Wow Theymos is just ruining this forum. Many people have been bumped down in rank thanks to this new "activity" system. No body wants this, he should have made a poll on what WE want. Theymos has not posted anything about this and hasnt even told anybody what the "activity meter" takes into account. *sigh* time to find a new forum..

I respect theymos a lot, but comon man this isnt cool!

I think he's okay.  why whine so much?

This is an interesting change, I am not too sure how this will affect a lot of things in the forum. Something to separate the veterans from the newbies I guess. I am not opposed to the system per se, but I hope the effects were tested/discussed.

Wait so why did you wanted to get rid of the activity ranking?
100 posts in 5 hours time. Geez.
So that's why the guy is mad
He spent its day on the forum to get the hero status Grin

I registered yesterday, Im not sure why its showing up as today. But back to the main point the post system showed who was more active on the forums, with the activity method anyone with a script can run it all day and rack up activity points.

Stop spreading your bullshit

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

The new membergroup limits work like this:
GroupRequirement
Brand New0 posts
Newbie(none)
Jr. Member1 post written over 4 hours ago
Memberactivity: 15
Full Memberactivity: 60
Sr. Memberactivity: 200
Hero Memberactivity: 400

I'm not 100% sure that the membergroups work correctly. Tell me if you see any bugs.

So now you need to be active for:
 - more than a year to be hero
 - more than six months to be senior
 - more than one month to be full member

To trick the old system you just needed to run a script for a day or so, now you need to run it for months

Really? you quoted your own post from another thread. Theymos hasnt said anything that supports this

 - more than one month to be full member

Is it that complicated to do the math?

Not sure of the benefits, or the drawbacks. It's a wash.
Active users for a long time have higher activity

It's just the number of days since you've registered.

No, its not.

Sure it is, it's just rounded up to 2 weeks.

So.. You think posting has nothing to do with it?

I guess it is a new thing, does not mean that all new things is bad.  Just hope for more clarifications on the method of calculations

Im open to new things also, while I dont like this new activity meter I would have appreciated a poll on whether we want it.

But do you even know what is the criteria?

I think its a combination of time spent on forums, and posting
