There's a few areas that could be improved upon

Few notes:
-The support page is laid out but inoperative.
-Ordering through Coinbase does work.
-Pricing is not indicative of current prices.
-Footer is not fleshed out.

Built it in 3 weeks while home from work staying up to 4 am most nights.

Fully AJAX (quick loads, no page refreshes)

Check out the Fast-Hash Builder on the products page. Smiley

Offered this to Ken 2 weeks ago for free, since it was supposed to coincide with the press release. This was turned down because it did not run off of the PrestaShop shopping cart software. The way the 2 are built makes them completely incompatible. I offered again to make the Prestashop modules for free, but was turned down. He has the same design team that did the SEO on the current site, working on the rebuild (I'm told that he was rebuilding it, all I have seen changed so far is the splash and the ... logo).

Well this is more like it. There's a few areas that could be improved upon but it's a very promising design, especially the FastHash-one builder page. It's a shame Ken's opted for his 1990's throwback design instead.

Maybe if I pitched him something with more Comic Sans and scrolling marquee's it'd be more to his liking.

So who bought preorders from ActiveMining?
Do we have a rough estimates? Or at least forum members saying they did?

Considering "All Specification Subject To Changes Without Notice." it's a bold bet.

Read and ask is it a badly crafted scam or real offer...

DO NOT PLACE ORDERS

Few notes:
-The support page is laid out but inoperative.
-Ordering through Coinbase does work.
-Pricing is not indicative of current prices.
-Footer is not fleshed out.
-Emails come through with HTML, since an SMTP mail server was not hooked up to it.

It doesn't have a robust back end. That could have been built out in the future.

Any numbers?

Group buys sections tells the truth, miner shares

Huge number of knc
Big number of bitfury
Some of hashfast, cointerra bfl and avalon
Little of xcrowd

Only one vmc fast hash group buy, 256Gh/s
Failed miserably...

There is no discussion about vmc miners in custom hardware forum due to one self moderated, mostly censored, unanswered thread.
Sorry, i forgot.
There is one topic started by nigerian guy laughing at VMC 357k usd miner.

On securites forum there is a post about mining shares and ipos, vmc was not mentioned.

hey lewicki,

Any chance of seeing the final website design comps you presented?

I would prefer to keep it shelved, if enough people want to see it, I'll drop the link though.

I want to see it.

I'll +1 that, It'd be interesting to see the current mockups for the site.

Iirc Ken revealed information soon after the first per-orders were made.  As I recall this made quite a stir on the forum as people started to debate when divs for these orders should be paid.  This was a wee while ago and by all accounts, if pre-orders have continued since then, well the order books could be pretty healthy looking.

Professionalism 101 : Don't show unfinished work.

Take the website down if it is not ready yet. Which it obviously is not.
How hard is this really?

No.
Quite a compelling argument you've got going there.
Fortunately, I don't have to compel anyone but myself. I told you my thoughts, I also disagree with your view.
I'm confused why you chose to take the time to post "no", then. Normally, if I see something and think "I don't agree with that, but I don't feel compelled to make an adequate argument to change their or anyone else's mind", I just go to the next thread, or go get some cheetos or something. I don't usually take the time to voice my unsubstantiative displeasure with a monosyllabic grunt. Then again, I usually try to add to the discussions I'm involved with, but I guess that's just my way of doing things. Sorry for projecting.
I don't have the time nor the interest to go into this further. "No", simply meant, I acknowledge what you wrote, I disagree, and I have no interest in discussing it anymore.
Perhaps.

Maybe there is a good reason as to why Ken is not prioritising the website.

Any guesses?

Okay, here mine.  He's already taken a gazillion per-orders and doesn't need anymore as his production schedule is already full.  As will be your bitcoin wallets from phenomenal divs.

The the frikin Moooooooooooooooon or what!

Well that's a better way of looking at it, unfortunately I'm doubtful but you never know.

I attended business school with a majority of engineers so it doesn't surprise me at all that Ken thinks that the marketing, website, and communication strategy are non essential at this stage of the game. As a marketing person, it's very difficult to understand this view, and incredibly frustrating when seemingly simple things are put on the back burner, but this company is run by an engineer, so his world view is going to prevail. Hopefully he sees the wisdom of bringing on people who can handle these things without diverting his attention from the product.

Obviously I think the website is "suboptimal" LOL, but I'm assuming it can effectively take orders? Oh and Ken may be attached to that old logo because it's on the side of his building. Smiley

The engineer 'issue' is not uncommon but it is frustrating. Once you accept that he doesn't see this, you have to work out how to handle it without butting heads constantly since it's progress that matters, not getting your own way or being right.

I think that chip sales and an open source board design (VBS pointed this out) could be a good way to do it, as you're targeting a different group of people and can open different customer channels. Other chips are big and less flexible than eASIC's. Things like a website lacking in taste and complex ordering options are then far less relevant.

Purely personal opinion but I think Ken should be grabbing the Avalon audience and doing deals with all of them over this forum. Compared to selling units and boards, especially in the current market, it's much easier money.

If you're going to be techie, sell to techies. And, of course, do a lot of your own mining Smiley
