Sorry, but every time I see someone post in this kind of format, it always comes to my mind that this post might be AI generated. But upon reading the whole post, it convinces me that you made it by yourself. lol

Anyway, your post is kind of on point but of course, there are many features that Bitcointalk can't do compared to social media especially like number of audience and advertising.

Soon you'll be Member rank since you have already managed to earn 10 merit. You just need to reach 100 activity (posts) to rank up.

One big advantage the forum has over social media is that Theymos doesn't charge you for every rank you get to or any post you make like the case with X for instance, where Elon musk was reported to have had plans to charge users who posted on the platform. He gave the reason as wanting to combat the proliferation of bots on the space but that seems so crazy for me.

The forum has presented many users with the freedom to express themselves without fear of being policed or had their content taken down(as long as it follows the rules of the place, though).
So far, I've not really seen a social space where you can work, meet people and still give and take information about not only Bitcoin but other matters that concerns humans as Bitcointalk and if there is, I doubt it's as well rounded as here is so that alone is an advantage.

CONCLUSION:
This is a great forum for getting information about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I am glad to have been introduced in this forum and I do wish that one day I can become established, knowledgeable and reputable here to contribute immensely here.
Thank you all for reading.
You even seem very established since your first post on the forum - so I think it's just a matter of time and consistency for you to post a lot of quality things and get merit for rank up and then signing up for signature campaign. Some beginners often claim to be beginners – but there are also those who aren't really beginners, but sorry - I don't mean to say you are one of them.

OP, you didn't have to summarize all of that stuff--and probably shouldn't have, because it comes across as an attempt to earn merits whilst writing stuff that most members know.  That said, welcome to the forum.  You sound like you're more accustomed to modern social media sites and that bitcointalk looks ancient by comparison.  I'm sure it does, and the look and feel of the forum has changed very little since I registered in 2015.

Even though Theymos is apparently working on some new forum software, I kinda think he's keeping things the way they are for historical purposes, as everything here looks and functions much like it did when Satoshi was around (that's an assumption on my part, since I was not a member back in 2009).  IMO that's commendable and in fact very cool.

By the way, if you plan on sticking around and making posts with any kind of honesty, be prepared for criticism if not outright hostility at times.  In other words, I hope you have a thick skin on you because some members can be quite prickly.  Best of luck to you, m'man.

**In BTC since 2013**
I think that Bitcointalk and social media is too much different things, used for different purpooses and shouldn't be compared. It's like comparing apple and burger.

In reality, a forum (whatever it may be) is a social network. The difference is in the form of interaction between users, and the associated purposes.

So the difference is not between an apple and a hamburger. Before, it's between an apple and a tomato, both are fruits, but they have quite different uses.  Wink

An obvious difference between the bitcointalk forum and other social media platforms is their purpose for the creation. As the name implies it is created mainly for the promotion and discussion of  bitcoin and, cryptocurrency wholly. Unlike social media platforms where everything goes.

The forum unlike social media takes plagiarism seriously and we have seen how accounts are banned either permanently or temporarily due to plagiarism. But I haven't seen or read where an account was ban on social platforms like FB or X for plagiarism.

Coordination in the forum is very different from any other social platforms I can think of...

There’s very little or zero Woke bull shit on this forum. The rules aren’t too strict, I really don’t like authority. This forum is the most informative source I have ever come across for Bitcoin related information and advice. I’ve met some of the most interesting and nice, friendly people in my lifetime by striking up RL friendships with people from this forum. I have learnt more, extracting more knowledge from fiscal, self sovereign intellectuals here than I did during my years at school.

Social media mostly sucks, I use X for sports news and fast, real time (almost) Bitcoin news. I have Facebook and Instagram but don’t use them much these days. I tapped a lot of ass meeting girls from various online platforms years ago but Bitcointalk.org wins every time over modern day social media.

What are like more about bitcointalk forum when compared to other social media platforms is that it is a place to clear any misinformation and disinformation. Whenever I read about some crypto news, I usually come back here to fact check. I check the accuracy from the comments of most users which helps me to identify what information is a false narrative, a conspiracy theory, or the real information. I do not even need any other source to verify any information because the users here would have verified the credibility of the information sources.

Goodnight, o_e_l_e_o 🌹
This is a great effort OP, keep it up. I checked your post history and it seems you are putting some efforts in research, keeping improving yourself and a time will come when you will look back at today and smile.

What I like more about Bitcointalk is that it opens your knowledge and the way you will understand things. Before I joined this forum, I believe almost everything that I see online like social media, YouTube contents and Google searches, but when I joined and become a member on this forum, I saw a lot of mistakes online. If you make mistake on this forum, you will be corrected to edit the OP or your post which is better.

Where I love BTT the most is in terms of discussion. If wrong information is given out, someone will step in immediately to correct and discussion will continue to flow. Some years later you will still find that discussion with ease.

Your points is good, but I don't agree with few aspects. Like Reputation, I think it's not problem to build reputation on social media. Blue verified badge was quite good indicator until Musk ruined it by making available to buy it.
And community assistance. For example on facebook there is dedicated groups for everything where you can get help. Literally everything, like cooking, repairing car, PC stuff and so on. Though, quality of crypto related groups often is quite low and it's full of scam promoters.

Whatever points you have mentioned might be correct, but I would say that there is a difference between a social media platform and a forum.

A forum is a place for people to exchange knowledge and information, whereas a social media platform is a place for people to communicate and socialize, so there are different use cases hence different rules and regulations.

A person who is fond of social media platforms wouldn't like forums like this one because it isn't as visually appealing as them, you don't see videos that autoplay when you have them on your screen, you don't see a lot of images, all you see is text all around the forum, but people like us love it because we know the essence of this forum and how our time spent here is used for something good while the time spent on social media platforms is usually wasted.

So, there are differences in rules and everything because both platforms have different purposes and they serve them very well in their places.

I do not have much activities on social media, especially Meta like Facebook and Instagram. I only make use of Twitter which people on this forum will also be using. This forum is a place of knowledge.

INTRODUCTION:

I was introduced to this platform few weeks ago. The graphics of this place wasn't pleasant to me. I honestly was struggling to get acquainted to this place until I discovered how important (unique) bitcointalk is and the level of information it carries. One of the game changers for me was when I read a thread made by Satoshi himself in this forum, I knew I was at the right place. And again BlackHatCoiner dropped me my first merits (4), this actually did hit me differently, throughout that day, I was joyous.
I decided to make this article to outline ways in which bitcointalk is better than social media in sourcing for information about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Please I will need your feedback incase of any misinformation.

1. USERS REPUTATION:
In bitcointalk, users build reputation overtime where the most reputable users are those with years of experience who participate actively in the forum. These reputable users are most likely to give accurate information about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as a whole.
WHILE;
 In social media, reputation is often determined by the numbers of subscriptions or likes, which can be misrepresented as these subscriptions and likes can be manipulated using bots.

2. ORIGINALITY OF RESOURCES:
In bitcointalk, you will read from the original resources and catch the fun in it, such as  I AM HODLING. Also read from the Ann threads of the projects themselves e.g Ethereum thread.
WHILE;
In social media, such originality is often not available.

3. CHECK AGAINST SPAM:
In bitcointalk, there are moderators who check for spam posts, such posts are often  deleted. This responsibility is not left for the moderators alone as other community members also show interest in reporting spam to the moderators.  This keeps the community clean and sane as much as possible.
WHILE;
In social media, spam is rampant because of less moderation and this posses difficulty in filtering posts by quality.

4. COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE:
In bitcointalk, even as a newbie, you will have the chances of getting help from even the most experienced users who could be developers or miners. You can continue to get this help if you remain active and you can even send a direct pm.
WHILE;
In social media, getting direct help for technical problems is always a problem and most times no one is willing to give a solution without requesting for some bucks.

5. EXCELLENT ARRANGEMENT:
In bitcointalk, topics are often arranged perfectly into dedicated boards, sub-boards and threads. Topics which are posted to inappropriate boards or threads are often moved to the appropriate board. This arrangement enhances research and focused reading/learning.
WHILE;
In most social media, there are no such arrangements as there are often general discussions with no dedicated thread for a particular topic.

6. ROBUST ARCHIVES:
This forum has a large data of past threads and posts which dates back to the early days of bitcoin. These archives could be referenced for research purposes.
WHILE;
This is not available in social media. Most social media even references the forum.

CONCLUSION:
This is a great forum for getting information about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I am glad to have been introduced in this forum and I do wish that one day I can become established, knowledgeable and reputable here to contribute immensely here.
Thank you all for reading.
