INTRODUCTION:

I was introduced to this platform few weeks ago. The graphics of this place wasn't pleasant to me. I honestly was struggling to get acquainted to this place until I discovered how important (unique) bitcointalk is and the level of information it carries. One of the game changers for me was when I read a thread made by Satoshi himself in this forum, I knew I was at the right place. And again BlackHatCoiner dropped me my first merits (4), this actually did hit me differently, throughout that day, I was joyous.
I decided to make this article to outline ways in which bitcointalk is better than social media in sourcing for information about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Please I will need your feedback incase of any misinformation.

1. USERS REPUTATION:
In bitcointalk, users build reputation overtime where the most reputable users are those with years of experience who participate actively in the forum. These reputable users are most likely to give accurate information about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as a whole.
WHILE;
 In social media, reputation is often determined by the numbers of subscriptions or likes, which can be misrepresented as these subscriptions and likes can be manipulated using bots.

2. ORIGINALITY OF RESOURCES:
In bitcointalk, you will read from the original resources and catch the fun in it, such as  I AM HODLING. Also read from the Ann threads of the projects themselves e.g Ethereum thread.
WHILE;
In social media, such originality is often not available.

3. CHECK AGAINST SPAM:
In bitcointalk, there are moderators who check for spam posts, such posts are often  deleted. This responsibility is not left for the moderators alone as other community members also show interest in reporting spam to the moderators.  This keeps the community clean and sane as much as possible.
WHILE;
In social media, spam is rampant because of less moderation and this posses difficulty in filtering posts by quality.

4. COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE:
In bitcointalk, even as a newbie, you will have the chances of getting help from even the most experienced users who could be developers or miners. You can continue to get this help if you remain active and you can even send a direct pm.
WHILE;
In social media, getting direct help for technical problems is always a problem and most times no one is willing to give a solution without requesting for some bucks.

5. EXCELLENT ARRANGEMENT:
In bitcointalk, topics are often arranged perfectly into dedicated boards, sub-boards and threads. Topics which are posted to inappropriate boards or threads are often moved to the appropriate board. This arrangement enhances research and focused reading/learning.
WHILE;
In most social media, there are no such arrangements as there are often general discussions with no dedicated thread for a particular topic.

6. ROBUST ARCHIVES:
This forum has a large data of past threads and posts which dates back to the early days of bitcoin. These archives could be referenced for research purposes.
WHILE;
This is not available in social media. Most social media even references the forum.

CONCLUSION:
This is a great forum for getting information about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I am glad to have been introduced in this forum and I do wish that one day I can become established, knowledgeable and reputable here to contribute immensely here.
Thank you all for reading.

Congratulations to me! I'm now a junior member.

BTC, a coin of today and tomorrow.
One thing I love the most about this forum is that it is better democratised. I've never seen a forum with freehands like this to the point that the admin listens to the plight of people and makes changes based on that and also allows users to govern the forum. It is just the forum of users for the users and I don't think there is another forum that will allow users to have that kind of sense of belonging.
theymos is not a fast implementer of ideas in the forum. If not of recent times that he has begun to implement some suggestions. Before now, ideas appear as if no one reads them. I didn't know if he had the intention of rolling in the new software, which was why he was adamant to suggestions. Now that he has started implementing suggestions, let's assume there's no gonna be new forum software again.

The aspect I respect theymos the most is, creating a system that can go against him. Imagine being tagged by Vod and it's visible to everyone. Most admins wouldn't allow that.

In forums, there's no bullying, and on other social media, there'll be times you have to be very strong to post even your content because of the amount of bullying there. I love my privacy and believe the forum gives me the room to express myself without being bullied but corrected.

I don't think bullying works in the realm of whether you are using a forum or a social media platform because you have all the rights and the power to remove anyone from your posts and publications if you don't want to see them around or want them to see your posts, etc.

On social media platforms, you can delete and hide comments, and block users so that they can't see you or participate in any of your next posts. If they create more accounts to repeat the same things only to tease you, you can keep blocking them and that's it. It isn't a lot of work.

On forums such as this one, it's even easier, all you need to do is either make your threads self-moderated so that you can remove posts and comments from trolls and bullies or ignore them so that they don't see your threads.

Just as you have said, you either block or etc. the people bullying on social media.
Well,  in as much as you feel it's an issue, some people can't still take it.

Why do you think some people delete all their account details and run from the social platform for a while before they can come back if only you can?

The bullying on some social platforms is alarming. As a content creator, how many people are you going to block from your page? The next thing is dragging, and when you can't stand it, they will frustrate the good person in you. In forums, nobody knows you, so your neighbor can't create a new account just to use it to bully you.

The advantages of Bitcointalk over social media are too many. First of all, everything is well-sorted here, we have different sections like Bitcoin Discussion, Technical Discussion, Economy, Trading Discussion, Project Development and many other sections, which make it easier for me to find the information that I want. On Facebook and Twitter, you are lost, there are a bunch of posts and tweets, but it's mostly for chit-chat and not for discussion. I like Reddit but still it's not as well-structured as Bitcointalk in terms of sorting and finding discussional threads.
Also, another big benefit that this forum has is that there are many old members who have been here almost since the day of Bitcoin's creation. Here we have default trust members who tag negatively those who try to scam. This forum is a better place in overall.
Both are actually made for people to benefit and socialize, but somehow this social media is obviously well abused by its members, that some shit and unbearable posts are tolerated, one thing that this forum is very much different. If you are member with no discipline and cannot follow simple rules, then you don't belong in the forum, or even in the social media because you'll end influencing other people.

One thing about forums is that they give you space to think and want to come up with something sensible and motivate you sometimes to do research on, like, some social platform.

What I like more about Bitcointalk is that it opens your knowledge and the way you will understand things. Before I joined this forum, I believe almost everything that I see online like social media, YouTube contents and Google searches, but when I joined and become a member on this forum, I saw a lot of mistakes online. If you make mistake on this forum, you will be corrected to edit the OP or your post which is better.

Apart from that, this forum is clearly different from other social media platforms. Many things take place here that are done in other places. The forum is a learning community, and every member here is here to learn, which is why it is different from other social media platforms.

However, when I also joined the forum, many things I supported about cryptocurrency outside the forum and before I joined the forum were different things here, because here you can ask for help and get it done without wasting your time, not like other social media platforms that are full of cruise; they take everything as a joke, but here in the forum there is no time for that. We are all busing learning new things every day, both crypto and other things.

Advantages of Bitcointalk over social media.
This forum has historical values that you cannot find on social media. You have a series of problems and discussions that you can express here, You have unlimited freedom in this forum and there are many things you can summarize for yourself, especially about crypto, Bitcoin and so on, that's what's great about forums with social media that you know.

In my understanding, social media is only for entertainment for its users, the Bitcointalk forum is not like that, you are really educated and take your knowledge seriously, forums are not for rocking videos like social media, you are really like a student and lecturer here, your IQ is really drained here to produce good grades in all aspects, so it is very natural and reasonable that forums are superior to social media.

Bitcointalk is a one-of-a-kind forum and I must say that I respect this forum so much, especially for its uniqueness. What you wrote above could be exaggerated though because they are not particularly without fault as you want it to be, nevertheless, Bitcointalk is the forum that is trying its best to outshine others.

On Facebook and Twitter, you are lost, there are a bunch of posts and tweets, but it's mostly for chit-chat and not for discussion. I like Reddit but still it's not as well-structured as Bitcointalk in terms of sorting and finding discussional threads.
Its also based on algorithm you often used. If you visit some lousy tweet or view such low quality post from users you often have a low quality data feed on your feed unless you have a certain algo or topics frequently using. But yeah Id like more on forum since its organized. Social media sites are normally for image based showcase not for a good discussion hub.

I visited several crypto pages on well-known social networks. There is a lot of confusion going on there. People who are far from understanding teach you what to do and how to do it, advise you to buy one coin without showing its advantages, and so on. Here, as you rightly noted, everything is orderly, and those who have been on the forum for a long time are, for the most part, already familiar with the nicknames of people whose advice and lessons you can listen to, which cannot be said about those networks where people write only for likes.

This forum consists of different information related to crypto and of course the bitcoin itself, you can easily ask a question related to crypto and people answer with the prior facts and opinions we can discuss here with the information we've seen and share so we can identify which is the truth, these days tons of information we can search in the internet and its quite hassle to me personally which one is reliable so if there's other created a thread already its more easier to us to confirm the information if no one else created yet we are freely to create a new topic to discuss.

Bitcoin is a place where everyone come and shared their knowledge to each other, but one thing how like you to understand between Bitcoin and social media is that the social is only made for making money only, their not lean anything or share a knowledge together apart from earned money, but for the Bitcointalk is a platforms which generate alot of money for people's and the same time learning a defferences things from each other's  and that's why I will never compare Bitcointalk to social media; Because there far defference form each other.

Furthermore, let me congrats you by reaching up to this stage you're which is jr member rank, although that it's not easy and is truth, because everyone here as pass through this stage before ranked up to full member, but with the patient and efforts they put in all difficult and the stress they face has turn to a wonderful joyful today, so my advice to you mate is to keep trying your possible best by creating a good contents which will generate you more merits.

What are like more about bitcointalk forum when compared to other social media platforms is that it is a place to clear any misinformation and disinformation. Whenever I read about some crypto news, I usually come back here to fact check. I check the accuracy from the comments of most users which helps me to identify what information is a false narrative, a conspiracy theory, or the real information. I do not even need any other source to verify any information because the users here would have verified the credibility of the information sources.
That’s one thing why I keep coming back to this forum, the authenticity is present and everyone that engaged comes up with their own personal experiences to justify their comments or explanation. Unlike in social media, we got confused with different ideas that come out with no solid proofs to support their discussion, and you can tell that majority are not genuine posts, something that we always encounter in the forum, all comes with originality and genuine posts.

But, I'm just curious, how do the moderators of this forum get money to run and maintain the forum since there are no ads and commercials to generate income to the forum? Huh

We had a regular ads space auction but it was discontinued as Theymos prioritized user safety among other things. However, I remember it was said, the forum has enough reserves to be able to run smoothly for many many years. It's also important to note that the forum is not a for profit platform like most social media hence making money isn't the first priority.
I see, thanks for this information.

You missed one important  point. Bitcointalk offers us the resources to be able to make money. Social media just consumes time which could have been used to earn money.
Tell that to all those YouTubers/Tiktokers/Instagramers/crypto Twitter influencers etc who are making shit load of money via social media. The only difference is that entry barrier to actually do it is much lower on bitcointalk so even a shitposter can make something.

Thanks for this feedback, but inasmuch social media has lots of distractions which tends to consume people's time alot, focused and determined people still earn from social media just like anyone who is hardworking in this forum.
