I agree that there is little future for Aeon if we don't stand out in the crypto space. Many projects have copied Aeon and built on top of that. Many projects copied Monero and printed on top of that. It is a good thing there are many projects out there, but what do they have to offer against the rest other than more developers at hand who have devoted their time for that specific project. It seems nowadays there are so many cookie-cutter projects that only offer a different POW and maybe one or two things here or there, especially CN forks. You know how many POW are being used by CN forks? They are all still CN coins though.

Why build 1350 ERC20 tokens to support 1350 single ideas?

Why not have a few main erc20 projects that have 20 functions they support each?

I look at projects nowadays like little retail companies that each do their own thing and all make their own specific product yet in the end, they are all still little retail companies.

This is not about what mining algorithm there is. You might have misunderstood or maybe continue to avoid the real main issue on stoffu's proposal. However, you wrote an ignorant analysis about it in your State of Aeon article.

This is what stoffu said.

I believe now is the right time for Aeon to become ASIC friendly by switching to SHA-3 PoW (the most recent Secure Hashing Algorithm standardized by NIST). Below I'll try to explain why:
There is no such thing as ASIC resistant PoW.

Whether someone creates an ASIC or not is not determined by how technologically difficult it is to do so, but how economically sensible it is to do so; i.e., when a coin gets more adopted and the price rises, ASICs will appear no matter what.

When there will be privacy coins months as they always been then all privacy coins will gain. Yes first will be Monero but after that all the rest will also gain. Monero will just suck them up with a slight delay. Suddenly nothing else then privacy will matter. That is how things were happening and it will happen in the future.

@bigslimvdub. I am not as optimistic as some of the people in /r/Aeon hehehe. However, I do not trust their bullishness. They might only be bagholders that are hyping their bags but ready to dump on the next group of buyers.

Also, if stoffu's proposal is rejected, I might start dumping too. There is no chance for Aeon if everything stays the same.

@bigslimvdub. To be honest with you, I should have dumped some coins during the 2017 highs. I was so certain that the project would attain a success that might have it begin climbing up to the cryptocoin top 50. I was wrong hehehe.

Maybe it will be $9 again sometime???

In any case, I reckon the Aeon community, which is made up of bagholders like me, has to be motivated to do the extra work hehehe. The transference of labor from top to bottom in the cryptospace.

I'm glad you are a bag holder, It means you stuck around through the tough times and didn't dump like certain other community members.

It means a lot that people believe in the project that they will hold their assets and help make the project great again.

@cAPSLOCK. That might be true. The motivation to begin something extraordinary slowly goes when someone becomes more financially comfortable in life.

Looks to me like Wownero (whatever that is) took any position Aeon could have taken.

My theory is Smooth is very rich at this point, and does not really care.

Just being realistic.

their site http://wownero.org/ does appear rather funny.

@waversurfing. Agreed if we consider Aeon as the silver to Monero's gold. However Aeon had an original vision to be a light cryptonote coin with nodes made to run on light hardware.

Also, it was supposed to be the project that would be more experimental than Monero.

yes, obviously postponed under the weight of circumstances.

Sometimes it appears that we are trying very hard to be optimistic, however, deep inside we already know Aeon might be beginning to be a dead project.

Also, the vision to be the light version of Monero is gone, I reckon.

we are in a system of dependancy, and not in a worse position.
CN forks also are not very well currently.
considering:
1-whole bear market
2-asics etc..
3-forks coming soon
the present situation can be understood.
don't forget newcomers cannot afford xmr at 50 usd, even if they are interested.
crypto market extension is the future.

I threw an order out there and apparently it was the only one to be made so far on BisQ.

I think bisQ is nice due to its OTC style setup, but it is very buggy and you must run the node 24/7 if you want orders on it. It seems that XMR traders are the main ones on there.

Not so much any more... they have a mobile app now where you can be able to monitor your trades on iOS and Android I believe.

@boomboom I’ll make sure to go on there next time I have some free time and I’ll pm you. Smiley

sounds good m8!
