The blockchain is the future
I've not been following the thread entirely, could you clarify how the new wallet will work?

I.E. I have some AC still left in my wallet at Bittrex - will this amount just carry over to the new version once everything is activated etc?

Its the same coins, everythings the same except the premine coins are devalidated and on the wrong fork.

Is there any news from the exchanges mintpal  / Cryptsy?
When they will reopen it?

They are both reviewing the source code now, we have specifically asked them to do their tests/review as thoroughly as possible, even a line by line comparison with BlackCoin or CinniCoin (other reliable PoS coins) would be preferred.

I contacted them for possible ETA, and will let everyone know as soon as I get a respond.

Thanks Maestro!

I agree with Whatzhub that support from small-time merchants will increase the chance of long term value appreciation. Since there is no actual payment processor for AsiaCoin yet, that is an area that need to be explored. I will look into accepting AsiaCoin for my tiny online store. I have seen online stores that offered a fixed exchange rate which I think may not be a bad idea if we have enough merchants to help justify that exchange rate.

Fixed exchange rate is very nice, but it's very difficult to get merchants to accept it, even LTC/BTC can't get fixed exchange rate at most places (hell, even BTC/USD can't). I think it's important to reach to different stores/payment services to get them to agree to accept Asia Coin when it's relisted for trade (i.e. has a demonstrable exchange rate for high volume trades).

Small online stores are good (online software/gaming/gambling/etc websites can be easily persuaded). We should focus on two things, (1) stores that already accept some sort of altcoins (or at least bitcoin), and (2) stores that provide service within Asia as we can market it better.

In the meantime, there are two places which we should focus heavily on, AltOutlet.com and WoodWallets.io.

We also need to put some bounties (hopefully when the foundation is rich Cheesy) for some services that add value to Asia Coin:

  • Android wallet
  • Paper wallet
  • Some graphics (wallpaper, phone wallpaper, Twitter/Facebook cover photos/Inspirational Asia Coin pictures with people/etc)
  • Small merchant bounties

Any other ideas are welcome, as we're now planning for the future. If you can help, even better! Remember guys, Asia Coin is a community now, it will take all of us to make it a huge success.

By the way, I am slowly sharing the new wallets with even more people at this thread (and a few on Twitter). We are still waiting for major exchanges to upgrade their wallets, after that we will announce the public release!

In case people are wondering, this is the current status of exchanges regarding our patch:

C-Cex
(installed our wallets, trades are active, deposits/withdrawals are on hold)

Bter.com
Plath.net
Swaphole

(all installed our wallets, trades/deposits/withdrawals are on hold)

Coin-Swap
Cryptsy
Mintpal
Bittrex
CryptoALTeX
Poloniex

(all reviewing source code, trades/deposits/withdrawals are on hold)

maestro appreciate very much work on project here

there is a small detail do not like : graphic style on landing page http://www.thecoin.asia/

1.dark gloomy colour. this would project gloom and uncertainty

2.hard to understand symbolic ( pianist ? guy seen from behind ? subway ? ) Is such pianist and such subway somewhere in Asia?

not looking much further : on x-labs video http://www.xlabstudio.com/video_asiacoin/asiacoin_video(2).webm
there is a lot of screenshoots which look more attractive than current landing page of http://www.thecoin.asia/

someone might find better yet design for landing page but already x-labs style would be much more attractive

good improvement would be also : more links to specific posts on our btalk ( as brilliant Google Trends chart an so on ) few people would go through 50 subpages

The community wrote 150 pages (100pages old thread and 50 pages new thread) from the moment it proved what old dev made. There are only 4days! We would have now 10k sat for 1 AC. Let's do it all together now with full confidence to new Dev team!

Good idea

Google trend comparison of different coins:

We and BlackCoin are leading the race. It is very important that we get the word out about what we are doing, if you have contacts at weblogs covering cryptocurrency, news agencies, Twitter with a lot of followers, etc. Please, help us get the word out, motivate them to publish articles about us. We need it.

Lol, kudos +1 to you for pulling this out. Yeah, I live in Asia and I know some shops that receives Bitcoin as payment just for the sakes of free marketing/PR.

I can imagine how straightforward it would be to just walk out and talk to them to accept Asiacoin where several thousands of visitors come to our official site everyday with more and more people hearing about this coin in the coming months.

This may not be easy but once you overcome the tipping point... it just snowballs.

Looking good guys, keep sending those ACs back in the wallets. The more in wallets, the less in markets meaning more price. And please try to improve on the english.
But the economy only spins when people are transacting with AC. Bring on the merchants?

Atm 99% BTC is held by 1% of the ppl while 0.5% own 99% of all Blackcoins hence their price. The more held will leave less to be bought increasing price and creating further demand which is what yall want. If 160mill of 170mill was held in wallets, you will see a similar boom as in the case of BC, BTC, Cinni.

Merchants will still work.
It sounds like a flawed concept in my opinion. Bitcoin has its current value because people can purchase things with it. Therefore, it has value in the eyes of users and holders. If everyone is holding AC but no one actually uses it to make purchases, AC will not be able to retain its value in the long run. I would say value creation is the most important task at hand so that AsiaCoin is considered more than just a long digital string. Bitcoin and BlackCoin are valuable to people because merchants accept Bitcoin and BlackCoin as a form of payment. BlackCoin has less value since there are not much merchant support at the moment.

In the coming days there will be a transfer of power for this coin before hopefully another transfer further down the road.

1. For the past few days since the pre-mine discovery the power has resided with the new development team and active community members.  AsiaCoin would be dead without new developers, hence that it is where the power resides.

2. Upon release of the wallet and trading the power will transfer to the collective holders of AC, not just the active community here.  If everyone goes out and dumps their coins it could damage the coin for a long time.  The devs have nearly completed everything they can to re-launch the coin and set the right conditions for success.  The high interest rate is still there to reward holders.  This phase will be dangerous for the coin but I urge you all to consider your position.

3. Hopefully when we are through phase 2 (above) the power will transfer back to the development team and active community when the work will begin to define the future of this coin.  At this time I believe this coin has a development team and community that easily sits next to the best out there and may well be the best.  We must stick together to ride this transition and then go on to a great future.

Consider the specs of this coin and compare them to BlackCoin and CinniCoin:

a) We are POW/POS hybrid.

b) We have a similar long term interest rate (arguably the best).

c) We have an exceptional development team.

d) We have an active, growing and strong community bound tightly by misfortune.

e) We have a continuous reward system in place via the high initial interest rate.

f) We have tweaked the transition from high interest rate to low to be gradual which will increase stability.

g) We have a multipool.

Look at the price of BlackCoin & CinniCoin.  Think about the early holders of those coins.

https://www.mintpal.com/market/BC/BTC
https://www.mintpal.com/market/CINNI/BTC

The market likes these kind of specifications because they are good.  AsiaCoin may have a very bright future indeed but I don't mean tomorrow, I mean over the coming weeks, months and years.

I held my coins before the problems, I held throughout the problems and I will continue to hold after.

while mining AC at AC POW period I have tried to calculate balances of global AC hash rate and market dump every day.
most often it was 20GH for AC at the end dropped to 10GH
every day around 1200 BTC value of AC was mined  - at  0.06 BTC/MH
if short term speculation on AC market estimated as 75% of exchanges turnover ( this is rather low estimate as oil or gold market pure speculation is over 99% )
that signifies much less than 1/6 of mined AC was dumped on the market right away each day
and someone has accumulated large quantity of mined AC ?

Sorry i dont understand u, can u please rephrase it using better english?

during POS ( mining ) period of AC average hash rate was 20GH at the end dropped to 10GH

easiest site to watch hash rate is http://liteshack.com/

at average 0.06 BTC/MH ( each rig gets 0.06 value of coin per 1MH of rig power per day - term used every day by miners )
around 1200 BTC value of AC was mined every day

if all markets turnover of AC was then no more than 600 BTC http://coinmarketcap.com/volume.html   and most likely not less than 75%
of this turnover was short term buying ans selling ( that is low estimate as for instance on forex markets of oil or gold short term plays without intention to hold is over 99% of turnover ) that measn that less than 1/6 of mined AC was sold right away

that means someone had accumulated large quantities of mined AC during PPOS period

hope this language more correct

Sounds excellent, more and more whales are acumlating and holding cold for the long term.

just added screenshot of AC hash from April 23 : AC was hashrate over 24GH then : http://imgur.com/yVQEGPa
