Can I withdraw my balance from bittrex to cryptopia rn, guys? Or I need set up any wallet to withdraw my 8bit? Sad

Theoretically you can, as Bittrex has opened theire wallet and is on the right chain, so your coins should appear in the Cryptopia balance after Cryptopia syncs to the right chain and opens their wallet.. But better to wait for the Cryptopia to resolve the situation with their wallet before depositing any 8BIT there.

Try to find out how long Bittrex will keep their wallet active. If they are going to remove it soon, you have two options: either to take the risk and transfer the coins to Cryptopia deposit address, or install the wallet and transfer them to your local address. You can sync the wallet using the snapshots provided lately in this thread.

https://join.slack.com/t/go8bit/shared_invite/MjE0ODE4NzU2NDA0LTE1MDA0NjU2MzAtZjU3MzIwMzVkYw  is the slack invite

A quick FAQ:

Yes its 112 coins per masternode, no that's not changing don't worry.
There was a fork issue, its getting sorted,
bitrex has reopened their wallet, we don't know if the coin will be relisted, the dev is in talks.
Cryptopia allows buying and selling of 8bit, but not withdrawing. They say they are investigating the fork. The dev is speaking to them.

The websites old, and outdated. Once the dev is finished with the fork issue, the community can help to get that sorted.

We have managed a return of Bittrex to the longest chain. They are re-pushing rolled back transactions at the moment. When they officially re-open their wallet, I will contact Cryptopia to find out what's going on there.
Besides I still have no clue why they locked the wallet, why people from our community ask them to re-sync, etc.

Thanks!

Please keep us up to date on Cryptopia. Been waiting to get my coins out of there for a week.

So according to the developer, the block explorer and the seednodes are now finally synched to the longest chain, which now becomes official and the only chain for 8BIT. Thats a wonderful news, as that means there is NO FORK ANYMORE!

Now we just need to ensure Bittrex and Cryptopia re-sync their wallets using the official nodes. In fact Cryptopia had no reason to re-sync, as they were on the correct chain. I don't understand why they disabled the wallet and started re-sync, probably someone pushed them.

I don't know whether anyone from Bittrex and Cryptopia reads this, but just in case - there is nothing to investigate now, just sync your wallet using te nodes above! Would be great if someone from exchanges update us here...

I have also contacted Cryptiopia concerning the wallet being in maintenance. Here is there reply:

    Hi robert3harrison,

We are not sure when 8BIT will be back up and running as there currently seem to be several forks.

We have some new nodes and are in the process of re-syncing the wallet. We are not sure exactly when this will be completed. Any questions or concerns please let me know.

You can check back to see when this issue has been resolved and the wallet put back online from our coin info page here -

    https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/CoinInfo/?coin=8BIT&view=settings

    Thanks, Cryptopia

As a followup... while I didn't sync from "scratch" (I used the bootstrap, which Cryptopia says they can't do), once I got everything running right, the sync went quite fast. Even syncing from scratch, I don't think it should take more than 24 hours. Not sure what Cryptopia is waiting on.

Yeah I appreciate you, many people are trying to help but we can only get so far without the Dev. Cryptopia has disabled withdrawals for days now. We have contacted them repeatedly, the members in our slack & telegram community. They have just responded:

Hi Alec

Thanks for the information but we do not use bootstraps or blockchain snapshots. A coin has to be to able to sync correctly and completely from its network.

Thanks

Why they would need to use bootstrap or blockchain snaposhot?

This is why we need you to talk yourself with cryptopia. Members of our 8bit telegram and slack groups have been messaging cryptopia a lot, including sending certain files over to them in the hope that it would help speed up and conclude their "Fork investation".

We need the access to our wallets. Over 50 people are very eager to put their coins to good use and run Masternodes but they can't because Cryptopia has frozen their 8bit balance.

Not a good look for the coin. The main Cryptopia wallet page: http://prntscr.com/fylzvg
People are getting fed up. It might explain today's poor performance.

1. Can you please sort out this issue with Cryptopia once and for all, ASAP?
2. Can you list 8bit on other exchanges, as I have pointed out in my last message?

Thank you.
PS. We would also appreciate a lot your presence on Telegram or Slack. Even just a small clarification now and then would put most of the community at ease. Cheers.

Hi Guys, is there any guide or tutorial to setup a linux MN?

Thanks in advance

This was on the Slack Channel:

This is the instrucions I am following to build the 8bit software. I am using Ubuntu 16.04 on a Amazon AWS EC2 instance (since it is free for a year :slightly_smiling_face: ) I am unfortunately not through the building process, since I am having problems building the file rcprawtransaction.cpp.

mkdir
cd
sudo apt-get install build-essential libssl-dev libdb++-dev libboost-all-dev libqrencode-dev libminiupnpc-dev
git clone https://github.com/bitcoin/secp256k1.git
cd secp256k1
git checkout a1d5ae1
./autogen.sh
./configuremakes
udo make install
sudo ldconfig
cd ..
git clone https://github.com/8bit-dev/8bit
cd 8bit/src/
mkdir obj/crypto
make -f makefile.unix -j2
strip -s 8bitd
mv 8bitd
mkdir ~/.8bit
mv boostrap.dat ~/.8bit

Should get you started. GL.
