Have a bash at solo, I mined 2 blocks in the first 36 hours of mining with only 11Mh/s on just one HD7870, and everyone told me solo with only 11Mh/s was pointless.
10eth in less than a week.  Cheesy  Don't you just love it.

You can always switch to a pool after a week if you don't get lucky.

My best advice for you is..... take advice from people that seem happy, and ignore the miserable miners that moan and complain.  You may not get rich either way but you will enjoy it all the more.

But then i am only a few miles away from "GCHQ Bude" so my connection is the best in the world.

All the information you need is there on greaterninja's post. Don't listen to guys who never mined single block.

Eth is really fast coin, if you have a reliable network connection with low latency you will find blocks. I earned better solo than pool with only 100MH when nethash was 0.5TH.

well now it's 9x higher, also factor in the diff that it isn't linear with the hash, but probably higher so you most likely need more than 9x your old hashrate, which was 100MH

As someone who usually solo mines it really depends on your internet connection and your ability to administrate your servers, miners, and the environment

If you have low latency to most servers and high upload + download, then I'd say solo mine.
Solo mining involves keeping your server up, keeping the power on, keeping the miners up, monitoring hash rate.
The plus of Solo mining is that you get the transaction fees + uncles + block rewards.

Solo mining requires lots of monitoring and lots of patience.
For example I could find 6-8 blocks in one day or it can be 8 days before I find a block.  This sort of variance can make one doubt their situation or go nuts.

i would do solo if you add another 0 to your hashrate, that hashrate was good 3-5 months ago to solo mine not now anymore

That is right. If you have 5 to 10GH/s and have a very good network connection, you can do solo mining.

Pool.  With network hash rate over 4th 700mh is very little.  700/4000000 = 0.0175% chance of finding the block roughly.

As title, I expect a block every 0.97 days but as we know, That can vary, A lot.

Pool. Mining solo is all about luck. With the difficulty increasing, it will become harder and harder each day to mine it. Calculate how much ETH you would get per day from pool mining, and compare it to the stats you have got from the solo mining calculator. Wish you the best!

I agree with it. I don't recommend solo that it requires the right setting for you to have a block. It is very hard for the noobs to adjust their own geth server and update their nodes especially if they do no know the right setting for this. But, solo mining gives higher return if all settings are perfectly modified. Now, when it comes to pool mining, you will not have to calibrate the settings as they are the one who will do it. Of course, the returns are much lower compared to a solo mining that is perfectly set. But the risk of not getting a block is lower.
