What is the main difference between Novacoin and PPC? Why do adopters of each call the other one a scam? Is it because they are both in competition as the first hybrid pos/pow?

From what I gather, there is big hoopla regarding Pre-mining and other rumors etc regarding Novacoin. There are tons of posts regarding Novacoin as of late. From what I understand, Novacoin (NVC) is a very well thought out coin and process (and so is PPC). However, the market really appears to like NVC since it's now trading at $20+ - So if I were basing it on price alone, I would have to say the market currently has chosen sides, but that could always change in a instant.

New to the Bitcoin Talk forum, hello everyone.

I'm also new to altcoins... just bought in to Peercoin and Feathercoin last week and things are picking up.

For anyone who's into accepting Peercoin on their website, I just created a fresh new button set. Eight buttons in all with the same theme including:

- Accepted Here
- Buy Now
- Pay Now
- Donate Now
- Subscribe
- Send a Tip
- Tips Welcomed
- Learn More

Here's a sample: http://racko.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/ppcacceptedhere200.png

Check 'em all out...

Feel free to use them on your websites.

I'll make more if there's enough interest. Custom designs also available.

Enjoy!

I really don't understand the need for so many alt-coins. What purpose could they possibly server that bitcoin is not doing atm? I have often wondered about them but just focus on BTC.
Maybe not all alt-coins are necessary but Namecoin is really cool.

I have no experience with PTC. Why not poolmine an altcoin? The last days the prices of the altcoins are insane! Try for example DigitalCoin (http://dgc.cryptopools.com/), TagCoin (http://tag.cryptopools.com) or FeatherCoin (http://coinotron.com).

I'm convinced, like the poster Anonymint, that Bitcoin will eventually be overtaken by an altcoin which has ironed out some of the design flaws. Whatever your position on Bitcoin, I really feel that P2P decentralised digital currencies are the future.

I have yet to see a coin ironing out bicoin design flaws. So far the only thing can see is tweaks and variations with theoretical value over bitcoin.

It is only when bitcoin has been used to purchase real good will we know how it works - im sure a new coin will be able to work out what the best way to change. I think all the current coins will be superseded by a new coin, that is not even been thought of yet

Bitcoin is used already to purchase real good and services. For a new coin to overtake bitcoin it has to bring to the table something really innovative.
Faster confirmation times for example is not it.

Alt Coins are generally pump and dump schemes, and in the long run will not be worth as much as Bitcoin (in my opinion).

However, for those of you that are interested, you can check the profitability of mining Alt Coins at http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency.

I've been watching these for a couple months now, and have 'dabbled' with a few (namely PPCoin and ZetaCoin) but have made a loss compared to how much I would have made mining Bitcoin in this time.

It's not so much about any design flaws - crypto works for now - it is more about how a currency is used in the real world, by the 99.9% of the people who haven't even heard about crypto currency. For me, that is TAG..Smiley...but everyone has their favorite.

Interesting about ZetaCoin.

I'd love to see more innovation in this area.

Anyone noticed that Zetacoin has jumped 400% in just one day..

I have been singing this coins praises for sometime now and do think it is one to watch in the future with its super fast confirmations setting it apart, by why has it jumped in price??

Hello

I'm new in world of cryptocurrency....
so I miss the bus for BTC...what Alt-Coin is best for starting?
ANC,LTC,XPM or?

I have a great computer, and i'm going to mine with contract miners
I would mine anoncoin if i were you. Difficulty is still low (14) while litecoin is almost 1500. Both currencies are scrypt based, so no ASIC and FPGA miners (yet).
There are some decent pools out there.

thanx for info
i'm mining right now on switchercoin.com
