Nothing lasts forever
Hi,
I am not willing to trade on a daily basis, but I know for example about the 2017 crash.
Is there a reputable book, written by a reputable author, on how to know when to sell? It's like if a crypto goes 50x in one year there is a chance at some point that there will be a crash. I need to know APPROXIMATELY when I should sell.

Thank you!

There are many good books out there which you can read to understand technical analysis and then apply that knowledge on the charts and find out an approximate exit point.
But nobody can accurately predict the price of a crash.

Learning more about technical analysis and keeping an eye on the market and news will give you a good understanding of when to buy and sell.
You can follow the trend and get your profits and cash out on trend reversal as well.

There's a bunch of book mate where you can read such stuff and to obtain some information as well.. But there's a second option and its through YouTube.. Because there's are some professional about that wherein they make back testing to some tools in the chart to see if its accurate such where to sell and buy in a right time.. Its very informative than reading some books in my opinion because you can see how to apply it in the chart and whats the important thing to remember..
Books will somewhat be obsolete and As the market changed, the more we need not rely on them but also to become more updated and seeing online tuts is a big help for us. I don't even have read books in regards to trading but I read some useful information online.
What I was doing and relying on is to do in the actual scenario which is the best teacher when it comes to decision making. Because the more we expose and real trading, the more it gives us insights and things to consider when buying and selling. Maybe this could work for OP.

when to sell bitcoin? when the Bitcoin price is above $60k do you not sell it? too bad if you still hold Bitcoin,
even though it has reached over $60k more and you are still holding it, don't make the same mistake,
remember in 2018 many holders did cut losses when prices fell sharply, would you cut losses like before?
When the price of Bitcoin reached $60K majority of the technical indicators like RSI, stochastic oscillators etc had signalled selling period these indicators are enough to guide a hodler or trader that the market is overbought, just take your profit and move on, there is no book that will give an accurate view of time to sell an overbought asset as a hodler or trader be discipline and avoid greediness while in profit.

I sincerely recommend that you study Wyckoff's theory, there they explain well about each stage of the market trend, it is always fulfilled, all Richard Wyckoff's books are excellent, and Jesse Livermore's books, I have them but in the version of Spanish, if you need them, I will gladly pass them on to you.

Unlike Wyckoff, Livermore became a millionaire 5 times and 5 times went bankrupt, in the end he died because he committed suicide, but he left all his experiences in how he handled each stage of the market, how he won and when he sold.

Man this post showed to be of great value but too late for me... I didn't sell. It just went unnoticed and I haven't been following this thread 2 or 3 weeks after my original post... But still, I see that Glen Goodman has warned his followers on twitter but missed that... I follow Benjamin Cowen on Youtube but he didn't say anything about that either.

I agree there is no 100% certainty about timing the market, but still, a person with large knowledge, good instincts can still do things right without being accurate.

Given that a bull market will end at some point and a correction must happen, just have a look at the chart and see, that a correction might happen soon (it's just an indication not a guarantee – if it'll be for sure, I'd go short with 100% of my trading capital now).

Currently the bull run loses strength by a lot.  RSI shows a bearish divergence starting January – each high has less strength in RSI which is typically a good sign of a near correction.  Also the OBV has a bearish divergence starting January – each high has less volume i. e. buyers losing strength.

The problem is: nobody knows how this correction will play out.  Will it be a crash like the 2017/2018?  Or will it just correct to 25.000 USD and then return it's bull run?  Will it be worse then 2017/2018?  It could also just turn into a sideways movement for some months and then return to new highs.  Nobody knows, only time can tell!  There is no certainty in trading … you have to take this into consideration.

I believe that it is very difficult to guess 100% when to sell cryptocurrency. However, there are factors and history that can help us with this. But first, you need to set the right goals for yourself and your cryptocurrency. Without a clear goal, you will not be able to accomplish your plans and probably will not be able to get the desired result. Personally, I focus primarily on the history of the development of crypto and from this I understand that 2021 will be the year of cryptocurrency growth and most likely by the end of the year we will see a new peak in prices in this cycle. After that there will be a drop in prices. This has already happened several times and why should everything change now ?! But this is a crypto market and everything can change dramatically in the wrong direction that we need. In any case, you need to constantly monitor the information and prices for crypto and know your exit point.

Invest your time in learning things from the books or from watching available videos coming from social media sites, from there you'll be able to established good knowledge from any form of investment you like to invest your money.

There's no accuracy as everything can be used as your basis but not totally can give the exact time table for any spikes.

You are into investment so probably you are aiming to earn the best practice is to keep yourself well informed in any available  channels
either books or social media sites, as long as it's related to your chosen field it will work along the way.

Market crush risk will increase when you hold coins for long term. Most time cons will reach that price in long term. But, Of course it’s a bad experience for traders. Just make your own analysing before investing. It’s can protect you from that type market crush.

If you wanna know the precise answer to your question, the precise and accurate answer for it is that " THERE IS NO CERTAIN BOOK CAN TEACH US OF WHEN TO SELL AND BUY THE CRYPTOCURRENCY IN ANY OF EXCHANGE PLATFORM". Meaning, you are wasting your time only for this matter dude. Probably, some can give perceptions and advise but surely it is not accurate of course.

There is nothing like a specific time for selling, if there was a thing like that then I guess nobody is losing in the market because we are all going to know when it will be crashing, let’s say when it goes 50x, but no the market wouldn’t be like that.

That is why it is good that you have your own target first and when you have reached that target you can decide to sell half of the assets and the rest you can then hold with caution and keep an eye on the market when it will go the direction you wouldn’t want. That’s the best thing you’re going to do, if  you keep waiting for when you will know what you’re looking for, then you will be waiting forever because no one has that kind of information and anyone that says they know it is sure lying.

There is no book or source telling you when exactly to sell.  Nobody knows when the climax is reached – only time and market movements can tell.  If you feel the market is ready for a correction, get out or at least close parts of your position.

I think it's clear when we should sell. The right time to sell is when prices are rising or profit taking. However, if the situation is that the stock price is going down, you need to apply a stop loss.

Stop loss is a term used by a shareholder to prevent greater losses when the price of the shares being held continues to decline.
You can set the stop loss at a small number, such as 5% or even smaller. So that when the loss reaches that number, you can sell shares. This is recommended for you as an investor

However, when is the right time to use it? Depends on the position. If your position as an active trader, immediately use stop loss. Most importantly, you know the direction of the stock's movement. Then, if your position as an investor, stop loss can be done when there is bad news related to the company or the JCI decline.

Then, to determine the stop loss, there are two ways.
The first is based on the purchase price. It's like you set a stop loss limit of 5% of the buy price. Second, based on the point of support. Stop loss limits can be set by looking at the daily stock recommendations. Usually, these recommendations are sent by securities.

If such book exist then there were no people who had been caught out on that 2017 price crash or event because people will eventually sell on that point since they are aware on the price crash
which we know that it is impossible to know the future or things that do lies ahead. Therefore, if i were you then dont stress out yourself on finding that book since it doesnt exist and if
there's one then do you really think that it would really be published nor shared publicly? No it wont. It would just be spoiled by that person instead rather than on making a book
and sharing up to everybody.People wont continue on making their own analysis if these things like can really be possibly known.
No, it's not, books are still there and it only guides us but that was different on how you deal with your emotions in live trading. More often, we miss to follow it because we are influenced by our emotions and caught us in premature selling. Because if we really have control of it for sure all traders will succeed, but it is not what we see, many were suffering losses and blame themselves. It is still hopeless if we have those books and read it but we never apply them.

Even if there will be tons of books related to trading, still, in actual scenario, it is different. Sometimes, you don't know that if a specific strategy should be executed or not. Right timing is quite hard to define in reality. You will only realize it when the situation already passed. So yes, more often, the opportunity has been missed already. Long time experience will help you decide on what to do, but still, not an assurance that you will always hit your decision just in time. You just need to follow your instincts, what you learned throughout the years, the tips and tricks, strategies, when it comes to actual scenario.
This is true! Everything you read might be simple and you do believe that you can do it with ease but when you are already on the actual situation then everything chances and those hopes and anticipation would really
vanished and this is the time you would really boggle up your mind on what to do on your current position or condition.

Timing is indeed hard plus the emotions that you do have as a human being isnt something that can be handled easily if you dont have much experience on the market.

Dont mind on finding those scriptures or books that do talk about signals before a crash. There might be some but those arent accurate but somehow
it do give us out some idea when it comes to technical aspects.

There has just been one such major sell in Cryptomarket after crypto has become popular, I don't think a lot of authors would be able to tell the reality just by viewing one big crash. Everyone would be giving their own theories even if you find a book. Only one time that theory getting true can be more like a thing of chance. I would rather suggest you to play in portions. When you see the market is going slightly down-sell some portion of your total holding. This way you might not be able to exit at the ATH but yeah you definitely will be able to exit at a very good price by laddering the price. Sell a big chunk whenever BTC breaks major support. Also, buy when it breaks a big resistance.
