If you only make one post and it gets deleted then you lose that full 14 activity because you essentially missed posting in that period.

Ok, thanks guys. I can also confirm that you need to post once.

You guys have been a great help!

Um, another question. If my post gets deleted, and I only made one that week and I was credited 14 activity points, would those 14 points get removed? Or would they stay there?

In that case, I could keep all my activity and have 0 posts! Cheesy
They'll be gone, I asked the same question and that was the answer from hilarious. BTW activity periods are once every 2 weeks , not 1 week, so you can "reclaim" those activity points if you post in the activity period again.

I confirm what sherona said, no need to post 14 posts to get 14 activities/period once you have a number of posts above your potential activity.

I was 70 then went to 84 with 1 post after ~1 hour

You only need to post once per 14 days updated. Not sure when the week update or if its the same for everyone. In the same sense if you post once every 2 week for a year, you'll have 365~ potential activity even though you would only have 54 posts.

Does this mean someone who has posted 1 post every 2 weeks for 12 months will have 24 posts and 24 activity but a potential to gain 336 activity points when he starts posting more later?

Doesn't this make it fairly easy for people to farm level up accounts and sell them later on?
Yes. People can farm account but they can get banned if they do it without contributing anything constructive. Furthermore, it would be a long wait and it isn't easy for them to post so much within a short period of time, the value of the account won't be high too.

Yup and yup, thats what is happening on the account market most of the times. But people first farm potential activity , then make the posts continuously.

to help you further on this question, here is the schedule of activity update for the next period till year 2060 if world has not come to an end yet  Grin
... and be patient, you have to wait for at least an hour to see the update of activity points after your post

is activity is updated every couple of weeks?
I wanna be full member in just 14 days is this possible?
IIRC, activity is updated every 30 minutes while it is increased every 1210000 units of UNIX time[1]. You can become a full member[2] in 14 days if you have 112 activity and you are active for the activity period.

Well if you get deleted you get a message that tells you, so you typically get the e-mail unless you disable notifications. Kinda hard to miss. You can post once a week if you tend to post the wrong 1 word at the wrong place.

Well I know that I receive messages when my post is deleted. My point is I don't think there are any cases where your post wull get deleted unless the post is unrelevant to the topoc or if it's a pure spam. Other than that, if you can post a constructive post once every activity update, it's safe to make a post once per activity update. I don't think a mod will delete it or something. Unless you posted in a self moderated thread which I think an activity famer won't do because there are risk.

if you post only once every period, It is a great possibility of lose activity point,
if for some reason your post are deleted.
Well what case would the post be deleted if it's a constructive post tho?
I think it's ok to post once every activity update if you are farming your account to get activities and not really active in the forum.

No 1 post is enough since they have more posts than activity they only need to make a single post in the period in order to claim the full amount (14 points).

Really? I can't imagine the forum software can be bothered to take that into account. I thought you'd need 14 posts in 14 days.

Activity is the maximum of either your posts or your "time". Time increases by 14 for every post in a given 14 day activity period. Thus you can have a higher time value than posts and your activity is limited by posts. This is commonly refered to as "potential activity" because you can quickly gather higher levels just by posting. The same is true the other way around, well kinda, you cant rank up fast, but without many posts. If you have more posts than time, your activity is limited by said time value and a single post at the right time increases it by 14 thus in turn your activity by 14.

Notice how we both hit 714 today, but did not do 14 posts since 27.10.2015 12:46:40 (CET). Uhm, just counted looks I actually did >14 posts. So check your profile, you did 9 posts, but gained 14 points of activity.

Hey guys, i've been on bitcointalk recently and been investigating how the activity works.

So if you're me, and have 600 posts, but only 154 activity, if I wait 2 weeks and then come online but don't post, will I be credited my other 14 activity? Or do I have to post?

From the moment your activity bumps up, let's say every Tuesday at 20h, you need to post 14 posts until next week's Tuesday at 20h to get 14 activity points. Now you can post 14 posts in 1 day or post every day 2 posts, as you wish.
