reward for good posting, but it shouldn't be the sole focus of your time here, which seems to be the case.

I don't understand why people cannot just learn to separate issues around here. You create a posts around merit, its castigation, you don't get merit, you don't rank up. You agree with people their opinion, you are tagged slaves among other things. I really don't see anything wrong in what he is doing. People should be free to do what they want so far they believe they create value and someone who is impressed by it merits it. I don't think anyone is force to give it merit and as at the time of reading this, no one has given him a merit. I have given someone a merit simply because he gave advise on how to earn merit in a decent way and this is only highlighting how some people who have 0 merits and worked the way up as form of encouragement to those who complain about how unfairly skewed the merit system is from the way I see it.

I felt that he was a bit of a shooting star
That guy is probably an alt of Theymos, another alt as an effective to demonstrate that there are big odds to rank up with merit system.
Nevertheless, I feel very impressive with what that guys done, both knowledge, skills, smart approach to express ideas and beg for merits (just kidding).

By the way, anyone know what happened to nullius?

I was always a bit cautious about him. I felt that he was a bit of a shooting star, and unfortunately he was unlikely to become a permanent member. I'm sure he was/is an alt. The interesting question is whether he is an alt of an existing member, or some other Bitcoin personality. Give it a month or so, and people will be suggesting he is Satoshi himself. Smiley

Congratulations, man for hitting 100-merit milestone.

OP is jjust sucking the dick of high ranks.  You can tell that worm is just going around fishing for merit, he doesn't actually contribute much to this forum.
That isn't true, though.  Even if he wants to get merit--which a lot of people do, and it's a hot topic around here--he does contribute to bitcointalk, and his posts are well-constructed, and you can tell he puts some thought into them.  His grasp of English isn't perfect, but it's perfectly acceptable.  I've given him a few merits since Janurary because I thought the posts I merited were worthy of them.

There are many members here who make posts that you can tell are just attempts at squeezing merits out of suckers, but those posts tend to be very poorly written and the content is usually a sentiment that's been expressed many times before.  Mdayonliner's posts, by comparison, are constructive and he's done a good job reporting cheaters.  I respect anyone who does that, unless they prove themselves to somehow be a scumbag otherwise, and that has happened.

I'm not getting involved in this beef between xtraelv and mdayonliner any more than I have and won't unless it becomes very obvious that something is amiss.  At present I have no problems with either member.

Is there really only 3 posters who have ranked up since the Merit system was introduced?
No, I don't think that's true.  There was a thread about members who've ranked up since the end of January, and there were more than three if I recall correctly.  And I am glad that there haven't been many people ranking up, because most of them are spammers and don't deserve to.

By the way, anyone know what happened to nullius?

...and trash your life with it?
Where did you get this idea LOL
My life is very much ok, in fact better than the average (with due respect) people.

Update:
I was reading the whole thread and was astonished how it seems more like a war zone than anything else.
- Everyone has their own freedom of speech however making it a war zone - really is a pity. May be they feel good by doing it. Let them be - who cares.

By the way thanks for the wish mate. Keep up the good works.

Congratulation on your first 0,1K Merits!

I was reading the whole thread and was astonished how it seems more like a war zone than anything else. It seems that, over time, this kind of topic doesn’t provide the excitement that the initial ones created, where champagne bottles were being virtually uncorked throughout the thread, injecting intravenous moral for the OP while petting the ego gently.
Perhaps there could be a subsection for merit achievements, but the thread would be pretty rawboned…

I am gonna ignore xtraelv and digaran types. The added section under the OP explains it better. It's ok not to waste the time in negative energy.

Thank you EVERYONE for all the good words and wishes. I really appreciate it.

I'm not sure why your focus was on those starting with 0 merit. There are many members who have built on their basic rank allotment, and have received a few hundred additional merits. If your focus was on new members with single accounts, then it would be interesting, but
I know there are like sncc said however, the motive behind creating the original topic is to inspire new members especially who are starting from 0 merit. I have full support for the members who started with even 10 to 1000 initial merits. I saw claims like "start from zero merit then you will see how hard it's to get merit."

Most of the low rank members (below Member or Member) thinks that higher rank members like Sr, Hero, Legendary receive merits easily and they don't. The  list of 0 to 100+ merits is a list to show them that they are completely wrong. Perhaps this could change their mindset. An example is already here in this topic.

I suspect that some in your list could be alts of established members.. That's just a guess, and I haven't done any investigation.
I actually did not have it in mind but isn't it a prove that getting merit is not how they (new members) look at it when they start from nothing?

I'm wondering how come you can create 800 posts in such a short time? I registered two weeks after you, and here I am only trolling on this forum. Your post count is just a hardcore tryhard, damn! But, your effort speaks for itself though. I guess I'd be more motivated. My goal is only 10 atm.
I do not have a day job to do or any active business that requires a lot of time. So mostly, all day I spend on the forum.  Grin
I am glad the topic gives you positive vibe. Hang on here and you will reach your goal sooner or later.

Are you meaning them? Nice joke btw  Smiley

Edit: Oh by the way, I think I just discovered xtraelv has been abusing the merit system. If DT members could check his merit summary you will see that he has been exchanging merit with user Lafu back and forth.

Edit 2: Well, I think OP beat me to it, I hope some DT members could check on this guy. Ref: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.37797512

Everything about this post is what's wrong with the forum... you're clearly bragging about merit farming on a post to congratulate yourself to farm more merit.

Here are some highlights I've been gathering about your method:

Talk down to people you are in the pool with to separate yourself out. (check)
Constantly make your accomplishments seem like normality to make other's complaining about it seem like crybabies to appeal to longtime posters. (check)
Constantly post only in merit relevant posts and also act condescending towards others and to draw attention to your posts. (check)
Make milestone posts bragging about merit to in essence be front page newsworthy to farm more merit. (check)
Congratulate all your haters to seem like you're above it. (check)

You really got it, dude... you have found the perfect way of manipulating the system, and a deadset formula to how to push it into your favor... wonder what happens when everyone becomes carbon copies of you... imagine how really great this forum will really be.

I used to want to play this game when I first started.  But the more I see you abuse it, the less interested I really am.

Surely we can all agree that one one word posts that aren't in English isn't a good way of determining ranks.. and obviously, activity wasn't the solution to this problem... but is this as an example above, what people really wanted in this system?  He isn't the problem.. the fact that this as a strategy and works, in my opinion, is.

My 2 pesos... take it or leave it.

Oh & fuck all the jealous posters in here trying to belittle your achievements, they’re only jealous.

I'm certainly not jealous of the time OP spends merit farming. I just think he's trying to utilize tactics that have worked for others to gain additional merit. He even referenced these threads that have previously been posted to celebrate rankings that have received merit. I simply believe there's an ulterior motive to this and don't approve of kool-aid sipping echo chamber merit threads. If members continue to receive merit for these, we're setting a precedent that will lead to more 'YAY 100 MERIT' threads. I'm over it.

I think it's fascinating that so many members+ delete posts that aren't receiving merit prior to the server updating activity count in order to make it seem like they have a higher quality contribution. We regularly condemn newbies for posting too much, but completely ignore members+ who have posted hundreds of times in 2 weeks because they know how to game the system. Seems slightly hypocritical to me.

Congrats OP. I'd say some people are just plain jealous that they can't earn as much merit as you did. sMerits are pretty much limited by now and I don't think you have cheated your way to get that much merit. The fact is, I think everybody that gave you merit is conscious enough to decide for themselves if you do deserve to receive that merit. Looking at your merit, you received plenty of merit from people that would likely not give merit just for kicks.

Congratulations!
I hope that those who have gotten their 100 merit could also help me to attain such by sponsoring a puzzle.
I am focusing on giving merit too thru a Bitcoin Forum Puzzle.
The Bitcoin related Cryptographic Puzzle could be sponsored by a member (giver of reward merit);
Once another user cracked and successfully answer the puzzle, a merit reward will be given.
You can visit the thread here at https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.32048143
Again congratulations, btw a user who have posted more than 150 before merit started could have acquired initial 10 merit.

Well, congratulations for what you have achieved, but is it really important to create a thread and let everyone know that you have ranked up by getting Merits?
I believe people showing off their intelligence in the sense of Merits don't really care about the forum or its quality, but they are only here to rank up and get the status of being intelligent or something, so that people in the forum see them like that.
If someone really cares about the forum, they won't care if they are getting a lot of Merits or nothing at all (they will get a lot most probably, if they only care about the forum), but they will just continue doing what they have been doing without all this celebrations and all.
I know it is not bad to feel good when you achieve something, but reacting like this makes it look like it all revolves around yourself and never has been about the thing you have been putting your efforts to.
That is what I think, and I'm not someone who thinks he is always right. So, it can be wrong.
Cheers.
