Well you are certainly safe from the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal.

But Dr. Sherwani and his team with over 100 years of ASIC expertise?  Maybe not so much. Tongue

This fact isn't lost on Ken and Co. He isn't just developing a 28nm ASIC he is developing it with a company that has a custom, fast paced, and easily scaled production process. eAsic is the edge ActM has over the competition and its a very sharp edge!
To be fair, KnC Miner is also getting their chips produced by eASIC through ORSoC so they will be one of our top competitors going forward. I think we will have an advantage over just about every other company looking to produce ASICs though.

Fake news or not, The asic competition has kicked in. This was from the hardware subforum

Cointerra, a well-funded startup of highly experienced ASIC designers, is pleased to announce that we are developing a high performance, low power and low cost 28nm ASIC which is expected to arrive in Q4 2013.

To learn more about Cointerra and to sign up for regular updates please visit our website: www.cointerra.com and follow us on Twitter @cointerra.

I'm not trying to discredit Activemining. Just trying to point out were the panic might be coming from. The fact is people saw great potential in asic manufacturing. Who knows how many more companies are trying to bring their own asic solutions.

delays and hiccups are normal.

having experience dealing with them is invaluable.

20nm is a challenge, but won't be avalon's first rodeo.

the VCs are watching these ASIC IPOs and have decided to take a piece  of the action.

or rather, all the action.   Undecided
Stop spreading FUD. The Avalon "news" is fake. The article talks about "unconfirmed rumors from an anonymous source" (read: shit pulled out of the author's ass) and the amount raised is both ludicrous and exactly the same amount that a venture capital firm called Avalon Ventures has raised on a regular basis in various funding rounds.

I don't get it, why someone should sell ActiveMining after Avalon announcement?

We have 3 competitors in the market besides asicminer: LabCoin, btcgarden and Activemining.

If the announcement is true, only ActiveMining is developing a 28nm chip, so it is the less hurted and the 20nm doesn't add so much to the performances.
So probably LabCoin and BtcGarden shareholders will jump in ActM boat.

Or am I missing something?

people always shoot first and ask questions later.  Avalon has been full of delays and hiccups in their history, even if it's a true, I doubt their ability to execute on their planned timeline.

Cointerra and KNCminer are also deploying 28 nm later this year.

I think someone is just dumping everything they have. A lot of mining stocks dumped bigtime in the last hour or two.

Please, ActM is terrible, sell your shares for whatever you can get, and allow me and the others who foolishly believe in the long term goals of ActM to make the terrible mistake of buying up your shares.  Wink
Someone must have listened, or they believe this FUD about "Avalon" getting $200 Million in funding. 30,000 shares sold on BTC-TC. You would think the market would move up with the new PR person  and the update, but maybe some people were expecting an announcement like "eASIC deal closed!"

Do any of you guys mine?  I mine only about 38 GHash, but all of my proceeds from mining go to my BitFunder account where I buy into several stocks including ActM. I also mine on BTCGuild and on TeamAMC just for fun.

It is my belief that ActM will hit .01 BTC per share by December of 2013 and that BTC will get to $140 USD per BTC.

Given that belief, I am going long and am just buying slowly and using dollar cost averaging. The day to day noise (price fluctuations) is not important. What is important is the slow progression upward and the fact that the Fast Hash machine will make profit for ActM both in terms of sales and in terms of mining. I should not say positive things about ActM, because then some of you will buy and the price will go up.

Please, ActM is terrible, sell your shares for whatever you can get, and allow me and the others who foolishly believe in the long term goals of ActM to make the terrible mistake of buying up your shares.  Wink
