PRIVATE AND NOT PREMINED: MONERO, AEON, KARBO
August 28, 2016, 04:17:26 AM
I am new here, first time to know AEON, is it listed on poloniex or bittrex? The thread has 45 pages, I consider it is a popular coin

It is listed on bittrex and cryptopia.

Well, exactly, the long battle of altcoins and the standing domination of Bitcoin closing with the spectacular blowing up of the ETH hard fork shows me Bitcoin is the winner but like we know its not enough, the e-cash/gold model is preferable to altcoins gimmicks (ETH, NXT, ETC etc etc Cheesy) and Satoshi knows people tried everything and it took a massively premined ICO'd coin like Ethereum to give the sheeple a hint of hope it could get near Bitcoin, it never could and never will. Monero will be the next step, all these other coins are footnotes in history.

Bytecoin is massively premined, it premiered the cryptonote tecnology but I don't see investors getting near it since the premise of anonymity is compromised with the hypothesis of 80% of the blockchain being fake or mined in secret leading to unknown entities holding large portion of ring signatures inputs and outputs and able to deanonymize future transactions.

If and when the non-private "Bitcoin" blockchains are hit with massive investigations (arrests, fines) as exposed by Wikileaks, since I do not think any government agency will report the fact that they have apps that can trace all transactions, I think that these public blockchains will persist.

It is only when investors choose to trust the private math, sort of how we all trust pocket calculators to arrive at the correct answers, that Monero and AEON will take off.

Not to sure about Bytecoin, but it does have a professional GUI.

What is also curious is that many other 'coins' sell the sizzle and not the steak. I think that opposite applies here.

I mean, how many times have you see awesome graphics, but no substance -- then no coin?

Or just the opposite, like Vcash, but surrounded by clouds of FUD?

Monero will take off and AEON will become its Litecoin.

Hundreds of crypto's are trending toward zero -- bangomatic.

In fact, I recently changed exchanges for better, lower prices on AEON.

My thinking is if Monero takes off, AEON could benefit. Sort of like a Bitcoin-Litecoin mirror.

Monero has already taken-off. I know what you mean , but if there is no development happening on AEON, it's just gonna keep drifting toward zero, which sux because I own a truckload of these coins and was hoping that someday they would be worth something and I'd be able to run an AEON wallet on my phone.

EDIT: Maybe smooth could give an update?

I will announce updated development plans in approximately three weeks.

On the topic of Monero already "taking off" I wouldn't particularly agree. Yes it is up nicely over the past several months but it's not exactly a moon shot. At 2 USD (about 20 million USD market cap) the current price of Monero will seem extremely cheep if the project accomplishes its objectives to any significant degree. The relevance to AEON I will leave up to the reader.

Update from Smooth can be found here:

Biggest bid I've seen on Bittrex. About 8 BTC's worth of AEON desired at .000025.

This one with 400K BOGABOOO who won't even withdraw his bag because node is not usable?

I don't think that's the reason why. I was able to withdraw my coins. This guy just enjoys keeping 400,000 AEON on the exchange for some bizarre reason. Maybe he doesn't' know how to use a cli wallet

I'm pretty sure those are AP's coins, and he can use a cli. I always interpreted it as a public show of confidence.

If I get a windfall from any trading, I'm gonna make it an even million so people get even angrier.   Tongue

This is a coin that a couple of years ago had a network power of a single kilohash/second.  There was literally a single desktop PC mining these things for about 3 million worth of AEON, and pretty much anyone can look at the historic hash rate and figure that out.

That being said, I've always proudly held it since my initial buy.  I honestly don't know whether it will ever take off, but I just like the branding and design of it - the fact that it's backed by the same next-next-generation technology as Monero makes me bewildered it is relegated to the alt bargain bin.

Maybe I'm buying a math beanie baby, but I'll proudly display it in my study alongside my Nyancoin exploits if that's the case.

Actually I think at one people he explicitly said he wasn't comfortable with CLI. i could be wrong though, not positive.

I think that is the case, although AEON does have a GUI wallet.

Aesthetic design and/or funding of the website is the easy bit. It's the actual content which is the hardest part because no-one yet knows what's going on with the technical roadmap.

There's a communication issue which could probably be fixed with the establishment of a clear core team and regular IRC meetings.

Once this is fixed, all else will follow.

Coinmarketcap.com is reliable as far as I can tell, and a $1 increase in Aeon is substantial now that most altcoins are struggling to stand on their feet.
