Well if i had $5000 i would have invested half in ethereum as it seems to have a promising future and with drop in bitcoins ehtereum will increase because ethereum are great for long term investment and now their prices are low so now it's perfect time to buy them.And other half of course, I'll invest in bitcoins but i will wait for the drop as segwit2x was cancelled bitcoins will drop quite a lot and when the prices are low that it the perfect time to buy.While investing always buy at low and sell at high.
I started a couple of mounths ago so I'm very noob, I mainly invested in BTC but reserved some lesser amounts seeking for alts I could in consider in some way undervalued. XVG, XLM, ZEN, PIVX mi choice alongside most "trustworthy" XMR, XRP, etc... I diversify even small amounts trying to benefit from the growth of the whole market.
If i have 5000 dollars i will invest in two icos, paypie (PPP) and populous , because I've heard that both of them will pumped up in 2018.

Half into bitcoin and then the other half spilt amongst the top 10 currencies with the market % they have. Simple as pie
$ 5000 I will buy some for BTC and ETH and also will buy coins that may have a good future like CTR, Postoken and many more coins that have not been released and will still enter into the world of cryptocurrency in the future.
I will invest the 80% of 5000$ to Bitcoin because there is sure profit in bitcoin. 10% in ETH and the other 10% in Bitcoin cash because i think their price now is also increasing.
If I had 5000 usd, I would invest 60-70% of total amount in bitcoin, because bitcoin is the king of the cryptocurrency and I think that bitcoin's value will only raise. The rest of the money I would invest in ethereum, maybe some amount in monero and some smaller percentage of the total amount in ICO.

I am sure that having this sum of money, it will be wise to invest it not only in Bitcoins as many guys do it now. There are many altcoins that show good dynamics and stability. I will invest a part of this sum into Monero, ETH, DASH, Ripple and probably NEO.
bitcoin, bitcoin cash & ethereum
Minexcoin is a good and future coin. It is used bitcoin coding with some features. It is live in livecoin. The price is 0.0014 btc now. I hold it better then waves, and BCH. I don't like bch team. they are greedy sucker groups the same as segwit2x team. fuck them all. If they want to create new coin do as minexteam.

Only the legitimate ones will stay. So that being said, attributing more % of your portfolio to BTC and ETH would be a 'safe' choice while the % you are willing to lose can put in altcoins for higher upside. Some promising altcoins would be KNC and ZRX (mid caps - decentralized exchanges/protocol will definitely be huge in the future), TRST (Decentralized lending platform & CEO worked in google before, great team and advised by Vitalik, platform will be out soon), EVX (Offering blockchain based microlending, remittances and merchant payments to underserved individuals and SMEs in Asia and globally - great future ahead and lower cap as compared to OMG)
There are many more interesting altcoins to look at, take your time to explore this young yet innovative space

If you have 5000 dollars in your wallet. Buy waves coin because this coin have potential to increase more in the future. Because when J first see this coin I believe it will increase the price. And many people here in this forum believe also waves coin is the next ethereum so if you have that amount you can buy a lpt of waves coin and once the price increase you will earn a lot of profit.
Bitcoin and Ethereum
If I have 5000 USD, I will invest in bitcoin and ethereun .There is no cryptocurrency comparable to them .Be it long term or short term investment plan. Bitcoin it is to me then ethereum is my second choice.
That is the safest path but at the same time it is the longest, if you want to get more profits then it could be a good idea to invest in good altcoins but that have yet to reach such high market caps, so investing in coins like litecoin may seem like a better idea for those that want to get more profits in a shorter period of time.
I would divide that 5000 into portion and invest each portion in a different project or coin. That's called diversification. It doesn't make sense, or at least is not very safe to put all the 5000 in one coin, BTC for example or ETH, what's better is to split that amount in like 500 each (10 portions) and invest each portion in a different project. In that way, if a project fails you won't be left with nothing, and at the same time you increase your chances of landing a hit, because you're invested in ten projects.
Ok I think 5000 USD is a pretty good amount for investing. First of all as bitcoin is giving so much of profits to the people now a days i would invest around 50 percent of it in bitcoins. Next i would like to invest around 25% of total in Etherium and save the rest of the money.
With 5000USD, I will invest in a lot of altcoins
I will buy altcoins immediately. After Segwit2x is canceled, altcoins price has recovered strongly. I will buy now and wait about 3 days to sell. I think I can get big profit.
If I were you I would invest in alts which are not rised a lot yet. I believe that btc dominance rate will reduce to 45% and many alts will grow significantly next few weeks/months.
I will invest all that to increase my profits in the future, because I strongly believe in investing in bitcoin.
I also want a stable bitcoin, let me be trading, but btc always up and beyond my prediction, yes it's good that has invested a lot.
