Ooohh boy that's not good . I didn't even know there was something like this. Clean your PC asap. Do you know how you got the virus? I once had something similar years ago when I attempted to do faucets. I couldn't change the address on the faucet, and I didn't know whose address was on there. So I just stopped doing faucets. Good luck man!

I also play faucet! But I can not accurately say what the real reason of this virus.

This is not good at least you noticed early. With the amount of stuff we do on the Internet with bitcoin it could be very easy to pick up a virus like this.

Suddenly i notice that my pc is affected by bitcoin copy paste virus! When i copy my btc address it paste another address. Please give me any solution if you known. Feeling very risky for this virus! Shocked Shocked

This is the first time that I've heard of this. I don't know that such virus exists! Be extra careful. Christmas is near and hackers and thieves are very active nowadays. The other address that appears hen you paste your BTC address maybe the address of the creator of the virus. I'm not a techy person and I know limited knowledge about it. I cannot advise anything but just be careful and clean your computer and download anti-virus software.

I am happy for you that you are seeing it before you made the transaction. I have read about several cases like this and someone close to me lost about 1btc because of this scheme where the money will go to another address and the party that sent coins will be expecting confirmation from the recipient while the recipient will be expecting that the amount should have been sent already. That is why I am always cross checking the address I am sending into even if its to my own other wallets or someone I know to randomly check the numbers and alphabets against the one copied before sending the coins. Its very key at this time for one to always be extra careful.

I have heard of such virus and it might affect ETH address too. It is better to clean your PC and if possible to reformat the pc. Stay safe and always check the address you paste.

Oh that is not good. I recommend to clean your pc asap. By any chance did you download something over the net? It can be a malware or something. People nowadays wanted an easy money resulting in doing shitty things to other people. I suggest to avoid unconfirmed websites or malicious programs then have your computer clean. Either reformat it so it will be good as new then have a decent anti virus. Back then what i used is deepfreeze where everything will be back to normal every restart. Keep safe. That is hard earned money right there, you dont want that to get to the wrong people.

Sorry to say this, but if you've been compromised this far, it would probably best if you go for a reformat. Antiviruses are far from perfect, and there may be other infections you don't know of.

This virus is not new but only careless people will be victimized by this virus, of course you should double check the address of the receiver before sending bitcoin to it. Since I didn't experienced having this virus the only thing I can recommend to you is you should install the best AV and scan your computer for malware and antivirus frequently. Btw this topic is already discussed here in the forum, I found this old thread maybe you can find a solution to your problem https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/copy-paste-virus-for-bitcoin-users-beware-1841658

I assume that you are on Windows.
Download AVIRA rescue system (you can do this even from the infected PC!) and burn it to a CD.
Then boot from the CD and disinfect your system. It has English interface too which you have to select by hand, since when I've use it, it used to start in German :-/

The AVIRA link is https://www.avira.com/en/download/product/avira-rescue-system
There are other rescue systems, you can google for them. Kaspersky is slow imho, but here it is: https://support.kaspersky.com/4162

Disclaimer: my computers were never infected yet with this particular virus, so I don't know which of the rescue system actually cleans it (and how good).

that's not good, sorry for you but before panicing, listen to us.. i want to suggest you to download Hyrens cd iso, it's the best and complete solution to find and clear any virus/malware/adware.
The peculiarity of this software is that is working offline, so all the windows services are not running (it's called cold scan); in the hyrens website there are tons of tutorial how to use it and what to do.
This is for everyone and not just you, that's the best piece of software created for this kind of stuffs.

The creator of that virus is too dumb to at least don't think that the virus is really obvious and can easily be noticed. Lucky for you that you have noticed it early. Check your Task Manager and look for Process and check if there is any suspicious exe ( some of the virus exe plays as a svchost.exe which is a very sensitive exe of Windows--if you are using windows--) or the better way is to download an Antivirus, run your computer on safe mode and Fully scan your computer.( again, if you are using windows).

Woah, it's good that you noticed it pasted a different address. Please be careful. If you have been affected by something like this then you could have other stuff in your computer, such as a keylogger. Run different antiviruses and see if that helps.

Other than that, I suggest you consider using Linux. Ubuntu, in particular, is easy to install and is really easy to use. You can run it alongside Windows as well. It's not bulletproof, but these kinds of viruses can't penetrate it easily.

I heard also that there is a copy paste bitcoin address virus that attacks by spreading trojan horse to your computer, we must all aware of this virus if you don't want to send your coins to another address mostly bigger transaction, always be cautious in using free and suspicious software, email and browser extension as the viruses can spread easily in just one run, always use paid, premium and authentic antivirus to your PC always scan the software's that you are downloading, beware of pirated and cracked software's and if the antivirus fails to do so reformat right away.

I didn't even know such type of virus existed  Undecided Thanks mate, for posting this thread.
It really creates an awareness in the common people. All of you should look for such kind of infection in your PCs.
Try to clean you PC with an anti malware program such as MalwareBytes or ZAM (Zamana Anti Malware). It looks like a malware program to me but can be something else too.

The commercial Anti-virus software with Malware protection can detect and kill most of these infections. Our IT department use a variety of commercially available anti-virus software like Kaspersky and Trend and McAfee and all of them destroy most of these infections.

The FREE Anti-virus software like AVAST has also been used to eliminate some of the nasty things that are doing the rounds.

Hope this is helpful. If everything fails, use a bootable version of the Tails OS to boot your computer and then do your Bitcoin things in a clean OS environment.

Thanks for posting.
I hope lots of people read this so that we can all take the necessary caution everytime we make a transaction.
Do you have Kaspersky by any chance? I doubt the virus can get in while you use their secure browsing procedure.

This kind of topic should be pinned IMO.
