So the significant changes here are that it is a 5 unit order minimum to start.  Looks like about 896 watts at the miner estimated so depending on the PSU used it is roughly 1000w at the wall in the default turbo mode.  280mh vs the 260mh previously mentioned.  Unit size looks to be fairly small so shipping charges shouldn't be outrageous.  Looks like the PSU will need to be substantial as you need 8 6 pin pcie power connectors.  And of course now it looks like an August-Sept ship date.

We have an update from Inno on the A4.  I added that info to the original post.  Specs have changed a bit for the better.  We now have dimensions for the miner and some power consumption figures.  The ship dates have moved forward and now we are looking at August - September ship dates.  So it looks like things are starting to firm up.

Here is a updated info we received:

thats great - I had written to them earlier this year to upgrade my current A2s.

Good luck on the group buy.

Btw, in one of their emails, I noticed that they prefer DHL because it's cheaper - I think this is ok because DHL does pretty good delivery service in Asia compared to Fedex and UPS. DHL to the US from China, should be no issues too.

Yes, I think I saw the same thing regarding DHL as their preferred shipper due to cost.  Should not be an issue for US delivery either.  DHL has never been an issue for me in my area.  YMMV

I have to say i am very disappointed with the final specs. Need more info before i decide to buy or not. Was looking at 2 or 3 but not sure now.
first news they accounced specs where much much better, better than knc titan. but 1000W per 260Mhs Huh thats worse than KNC TITAN (how old knc titan is!!!). very disappoiting
Um...
Its better than Titan, but not by much.
Titan: 1500w @ 350mh - 4.3w/mh
A4: 1000w @ 260mh - 3.84w/mh

The Titan W are at the wall, who knows if the A4 quote is at the wall, if not then it could end up being worse than the Titan.

I got some feedback from Innosilicon that, the final product will be at 280MHs@1000w, a minor improvement hash/power ratio.

Thanks for the added info Citronick.  They just replied back to me also indicating they will be providing the details and specs on the A4 miner in the next 1 or 2 days.  And that they will be joining us here on this group buy thread shortly.  So that is good news.

Do not forget about shipping costs. I don't remember how much it was but it was not cheap with my A2s. Also wire transfer fee's.

I personally think this first batch will be slower than later batches due to quality improvements in future chip dies. My hunch is that this first batch did not turn out as expected although I have nothing to base that on other than experience in chip production.

I also suspect the same thing.  Having seen the video with the chip hashing and the watts per hash it appears this chip is capable of far greater numbers than this first batch is indicating.  So I do think that they will probably work out the kinks and we will see some later batches that hash closer to those original numbers.  How long that will be is anyones guess.  I suspect that will largely be based on the valuations in the crypto's market.

Then again this could be part of a strategy to be able to life cycle this chip out over the next couple of years and unless more competition shows up in miner market they really have this all to themselves right now.  Actually makes sense and helps them recoup any investment cost they have.  Sounds like good business if that is what they are thinking.

well... i'm definitely interested in this.   I was on the litecointalk.org site all the time before it got hacked and became worthless.

I've got one of the uber expensive titans still mining..  Roll Eyes

Sweet!  The Titan has been the efficiency king.  How many A4's do you think you will want as part of this pre-order?  I am trying to keep a running tally of the people and interest.  Thanks.

I'd be interested in only one.  That's all my budget and conscious and afford right now.

I'd pay the ~$60.00 at https://www.escrow.com/ as part  of an $1800 pre-order to secure  my investment.

Here's a pre-order trip down memory lane for many people here.

So in the past, did pre-order mean everyone pays however many units they want to a main contact on this forum "x" months in advance and then waits? eg Money is  transferred in say July, everyone expects Sept delivery, it gets delayed and then it finally arrives x months later?

At this point Innosilicon has not indicated how they might want to handle the commitment to buy, payment, and shipping costs etc.  I am hoping that we can get these details from them soon.  I still have not heard anything back from them from my last list of questions that I sent them.  I have followed up with them, but still waiting at this time.

It is my understanding that Innosilicon is asking for payment up front for the pre-order.  So once we make the decision to buy then we would have to provide the payment for the number of units we want up front.  Then we would wait until the shipment date.  It is not my intention to be the "payment holder" for the pre-buy.  Once we reach the stage of this process where we plan to place the order I am hoping that Innosilicon will assist us with the handling of the payments directly to them.  If they do not want to do that then we can enlist the services of a forum member who is an escrow or trusted to handle funds for other members.  So we will wait to see how this progresses.  It looks like we have time to sort that end of things out.

Like others have mentioned here we still need to get some details and commitments from Innosilicon before we rush off and throw money at them! ROFL  Given how much the A4 timeline has slipped already others are making good observations that this time line we have been given may be in jeopardy already.  So it is a wait and see at this time.

Thanks again to everyone for chiming in on the pre-buy on the A4.  Hopefully we will get some news/feedback from Inno regarding the A4.

Eh - I started reading back through the threads. Unless someone convinces me there are going to be units shipped, I'm not throwing good BTC against a dream of a marginally successful rig that isn't light years ahead of what I have already. IDK - let's see what they come back with. I don't do pre-orders and everyone here knows why we generally don't do 'em.

Clueless!
When is payment required in a pre-order scenario?

We still need info from them imho..ie prototype video of unit....psu's needed...and such..............unless they inform us  we are a long way from
ordering...especially if they PLAN to get it out in Sept (and all asic makers of equip either for scrypt or sha-256 are usually late AT LEAST by ONE month) Sad

They are gonna have to frigging dazzle me with support (45 day warranty) ..community support (firmware available to be tweaked by community on github)
and support in some manner after the 45 day warranty (advice on repairs..perhaps parts available for 3rd party support of some kind)

Most of the above would go a long way fro me to pre-order but I need to be razzle dazzled in some manner don't ya know ...before I ever do another pre-order
