It is there to prevent spam, and IMO it is working.

sometimes I've seen 360 second messages when I'm trying to make my first post in days/hours.

It's a crazy long wait time.

anytime I get a message like that I just wait for however long it says and usually the problem goes away.  Not sure if this is based on account activity or status.  Just posting how it works when this happens on my end.

It is based entirely on account activity.  The higher the activity, the lower seconds you need to wait in between each post.
I have 182 activity; a few seconds is all I need to wait between each post.  Be patient guys, and soon you'll be able to post your ideas and opinions at the pace you want to.

Good to hear it!
I'm a newbie and I want to take part in some specific threads relating to my mining pool but have to wait... guess I can always join them on IRC!

Grr I just tried to post that and got told I've got a 360 second wait...

It is actually much more than just 6 minutes. I posted my first message over 60 minutes ago and have been getting 360 seconds between posts error! So it more likely 3600 seconds.

Udet4food,

I'm not sure this is the first time I tried post using my phone, but oddly enough Im noy able to find this post on my cpu.
Starting a new post is the problem, no matter how long I wait. Could it be a cookie issue?

No matter how long I wait to make a new post I get this message:

The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago. Please try again later. No matter how long I wait to make a new post I get this message:

That happens a lot for newbs. It goes after a while. Try making sure you wait the full 6 minutes before you try and post again.

The more posts you have the shorter the time allowed between them.

its still nearly 1m after 1,000 posts as its the amount of time you have been a member aswell

I know it says one minute for me, but I'm sure it's actually less. Might try time it next time  Cheesy.

I think it is just lower ranks, it probably gets reduced as your rank increases

Thank you to everyone who have me information, I am a member and now there is a one minute limit, so I can make more posts.  Once again, thank you all.

I cannot even post a single message.. I always get "The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago. Please try again later. "

/Edit: Yay my first post finally!

So it doesn't get much easier unless you're a veteran.
