Question: Do Vietnamese universities get a lot of foreign students?

I could see this as extremely useful if there are family members working abroad, earning tons of money overseas.   Best way to send in the tuition bill?  Bitcoin.  Or PayPal, even, but yay bitcoin!!

In my town there are a lot of immigrants from Asia, working at gas stations and owning their business.   I suspect a lot of them are in situations similar to what I just wrote.   Bitcoin is definitely useful in cases like that.  It's the best way to send money without involving a third party.
This is why bitcoin is really useful for OFW or those who do work abroad and do send their remittances directly into their loved ones. This thing is already common and famous now in my country too and its good to hear out that other countries is already using bitcoin now into their education sector which is actually available already on my country which we can able to pay up tuition fees directly from our bitcoin wallet but just only on selected schools only its still fine though because it will gradual increase on the selection of schools available. This kind of thing will surely adopted on some countries too.

This is very good news. Amazing to see bitcoin advance to such an extent that a university now offers their degrees and courses paid for with it.

Hopefully in a decade or so colleges in the US will list it as an alternative payment method for those who don't have a bank account or a credit card. Imagine getting a Stanford or Caltech degree paid for with bitcoin.

I'm assuming of course that this university in Vietnam is simply using it as a bridging method to get their Vietnamese Dongs which is still king for them. Cash is king in most if not all Asian countries. As soon as bitcoin is paid to their wallet, they probably trade it immediately for fiat. I don't believe they store or hoard the bitcoins as a form of investment for the university.

Good to read news like this.

Le Truong Tung, President of FPT University announced on social network on October 26 that the university with accept Bitcoin payment of tuition, which will be first applied for foreign students.

Well, i don't see a reason against it.

It's going to boost their image in terms of technology adoption or their willingness to actually use practical Fintech, people are going to have more payment options whether or not many people embrace it, and it's completely their business decision. They are free to accept whatever payment method they want.

Good news for bitcoin adopters in Vietnam, seems like their country is catching up.

Interesting news. I remember that in my country one university also accepts bitcoin as a payment for tuition. It's also possible to pay with Ethereum and Dash. But the problem that this university isn't popular and prestigious, and I don't think that many students paying with btc.
But looks this case is a bit diferent. Vietnam university are seeing demand for bitcoin payments to help for foreign students to pay more easily for tuition.

This sounds cool, maybe the owner of that schools was Bitcoin fanatic/user. That's the advantage if you have a big assets or business, because you can add bitcoin as payment to your business of course. If all university in the entire world will be like this, surely most of students, before they graduate are will become rich.

But this economic hierarchy will not let you become without education and information teach from the school and college. If we need to speak about Illuminati related information shared and how we locked under them.
I noticed another thread speaks that bitcoin accepted one Indian schools and now this. Really we are moving in adoption. Great to go bitcoin.

It is very good news for bitcoin, in the near future it will become popular all over the world, replacing offline currency. The bitcoin payment method of FPT University will be the foundation for the popularization of bitcoin payment.  Roll Eyes

LOL. It's a big move in our country dude Smiley). I think this is the good start for Bitcoin in our country after FPT university I think there will be more university and college accept Bitcoin and cryptocurrency for tuition as well Cheesy. The government said that it'll take at least 2 years to legalize Bitcoin but I think this process will be done less than 2 years with current progress Cheesy

Good news for some foreign student there. But according to that article it is a trial and error process they were trying it if it will succeed. And I hope that is the stepping stone for other countries to use bitcoin as payment on any stores places and schools like in vietnam.

Great news! Not sure how many applicant will actually pay with Bitcoin, but still a good initiative. I guess this must be a reaction to the goverment plan on legalizinh Bitcoin by 2018. A revolutionary move from Vietnam, I hope other countries could be inspired and follow their step to legalize Bitcoin soon.

That's good, but take into your mind that they convert the bitcoin into fiat right after they receive it.

They don't really accept bitcoin, they keep fiat, not bitcoin.

I am waiting for the day that companies who accept bitcoin will keep the bitcoin they receive to the long run(I know they need to pay bills but at least they can keep a small percent of the bitcoin they receive).

Reading the article further gives an insight to what is being talked about by the university official and its really something that is worth commending considering the group of student that reference is made to in the article. Education should not be too expensive to get so far you have the fund whether in fiat, electronic or digital as such.

This surely a landmark one but I doubt if it will command the attention we all seek for it because if it had been a country like the United States, we then have the popularity that a lot of intending students will have to consider for post graduate degrees.

Their was also another news about a university accepting bitcoin but the school fully supported it stating to make advantages on how bitcoin works. But i think in this case, their were many opponents that states how it is not legal. I think once you knew how bitcoin works even if your student, it could also help in some financial status. But the schools concern maybe is they really cont control students about their own ideas on bitcoin.

That's a very good news for Vietnam that their very own FPT University is now going to adopt bitcoin. But why they are going to apply it first with foreign students, so they are still in the phase of trying it with other students but no matter what it is this news is a good initiative for their school payment system that bitcoin will be now used. I'm sure that many of the schools in Vietnam will follow this initiative.
and even this will be one of the best news for us, as it has been confirmed by the latest news about FPT receiving payment using bitcoin payment, and I do not care about the foreign students or locals being experimented, the most important thing for the right management FPT will lead the university into one of the most advanced

Nice, if that is confirmed that's going to be a big news all over the region in FPT university and also for the whole country of Vietnam. Well I do care for those people that will use bitcoin but yes, the most important thing now is that they are using bitcoin and adopted it to their payment system and this is going to be a big blast to the whole crypto world and will make the price of bitcoin higher again.

I think this is good news for vietnam people if there is a university in the university willing to accept payment with bitcoin this is a new breakthrough for payment using bitcoin. and I think there will be changes to the economic development in the country because of course bitcoin will become more known in Vietnam so that it can trigger other parties or institutions that follow the payment system using bitcoin. this is indeed a remarkable breakthrough.

This is indeed a good news for bitcoin users. It only shows that bitcoin is being advertised in their country. It will help also students to learn about bitcoin. I hope it will be used by other schools too or other establishments.

And yet another country from Asia implements Bitcoin as a payment method for other than digital goods. Hopefully, other countries in the world will follow the trend.

but this made me chuckle: "Bitcoin payment of tuition can cause negative impact on students, stimulating them to invest riskilly in this currency"
it's not like they're 14yo kids, they are old enough to know the consequences of using bitcoin and how volatile it can be.
