Akon, popular personality who is known to the world through his songs and music now opens about the needs of bitcoin and briefs more about it on an interview to the Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM. That's really interesting to watch his interview where he gives clear answers with comparison to the dollar. Here's the link to the video https://youtu.be/HERTlVMd1QI

He's praised a king by African people. He has turned himself to be an entrepreneur, and he'll do good to Africa with cryptocurrency which might enrich the usage and adoption of bitcoin. Even now there is good acceptance for bitcoin in Africa, and what he has initiated through his own coin could make more popular people get into cryptocurrency network.

Well, everybody knows bitcoin is better than USD, Euro, and British Pounds. My question is why AKON never talked about bitcoin in the past until now? Perhaps, AKON is trying to promote his shitcoin in the name of bitcoin. If AKON truly likes bitcoin why AKOIN???

So.. if I found the right website, Akon is creating his own coin, Akoin. From their website[1]: "AKOIN IS THE EXCLUSIVE CURRENCY OF THE AKOIN ECOSYSTEM". Great, another unnecessary coin. I'm not saying that Akon is a bad person, but if he really wanted to help, pretty much every use-case indicated on their website can already be done using BTC and ETH. I'm guessing that some people just proposed this idea to Akon and asked for permission to use his name. Pretty much the same with Manny Pacquiao's PAC token.

Agreed, already there were more coins based on personalities. Some even created by them as they're good at programming. There needs to be some use case that is unique to get good value to the project and the coin. Here the coin might get popularity as it is named based on his name, but when it comes to use case and growth it won't attract good investors choose it.
what is so special that would make Akoins use case diffrent from any other coin? Sounds to my like a pump and dump scam. Just because a celebrities name is in it does not make the coin special. If anything anyone that has been in the crypto industry for more then 3 months know the Longer ROI is going to be somewhere in the -3 to 5000% range... Smh

To be honest the vision and mission of this Akoin is very good. if you read again on the website akoin.io it is on 'The Akoin Ecosystem unlocks the potential of the world's largest emerging economy through the creation of a trusted cryptocurrency with a vision to stimulate and innovate, revenue-generating opportunities that support and empower youth entrepreneurs, economic stability, and growth across Africa and the world.

he planned the crypto ecosystem in Africa. it's really good if it's really realized. Apart from the thought of investors who want to take advantage it's another matter. if the project is successful I think the price will also rise.

My daughters name is Aubrey. Her nickname is Aubs. I am going to create and Aubry Coin. A coin that no one has ever seen before. It will have smart contracts, and a thing called Staking and the best part is the abreviations will be A.U.B.S lmao. Jk guys come on I agree, what is so special that would make Akoins use case diffrent from any other coin? Sounds to my like a pump and dump scam. Akon is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated African acts with worldwide recognition as well. Seeing such personality rallying support for Bitcoin is truly something to be happy for and at the same time strengthens the faith of people in crytpos. Anyways, reading up on the Akoin project, am pretty neutral on that. Depending on how this works out, we can only wait and see how well it goes.

As of now, there are much higher number, hundreds and thousands of altcoins today, in which some are based on personalities, some are being created because of good programming skills. Akon's main topic is about bitcoin, Akon starts to give a meaningful words that can help the listener on how transaction using bitcoin is much easier and safer. Akon discuss some advantages and how he handles the cryptos.

Agree with you. I was feeling happy as I was reading through the post just when I read the line that Akon has created his coin.
All the happiness was gone because I knew that the coin won't be of any use for obvious reasons. Obviously Akon is a good person and I respect him for what he has done. But he could have simply used the existing coins instead of creating a new coin of no unique usecase.

Everyone wants to make their own cryptocurrency, but what's the point? If they don't invest enough in her she'll just drown

I think somehow, it is good that people talk about things like that, especially personalities. Personalities usually have huge followers in their different social media handles and those followers are likely to do what the personality do. So, at the long run, it will increase patronage but whether the coin will be in the market for long is another story for the future to determine.

I might have to consider investing because it sounds interesting. I'm going to do more research thanks to this post, and maybe become a limbo owner thanks to one and only Akon. Cool

Alright, Akon has always supported Cryptocurrency and the bitcoin, but his idea of creating his own coin is what am not too comfortable about. He could either use the bitcoin to reach out or partner with one of the good altcoins already existing in the market place. With the way altcoins have been failing, it will be much better to support existing projects especially when one does not experience on how these works.

He probably want to have more influence on the coin/economy that he's gonna make. And he's right about it.

The popularity of someone can be use as advertising intrinsically and what have don't by Akon will end up of this scenario. I heard PAC token who made by Manny Pacquai and the token will be use to make easy for his fans to buy something who sold by him especially the accessories about him. Let see what was happened before Pac Man decide to make his coin, he said that he has interested to bitcoin and he has owned bitcoin. This is just advertising in my opinion, and I don't think his/their coin will long last in the marker and worth being invested since most people tend use cryptocurrency as their income.

If Akon really appreciate bitcoin why not use his platform and promote bitcoin, instead of planning to come up with his own shit coin  Roll Eyes. The best thing he can do is to start a company and come up with a user friendly interface that could help the people in Africa rather than coming up with his coin, hopefully someone would give him a great advice on how to make things better with bitcoin and not to create another worthless coin for god's sake.

Only the noncoiner would go to this tokens we all know that those famous personalities token doesn't really have a use in the crypto society except for attracting new investors.
And those new investors would just end up eaten by the market due to lock of knowledge about what they bought.

This is a good idea but for every artist to support bitcoin is also a big chance for more adoption asany who dont use or hear about it could easily get to know more thru them ,Akin is a great man from African and supporting this will give a brave chance to every country to adopt crypto over the USD which is centralized.

A lot of talented artist knows that a singing career only last a few years, so they start building on other ventures while they are still popular, so that they can fall back on something when that career comes to an end. Akon is one of those artist that has a short shelf life and he is hoping his "Crypto" coin might help to secure his future.

Like many of these celebrity coins, it only last a week or two while it is hyped in the media and on social media platforms and then you hardly hear anything again.  Roll Eyes  - Shitcoin incoming...  Tongue

I'm sort of following this with some mild form of curious... not because I think Akon's a revolutionary crypto advocate (I'd be surprised if he even knows how to sign a message from a client heh, but hey, surprise me Akon!) but because of the support I'm seeing for him and his ideas... not only from a very large segment of the continent but from his own government (all that land just given to him).

His own project may never end up to truly mirror the principles of Bitcoin but you never know what it might serve as catalyst for!

If Akon were to create his own coin, he should follow suit with R & B singer Jason Derulo in GCOX. Of course, I love Akon's music until now. Good thing that he is a Bitcoin and cryptocurrency advocate, and I strongly believe that others will be following suit as well.

Like Electroneum for example, it was already accepted in South Africa for buying mobile load, etc. The power of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies lies on their blockchain and real use cases. Despite that other countries disapprove Bitcoin, they would eventually understand later on and may be left behind in the economy if they do not adopt or ride on with the others.

but lets think of the advantages it will give to the crypto
community, things like this can help a lot to make other and or
more people aware about bitcoin and others because they are
famous any many people idolize them so for me it still good for
the whole cryptocurrency.

Sure. But with that logic, you're pretty much indirectly saying that altcoin scams are fine because it will bring more people into bitcoin. While there's somehow a bit of truth there, they should've just simply advocated bitcoin or ether(if they really need smart contracts). Projects like this are just going to lose people money in the end unfortunately.

It is good to hear that he is a pro crypto currency too but to make an another altcoin is another story and i'm against it because Altcoin market is crowded already and we will just make the investors to confuse and more divided so better if he will just support a certain Altcoin then invest to it.
