I am still surprise that peoplestill participate in faucet, IMO, I don't think faucet is still rewarding, there was a time that you can earn close to 100ksat per hour just doing faucet but that is not possible again because the value of BTC has grown up. All the faucet I participated in then were paying the only issue I had then was that one of the  online wallet I was using end up being a scam site

This statement was actually a quote from someone in a Telegram group.  Apparently some tokens promise to pay you crypto as a reward for doing stuff, like watching videos or ads. Sounds great, right? However, sometimes it also involves you downloading an app/program, which could give you malware and steal your cryptos!

Do you think crypto faucets are a great way to get free tokens or is it a total scam?

Not of all faucets are scams. Faucet was the first thing i do to earn money online and crypto and most of them were paying but i don't do that anymore as it's not worth the time. To avoid getting scam, you should find legit faucet site that has proven to pay their worker. b*tter.io and earncrypt*.com were faucet site that i had joined and they were paying (i don't know whether they are still legit or not).

Not all. In fact I never encounter a non-paying faucet. Most of the faucets I used in the past paid me but it's almost unprofitable(you cover your withdrawal fee) and very time consuming.

I joined a lot of free faucets, only a few actually paid for activities such as watching videos and downloading apps. The faucets caught doing the capcha job never paid me

People who are aware of security risks, generally don't expose themselves to them, while those who are not, and knowingly so, does.
Consider how much trash people download and run without any concern - there's not really much that can be done in this aspect.
It's stupid in the first place to keep any sort of crypto access on a hackable device.
Buy a hardware wallet if you're unsure of how to keep yourself safe - there's sooo many ways to get access to someone's crypto, even if you don't have a virus on your computer/phone..

It takes too much time and the payment is too small. It's not worth it to do. It's better to find a better job!

With so many pop up while you are using that service and it's not recommended way to do. There is a lot of scammers in these days. To do various activities on the faucet site is not worth anything. That's just another useless kind to waste a lot of our time. It is totally scam because the possibility of the owner will be putting the malware.

That is absolutely true ! Most of such ads and such attractive offers are just scams . Have you ever heard about PTC ads ? Pay to click ads or sponsored ads , they actually get paid after you click o their "attractive" ads . Most of such ads are just hunting for the users who are really desperate to earn simple money and they usually end up making a fool of themselves at the end.

I have played with faucets in the past.  Haven't run into any scams yet.  Then again, I have never needed to download anything before.

Most work on a simple principle.  Which is that it's not worth your time and effort.  Places like Google ads may pay $0.005 for every view of an ad on a webpage (I don't know the exact number).  And the owners of the faucet page are giving you a small part of that like $0.001.  So you watch a few, and earn a few satoshis ect and think, that is pretty cool, you are making money for doing nothing.  Until you notice you dedicated 2-3 hours of your time, and managed to earn $0.02 for your efforts.

doesn't matter. most of them give too little tokens, or require too much effort to get it anyway.

Not every faucet are scam, everywhere are scams but here is there are not many of them.

Anyway i do not like this way to get money, better and safeier option will be invest in crypto, ico, or join to bounty campaigns

If i need to download something for faucet, I will think about it carefully, doing some research, using different account etc. Just a precaution. But usually that's only happened in smartphone type faucet, isn't it? So i think it's kinda safe to download from playstore (after reading the review and stuff).

So to the answer to your question about it is a great way to earn free token? the answer is yes, but not so much not anymore, if you doing faucet a few years back, maybe you can gain something, but from the gain that's almost all market get like now, it's almost like dust earnings.

It really depends on the faucet. The issue is that you only get a very small amount and can take a long time to get a decent amount. Plus there are some bad ones out there.

I would look into Crowdholding. They are a co-creation platform where you get crypto for giving feedback to other startups. I find it better than typical bounties because:-

- They have some tokens that are actually on exchanges such as DeepOnion, SmartCash and also some new exciting ones, instead of hoping the ICO is successful, hits on exchanges and then you can cash out.

- If you comment on a task, you have the chance to get both Crowdholding's YUP and the other token. 2 birds with one stone.

- The better the comment, and the more up votes you get, the more of the stake you get. Means if you know what you are talking about, you get more.

- Actually makes a difference for startups as they are getting validation, not just spammy messages on Facebook.

It's free to sign up and start commenting, the website is :- https://www.crowdholding.com

Not all faucets, much more pay but it is only a small amount. So the only advice I have to you is to join the campaigns here at bitcointalk. It's definitely worth the effort to dedicate it to it.

I do not think that way.
Before I download an app, I usually search for his review first.
That is my precautionary measure. And as well as registering Using backup email.
