While reconnecting with loved ones is undeniably important, the situation isn't always black and white. The observation about individual priorities is insightful.  The value someone places on financial security can be a significant factor in their post-incarceration goals.  Imagine someone who invested heavily in Bitcoin and sees it as their key to a fresh start.

The counterpoint about the necessity of family support to access assets is valid.  Rebuilding trust and communication with loved ones might be crucial in regaining control of one's finances.  Imagine a scenario where an individual needs their family's help to access their Bitcoin holdings. The first steps after incarceration are likely to involve a mix of priorities.  Reconnecting with loved ones is crucial, but financial concerns and the desire to rebuild one's life shouldn't be completely disregarded.

The concern about users being locked out of their Bitcoin due to changes in import methods is valid.  Imagine a scenario where someone with older keys loses access to their funds due to software updates.  Preserving access to older data is crucial for maintaining trust in the system.

The point about the potential frustration for users who invested in Bitcoin and might face access issues in the future is insightful.  Unforeseen changes to core functionalities can create confusion and inconvenience.  Imagine someone being unable to access their Bitcoin after a long period due to software updates.

The observation about some users' habits of checking Bitcoin prices regularly is interesting.  For many, it's a form of investment monitoring.  Imagine the frustration of being unable to access this information, especially if it's a significant aspect of someone's financial strategy.

I was recently interviewed on air. The interviewer described my answer to her question as weird. During the interview, something led to the other and I was asked thus;
The interviewer: If you are eventually imprisoned and denied access to internet and communication for 10 year, on regaining freedom what's the first thing you will do?
My answer: I will ask for a mobile phone or a laptop to check the Bitcoin price Grin
She exclaimed that it is weird that I love bitcoin that much. She proceeded to ask if I am sure bitcoin will still be around in 10yrs time and what value will it have.
My answer: Things change alot, 5 years is alot for many things to happen let alone 10 years. However, I believe bitcoin will be around and it might worth between 100k to 300k dollars.
In the 2019/2020 period in my country there were 2 to 3 cryptocurrency and Bitcoin influencers who have been jailed on various charges and had some of their assets confiscated. However, he remains relaxed even though his sentence is more than 10 years because he is sure that when he gets out his assets will still be safe in Bitcoin and will not be touched by anyone. I just need to ask a lot, whether the authorities, in this case the police, have not confiscated all his assets, including Bitcoin. Because based on the confiscated evidence, cars, gold, houses, apartments and other facilities have been collected as evidence, including his wife's property.

In your opinion, given the long term, where and to whom do we entrust Bitcoin assets for storage? Is there anyone you can really trust? or memorize the seeds of recovery and be taken to prison? I'll forget, etc. Therefore, I just want to determine the most effective way to store seeds while still in prison. Who out there is truly responsible for nurturing the seeds of recovery?

Probably because a more common response (not going to say normal; who defines what is and what isn't?) would be to call your family, wife, husband, or someone closely related to you anyway. Don't expect too much from someone who's unfamiliar with the concept of cryptocurrencies to fathom your passion, I'm not sure if that would be the first thing I'd do, but I'd surely be wondering, especially if I had over 1 Bitcoin.
be prepared core devs are already trying to remove legacy key functionality within core. which other wallet that follow core code usually then follow.. so if you disappeared for a decade, expect a headache trying to get wallets of the future from even understanding old key import methods

yep they have for last few years been preparing to remove legacy key import methods and pretend there will be a separate migration tool (easier to just keep it in core.. but core devs dont care for whats best for users) but funnily enough although preparing to remove legacy key import from core, the irritating narcissist pushing to remove it has not actually built the "separate migration tool" he pretends would be the "promise of backward compatibility"

so be prepared if they are removing legacy soon, expect they will remove other things later..
Any particular reasoning on why this is going to happen, or was it simply announced with no particular explanation provided? The Github you quoted is from 2020, almost 4 years have already passed, is there any chance that it's not actually going to be implemented?

The interviewer: If you are eventually imprisoned and denied access to internet and communication for 10 year, on regaining freedom what's the first thing you will do?
Intriguing questions and interviews......!
For me, 10 years is not a long time, it only takes two presidential elections. If I were isolated by turning off the internet, of course I would answer like you.
First: I will buy a laptop and visit my assets in my wallet/crypto exchange, my focus is on Bitcoin, because in ten years there have been two halvings and two new ATHs, Can I get capital to start my new life after ending my time in prison?
Second: I will visit this forum, because I have good friends here from various countries, of course I will greet them in my old typical way when I was still here.
That's what I need to check out and visit when I have the freedom to live again in the wide world/outside.

Family, for me we will meet automatically, without needing the internet, once we are released from prison of course the one who picks us up is the family, so that's what I would answer if the interview was addressed to me personally.

To be honest, that answer does sound a bit weird for someone who might not know anything about Bitcoin.  Grin Besides, a normal person would probably say that they would meet their family first and then do other necessary stuff.

A pro-Bitcoin holder would probably have the answer in mind that you have given to the interviewer and one would even keep thinking about such things while they are imprisoned, they might even ask people who visit them about updates regarding the market and stuff, lol.  Grin

The price of Bitcoin in a decade from now would probably be pretty high considering there will be more than 2 bull runs within that period.

If I had a lot of Bitcoin that could be worth a fortune before I went to prison and I had no access to the internet in prison, the first thing I would look at when I got out is to find out how much my investments are worth. I believe a lot of people would check that too. Where your treasure is, is where your mind would be.

I believe you were also moderate with the price. There are people that would have said the price of Bitcoin would be 300 to 500 thousand dollars. I also believe the price of bitcoin in 10 years won't be above 300k but I hope it's higher than that.

Mate you joking, yeah maybe trying not to show too much optimism about bitcoin, 10 years from now bitcoin should be on a race to 1 million dollars or at least more than 500k.

I think this interview has showed how much you believe in bitcoin, not everyone would check their bitcoin first, but if you have a good stash then I guess that's what you woudl be thinking about.

I think she never gotten that response before. If my freedom was taken from me for a decade, the first thing that I’m doing when I get out is going to see my family. I believe the hope of seeing your family again is the only thing that can keep you going in prison. My bitcoin hodlings will be the last thing on my mind. Ten years is a long time and a lot must have happened, birthdays, anniversaries and moments I can never get back. Spending quality time with my loved ones will be my biggest concern.

Let's say that I theoretically survive and come out, I'd probably try to know where my family is and then try to find whoever did that to me. If this was the government, I'd probably become a hardened criminal out of hate and resentment because fuck them.

Interesting, not sure if you really faced this question or if it's just your imagination. I will likely do the same thing when I regain my freedom. I have been holding some cryptocurrency, and I must check to see what the current price is after 10 years. Likely it will be better; you can't sell it when you were out of the Internet for 10 years. And you may discover your investment becomes worth a couple of X. However, I still don't expect such punishments that will keep me disconnected from the world and the Internet.

Interviews like this are just too common and sometimes the questions sound too weird especially if you're new to such questions like for example, I have never thought of such question and my answer will be channeled to what I love most, categorizing the answer seems complicated but if  I'm choosing bitcoin I should have this in the back of my mind   during my 10 years without the internet I  never had any chance to accumulate more so my first thought will be how far have I gone accumulating bitcoin or else I'm just in a hurry to find out how far has bitcoin gone but definitely I have the assurance that bitcoin will still exist cause we can't just invest without trusting the investment.

Your passion for Bitcoin might've seemed a bit odd when you brought it up in the interview.  But I don't actually think its that weird to wonder about Bitcoin's future potential.  A lot can change in 10 years! I just think innovations like blockchain and digital currencies are fascinating.  Even if Bitcoin doesn't replace traditional money, the technology behind it could still transform finance and business one day. Just imagine, ten years ago Bitcoin was unheard of by most people, used only by a handful of enthusiasts.

And who knows - maybe one day checking a currency's value will be as routine as checking the weather, or we won't have to check it at all.

People who are not invested in Bitcoin will always find it weird why we love Bitcoin so much. I guess that the best explanation is that they also will find themselves weird if they find their fortune and money in the bank, that's basically the easiest comparison and logical explanation for them as to why we're different from those who don't own BTC yet. Someday, they're going to understand why it seems to look crazy for them on how's our approach with Bitcoin but then, they'll realize that when someone has a belief and invested a lot of money and time in it, they'll find it weird as well when they've totally understood everything and why we're like this.

believe in you mate and yes you are right that those people don't know about Bitcoin or let say that they Don't invest Bitcoin then one thing for sure they will not agree with us that Bitcoin will give us a bright future. Anyways we don't need their decision because we are all know what are the best thing to do if we have Bitcoin on hold.
They don't understand what we understand and experience for being an investor of Bitcoin. We've been holding it for years and that's the magic where they will have a hard time understanding why we're like that. They have to see it from themselves why we're up like that.

If we put our money into the bank still we have a profit but not just big like Bitcoin that it almost hit triple or even 10x  of the buying price.
Banks are good as money keepers and will only distribute little from the portion they earn from our money. Yes, compared to Bitcoin, it's better to have our wealth in bitcoin and profits are incomparable.

Some folks bitcoin it. Losers, honestly. Bitcoin aint just hype. Its the future, built on brilliant technology, limited supply - the best supply. You think traditional money systems are perfect? Wrong. Inflation, debts, all that mess... Bitcoin's different. It's a winner.

Now, is it gonna hit $100K? $300K? Absolutely. Look at the history. Bitcoin ain't some weakling. It's survived everything thrown at it. People are waking up, realizing traditional finance isn so safe. Thats where Bitcoin shines - its the smart move.

Projecting those values, its not just belief, folks. Its about understanding how the world's changing. Scarcity, tech that works, people wanting something BETTER... Bitcoin delivers. The world's moving fast, and Bitcoin's leading the charge. Doubting it? Thats like betting against progress, against innovation. Thats the kind of thinking that loses.

Maybe he just know the bitcoin by its name but doesn't know the real potential of bitcoin that's why she find it weird that you lose bitcoin despite of its negative publicity displayed from somewhere part of social media or even on the mainstream.

But if she knows why you are excited to look up for the current price and you have something balance left way back before when you are free especially if that's a lot of balance floating inside your wallet for sure she will get surprised how big the possible profit you get if the bitcoin price goes up which is expected to happen in future, 5 years there's a lot of things to happen and for sure there are also good events comes at that time that can help bitcoin to get more demands.

Left with me, if I must respond the interviewer that way talking about bitcoin, I'll let her know that there are some Privacies about bitcoin which I'd love to observe if they're really intact and integrified as bitcoin could be and so, she would ask what that could mean then I'll let the interviewer know that as it implies privacy just so how it's.
I wouldn't want to reveal it just as I'd have to maintain that privacy mode.
Right there the interviewer would outline how smart ful confidential you can be to their company in the sense that any information about the company and its operations gathered or otherwise obtained by an employee in the course of employment is worth to be treated with the strictest confidentiality and shall not be utilized or exposed elsewhere except for the purpose in furtherance to delivery of the services for which you're being employed for .

Let's note that interviewers can be smart and are psychological in summarizing your response to them on a template of finding how useful you can be to the company.
And moreso, you might be furthered questioned based on what your responses are.

Since the interviewer happened to be a bitcoin lover, I believe she'd ask if I invested in the bitcoin? There I'd tell her no but I was considering to do so before I was impressioned but I'm interested to know the price of bitcoin first my released from the prison there I could have a guess figure of what my bitcoin investment value would had been in the past 10 years of my being in the prison probably I may have made great profits out of it.
Sometimes the interviewer knows when you're being trickish and trying to hide something from them but technically they knows what you're up to.
So, your confidential response at times during an interview can actually secure you chances to gain the job.

Just my perspective as well. There's no correlation between both. Checking the BTC price wouldn't mean you love your family less. The information about would definitely be they are older, maybe new ones you wouldn't know and some that must have died.

I will bite my ***k if I get to know that you don't own a full Bitcoin just like John McAfee said if Bitcoin price doesn't get to $1M(rest in peace man, Bitcoin community misses you). Grin
What then will you do if you discover that I don't even own any fraction of it?

Make sure you have access to your wallet, many OGs lost their access when Bitcoin price is really high, so it would be frustrating to see Bitcoin price surge high and you didn't own it anymore. Cheesy
Very frustrating indeed.
About Franky1 concern of Devs, I think any new development will likely be backward compatible for atleast one decade.

Well, you really love Bitcoin that much but I think the lady is right though from my on opinion. Honestly, 10 years is not 1 year and just to remind you, 1 year contain 12 months and to say that we se 1 months like a year in crypto space, I think the first thing I will do when I get out of a prison is to see my lovely family, I can't do without my family because they are the last I will want to abandon and then get lock up for 10 years.

If you have spoke to another person that is a Bitcoin maximalist, they would have understood but ladies are emotional and would definitely see your answer as weird. Even a common person that has not use Bitcoin will see your answer as been weird my friend. Cheesy

If I were to be asked and interviewed, first things first, I would definitely talk about my family. Imagine the length of time that you all won't be together, maybe this is a common answer I thought of but if it's about financial matters, like what you answered
We're in capitalist world, that's why money is the most important thing.

If you have money, anyone want to stay close with you and you can do everything.
If you don't have money, your wife might ask for break up since she already find rich man. Tongue

Love Bitcoin but after losing ten years of freedom, it'll be one of the last things on my immediate mind. Soon, eventually, I'd hope, if I had any coin, that it'd be worth a lot and help fund my degeneracy for the remaining years of my life. But I'd be thinking of more... primordial interests on my first taste of freedom.

Particular food, yes. Flesh, very yes.

What do you people all mean about Bitcoin price or family? They waited ten years for you, they can wait a few days more.
