Poor management is what is affecting Africa.  Africa has many resources that some countries in the European world don't have but this European countries are doing better without any natural resources. In Africa one man can pocket 20% money that is been generated from resources.  This amount of money can be used for something reasonable.

Do you really think that resources are an indicator of development or independence? Until African countries understand that the resource economy is the lot of third world countries! Even modern Russia is a third world resource country, with the only difference - it was lucky to receive a legacy from the USSR in the form of nuclear weapons. The modern world has changed, and resources that were in demand 50 years ago are now leaving the position of "TOP resources". Africa needs to attract investments, develop technologies, the agricultural sector! Africa has potential, and the only question is, which path will Africa choose? Continue the path of degradation and the resource economy, or enter the world market with those "resources" for which the future? The decision is only for the countries of Africa!

My opinion on this topic concerning Africa will always be the same, and that is our leaders, they are the major problems responsible for more than half of the poverty and insecurity in major African countries.
We know how to elect leaders that are clueless, lawless and full of greed and selfishness, this leaders mismanage our resources and funds, loot public funds and never fulfill their campaign promises...

To make Africa great, I would suggest we first of all, get it right in electing leaders that will lead us, once we are able to achieve this successfully, I personally believe that fifty percent of the problems in Africa will be solved in poverty and insecurity.

Actually poverty is experienced everywhere else not only in Africa, we has seen poverty in Europe, Asia, Middle East, south and North America. But the picture is always painted better to people to see Africa as the center of poverty. Yes there is extreme poverty in Africa and family living on incredible low daily spending. But that's the picture always painted.

The cause of the poverty is majorly neglected and not highlighted enough the extreme corruption from government of such countries goes on deaf ears on the international scenes, just many people showing how rich they are when they give aids that only temporary solves the situation.
Natural resources are still particularly abundant in Siberia and the Far East. But the indigenous peoples there also live very poorly, because these resources are appropriated and unfairly disposed of by the central government from the Kremlin. However, it seems that the situation there may change very soon. The war of conquest unleashed by Russia in Ukraine ends in a shameful defeat, and this will significantly weaken the power of the Kremlin. This means that the indigenous peoples of Russia, who were kept in obedience by force of arms, will have a historical chance to gain independence. And then it may turn out that there will be neither oil nor gas in Russia, because they are not in the central part of Russia.

Africa have lot of natural resources. The poor public management and corruption is the major reason for the poor situation of the continent. The available natural resources should boost the economy, but things happen in the opposite way. Corruption exists from the top to bottom of the public management which slow the economy and never lets poor people get the support and funding from the government.

Available natural resources should increase revenue, but here this leads to violence, corruption, environmental degradation and poverty. Most importantly if the government concentrate on providing good health care the countries will grow better in economy than the past.

everyone has the same opportunity. then every country or continent has the same opportunities as other continents.
So the opportunity to become a developed country is the same. that is, every country has the opportunity. However, the process towards progress is not an easy thing.
in addition there must be good cooperation between government and society in a country. Skills and knowledge are also needed in building an advanced civilization in a country. because to take advantage of the natural resources available in a country requires knowledge about them.
then common awareness is needed in this regard. namely the community must be aware of the importance of an education and its importance in exploring knowledge. and this is also where the government must support and focus on building a more knowledgeable young generation so that extraordinary potentials grow in the future that will bring change and build the country into a more advanced era.

but we often see many emerging geniuses with good knowledge and even make a discovery. but the government does not support this potential. and finally other countries have the courage to pay these geniuses to work in their country. and finally the country that respects the genius is the one that is progressing now.
so that is the important role of the government in supporting and appreciating the works and discoveries made by the people.

There is only one solution to the African problems! Keep the western influence out of the country. Their corruption is sky high and 99% of the leadership is running their countries under western influence.

All the civil wars are funded by the west through their leadership. So if they really want to prosper, they have to throw out western influence and the current leadership.

Who is influenced by the West? If you mean the African region, that means it doesn't include the country I live in so I don't feel influenced by anyone in this and also at this time.

Quote
We need to be free of their influence and be independent in our national decision making
You also have to explain who is affected here and why they (Africa) can be influenced by the West you mean so that everyone knows where the problem of influence comes from in Africa.

Quote
Technology
We have to invest in technology to improve innovation
We have to explore more of our immense natural resources
Developing technology requires no small amount of capital and it is not enough to only use words and explore more resources from nature. It also requires reliable human resources in their respective fields. Because natural resources cannot be processed by stupid people or people who do not have the knowledge to process natural resources into ready-made goods.

It's not only the West exploiting your natural resources. You also have China setting up debt traps and your politicians wholly accepting it for their own personal gain. The youth needs to stand up against your corrupt politicians and start making moves to remove these guys from the office. Africans are selling Africa to other nations, let's face it. The colonial powers and China are extracting every resource they can from your continent because your leaders allow them to do so. If you want Africa to prosper, stop choosing the same people and putting them in the office then maybe you'll have a head start.

The selling of resources is a fake problem. The real problem is the lack of education. If education would be at high levels then there would be more factories and enterprises that would help selling everything with a significant added value.
There are too few countries that improve their citizens' life for real with money from selling the resources. On the other hand, if a certain level of education is reached, people can earn better and can also elect smarter government.

I do agree with this since some of those politician doesn't want their citizens to be literate because their illegal actions will easily get caught if many of their citizens will be more educated. Maybe the only solution on this is to destroy the existing tradition of bad politician and people insert those deserving leaders which aim true country growth because if people will still believe on flowery words without action there country will remain poor even though they have things that can help their country to get out on poverty line.

It's also impossible for Africans to be greedy.

Yeah, suddenly we have found the new species of human that isn't tempted and tainted by any of the 7 sins, yeah right, bs.
If Afrincas wouldn't be greedy you won't happen to stumble upon a Ponzi scheme every week, but even leaving that obvious thing aside, what do you mean, politicians in Africa aren't greedy? Aren't they corrupt? Who votes for greedy and corrupt politicians more than others who just want to fill their pockets?

I just hate this rhetoric, Africans are not the ones guilty for their leaders, not all Russians are corrupt, it's not their fault, it's not the fault of the ordinary citizen for its government abuse, but who the hell puts those people in power? To do nothing about makes you just as guilty as the culprit!

There are those who have a good life but I don't think the wealth that they obtained can be called as a blessing because they only get it from taking advantage of others.

Wow, so they are not greedy like the rest of the decadent west but, they are stealing from their own citizen. Yeah, love the logic!

If Africa did unify, or at least have stable borders, it could do well from the ground up.

Unify? No!
The borders of nearly all of those countries are barely holding, the only thing keeping them together is that they are afraid of what might happen if a dispute happens between the two territories, but in reality, if you would let them choose on their own based on their ethnicity every country would look worse then the Papal states, I bet there is not a country with more than 10 provinces that doesn't have at least 2-3 of them constantly rebelling and seeking independence.

Natural resources are nothing without capital and technology.
Having capital and technology is actually far more important than having natural resources. Countries like Japan, South Korea and Singapore don't have enough natural resources, but they have lots of highly educated work force, technology and capital.
Lots of countries that have an abundance of natural resources are very poor and underdeveloped.
The biggest problems of Africa are not having enough money to invest in the educational system and the lack of security, which stops many people from building wealth and growing their own businesses.
Poverty is the best environment for crime and corruption. You can't solve the crime/corruption problem without solving the poverty problem.

Can you really blame them? I mean the colonial powers that rape and plundered them left them with almost nothing, the natural resources sure are rife but given how they still have some of the poorest means that there's something that happened so wrong a long the way, maybe it's the colonist or maybe it's the people themselves, I mean there's a lot of countries suffering from corruption of their political leaders so that's another factor.

Western influences;
The West try to influence us so they can keep extracting our resources..

We need to be free of their influence and be independent in our national decision making

The West's contribution is not always bad for the economic growth of any country, it's just that limiting western interference is far more effective than a blockade. Because after all the contribution of the West can also have a good impact as long as we take advantage of what is really needed and do not give excessive freedom when the West helps in economic growth. Such as requiring western technology and knowledge resources to encourage the banking industry, distributor management and all of that must be under the control of a legitimate government. Not giving authority and freedom drains all available resources.

Technology
We have to invest in technology to improve innovation

We have to explore more of our immense natural resources

Investing means having a good line of friendship with outsiders and means giving other countries access to offer investment solutions in technology. Pioneering and participating in every activity that western countries hold by sending human resources to study. So not only investing outside but in the future can create innovations in terms of technological progress.

Corruption
Our growth is affected by corruption, a transparent Africa will be massive in development..

Leadership, Africa need a young leadership to lead us

We need unify currency to ease trade

We need to bring insecurity to the barest minimum..

Young leaders are born from the equality of education achieved and that should be felt by all young people in Africa. But the fact is that at this time it is not working as it should. Corruption is caused by the government's dissatisfaction in getting the budget, it is unavoidable that every country will have corruption cases if they do not unite their common goals in building the country's economy. Most of the corruptors prioritize personal interests above the interests of the people who should be prosperous with large sources of wealth.
Currencies don't always weaken, but will slowly become worthless if they can't generate land taxes to pay off the bloated debt.

You know..... I have worked in Africa on contract for my company for many years... and I have observed a lot of the mistakes that they are making to be first world countries.

The "corruption" is a major issue, because the leadership (government) and their family and friends are stealing the future of their citizens. The citizens shift the blame for everything onto the "West" or the colonialists that are pumping Billions into their economy. (Yes, they take resources as payment ...but what should they do.... just do all of that for nothing in return?)

I think they should stop playing the victim and just start focusing on replacing the people who are stealing their future.  Wink

Although the West has a part in the underdevelopment of Africa they are not the whole problem. Yes, they are culprits because they aid most corrupt leaders to keep stolen funds in Western banks. We have seen western multinationals engage in so many shape practices that have affected the economy of Africa. Issues like giving bribes for contracts, tax invasion, and environmental degradation due to oil exploration have been affecting Africa negatively.

I also see it as the highest form of irresponsibility to blame the West for Africa's underdevelopment. Africa's greatest challenge is nothing but poor leadership. Africa has leaders whose only agenda is to steal from the people. They make the people poor so that they can buy their votes with peanuts during elections. Even South Africa which has been Africa's shinning light is not declining both politically and economically.

Africa is blessed with a very youthful population but most of them are not educated. Africa has the highest number of out-of-school children and there would be no development without a skillful population. The government has failed to invest in education at all levels and this has led to a high rate of crime.

Africans needs to wake up and stop the blame game. continent has equal opportunities to transform to what every innovative society they so desire. The change people need starts with themselves. Africa's major problem is greed and religion. We spiritualise virtually everything and this has made us believe it will take God to fix the country forgetting that every country we envy today is a product of their citizens making everything count. Good leadership is also a factor but i believe we need to reset our minds if we must embrace change and innovation
I believe Africans are not like that but I can only see to their face that they are kind. It's also impossible for Africans to be greedy. How come when they are one of the weakest or the poorest? It's only sad that despite of their kindness they are not blessed as the other countries.

There are those who have a good life but I don't think the wealth that they obtained can be called as a blessing because they only get it from taking advantage of others. It maybe true that each continent is equal because it's also said that god created everything to be equal but maybe some prefers to stay the same and they don't want to try more harder. Africa can be said to be one of it.

Was this inspired by Giorgia Meloni?

People of the world have to decide the type of life they want for themselves. Many of the negative conditions we endure are an end result of our own choices. The oceans became polluted with plastic due to people choosing to dispose of their plastic waste improperly. Economies and job markets aren't doing the best at the moment. Due to the choices we've made and the things we have chosen to support.

We can have anything we want in this world. But the catch is, we have to make the right choices, if we're to ever get there.

If people are unhappy with circumstances and the status quo. That could be one area they can focus on. "Make better choices."

Corruption is the main problem, the African continent is full of riches which can be exchanged for quick cash and that is exactly what we see happening, then how the continent can remain so poor? Simple, the politicians steal that money instead of using it to help the lives of their citizens, this in return affects the infrastructure of the different countries and the education of their people, which in return delays the development of the whole continent.
