it would also get better if he can include bitcoin or cryptocurrencies thru his own songs just like what other rappers did on the past  .

i think that is more effective  than only talking about crypto on an interview because songs can be aired online of offline repeatedly and whenever people hears the word cryptos, they will soon memorized it and get curious with it and result for trying it  .

before i forgot i still thank bro akon with his love to btc

Now I really wonder, if Akon really supports bitcoin like all these celebrities do, have their actions also backed up their words?

And by this I mean,,, have they used bitcoin other than to trade? Do they have their own private keys? Do they have their own shops accepting bitcoin? Maybe even they support with a node or two of their own? I doubt this.

So.. if I found the right website, Akon is creating his own coin, Akoin. From their website[1]: "AKOIN IS THE EXCLUSIVE CURRENCY OF THE AKOIN ECOSYSTEM". Great, another unnecessary coin. I'm not saying that Akon is a bad person, but if he really wanted to help, pretty much every use-case indicated on their website can already be done using BTC and ETH. I'm guessing that some people just proposed this idea to Akon and asked for permission to use his name. Pretty much the same with Manny Pacquiao's PAC token.

[1] https://www.akoin.io/
but lets think of the advantages it will give to the crypto community, things like this can help a lot to make other and or more people aware about bitcoin and others because they are famous any many people idolize them so for me it still good for the whole cryptocurrency.

On top of it, it's not even decentralized. How can they store all information of their complex ecosystem on blockchain?
You can even share multimedia file, education content, etc. which have very big size.

Eh. "Decentralized" is pretty much just a sort of "hype" word for new projects anyway that projects just throw around without thinking about it, along with other words like "transparent", "anonymous", cheap tx fees" and whatever. People think just because a certain project uses blockchain technology that it's automatically decentralized lul.

If Akon wanted to truly support Bitcoin or cryptocurrency for that matter, he should have just promoted it in a lot of ways. He could easily have opened a restaurant or studio or any business that accepts Bitcoin in African countries where it is legal. I know he is in charity, he could have promoted the acceptance of Bitcoin and altcoins as donations. He could have launched concerts around Africa and the rest of the world, allowing fans to purchase tickets and seats with Bitcoin and/or altcoins. He can do a lot of things with his influence.

However, the moment he created and promoted his own coin, he is already contributing to the growing pollution inside the crypto world.

akon's engagement for africa is really nice to see, he's doing this for loooong looooong time now.
but i don't understand why he creates his own coin now? we have enough already, he could support an established one. i have read in the past that electroneum is also doing massive engagement to bring adaption of their coin to africa. so why not supporting this one instead of creating his own thing... I think that will be a good start up for Africa and crypto
Bitcoin is appreciated and known in Africa so the movement of cryptocurrency there is on the trend.

Akin intends to start his own coin; please don't do that.
Starting a coin because you like bitcoin no it's not what's going to support bitcoin. Entrepreneurs should cut cryptocurrency some slack. Don't start up a coin because you see the cash rewards it might get
He's already doing that and he's very much aware of bitcoin and knows what he's doing. As much as possible we don't want to see anymore of those personal named coins or another altcoin that will add to the crowd of alt coins so that everyone can focus to bitcoin.

Adoption of Bitcoin among new people especially popular is great. However, for me, the most important thing is that people understand the real value of the coin, because many see bitcoin only as a way to make income on trading and no more

unfortunately that has turned into a trend for a couple of years now. basically anybody who wants to make a ton of profit starts creating an unnecessary coin and makes money from that. they use excuses such as "helping the world" or solving some imaginary problem to do it too.
and they are going to keep doing it as long as it is profitable. if people stopped buying these useless coins, we would have never seen the altcoin count enter 4 digits let alone reach 3000!
I don't think it's going to be the trend much longer. It's only people who don't get it that the situation has changed significantly that are still trying to succeed by creating their own coin. The current tendency seems clear to me: Bitcoin is recovering, altcoins are dying. It's a greedy and also impractical move these days to make one's own token and rely on it. It makes more sense to adopt Bitcoin or at least one of the main cryptocurrencies. It's great if Akon is really trying to bring electricity to people, but I think that creating another token when there are already so many of them was a mistake.

For people looking at this the bad way Akon as of the present is not known for his music anymore but for the charity and generosity he is giving towards Africa. One of his recent projects is he is planning to give electricity to 600 million Africans for their homes, and if "Akoin" is part of his plans to raise up funds and speed up the process then I think we need some time to think it into our considerations, unlike other celebrities or sports celebs like Pacquiao the crypotocurrency of Akon is planning to make has a point in helping and not about making himself much richer. With a good background on helping the poor in that continent and still has the desire to help again I think we shouldn't discredit him just because he is using his popularity to create his own cryptocurrency, I mean he's not like Zuckerberg creating a new crypto for profit after all.

I dont trust celebrities promoting their own coin which is basically useless. They expect to get bigger adoption using the name of a famous person.
Celebrities who give them permission to do so dont care about the consequences as long as they get paid.

I have always clamored for the need of our entertainment industry to embrace cryptocurrency, there was a rumor one time that 50 cent did an advert during the time bitcoin was released and was paid about thousands of the coin which he kept, I don't now know if he has sold the coins or not, but if he had not sold it, I am sure it would have been some of the things that would encourage super stars like Akon and the rest to also pick interest.

Akon is the first musician I think that will openly declare his support for bitcoin, but I am surprised that he is coming up with his coin, and I hope that someone didn't just want to take advantage of that now to quickly create a fake coin, because people like to take advantage of thing a lot and Akon is too dear to people and too popular that scammers can easily raise money with his name.

Not that I'm against Akon or any of what he's doing but apparently this will just be another one of those coins that would be flooding the market without any solid use-case. He got me at the term "exclusive" meaning this is not, in any way, be those coins that will have the least form of charity towards some people and would be a straight-up profit-making machine for Akon and his followers.

Akon, popular personality who is known to the world through his songs and music now opens about the needs of bitcoin and briefs more about it on an interview to the Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM.
Akon is pro bitcoin for a very long time and he explained about the need of bitcoin and exposed the real face of paper currency, the fact is that not everyone think about paper currency as a promise to pay and it is not certain that it will have the same valuation and he very well termed everything in this interview and with time i am sure majority of the people will understand the concept and start using bitcoin and one thing i am certain is that another economic crisis will attract everyone into bitcoin Grin.

Actually that would really make him a bad person, putting his name on a project he doesn't have a clue what is about.

Well, true. But just to be more specific, another possibility is that this small team of developers were like "we're going to create a blockchain/platform for yadda yadda!", with them not informing Akon that there are already decent existing platforms to use right now; and of course Akon approves because of the "blockchain tech" "decentralized" and etc terminologies. If this is the case, this makes Akon really reckless for not asking for a second opinion towards the proposal, but I don't think I would necessarily call him a "bad person" for this.

He's praised a king by African people.

What a load of...
Praise someone like a king... What is this, the middle ages?

But, as you sid another useless coins that again tries to profit from the whole "let's help Africa" drama.
There is nothing this token can do better than BTC or LTC or even doge, and if their main objective was to build a platform for it they could have done this also with a current coin.

if he wants to make it successful, should have a concept and can keep it up for long term, the competition is very hard compared two years ago

Competition is hard? Maybe when it comes to raising money via stupid ICO, in reality when it comes to a real-life delivered functioning product the competition is actually zero.

Everyone wants to make their own cryptocurrency, but what's the point? If they don't invest enough in her she'll just drown

It's mostly to make money off. Not that I'm judging Akon's technical knowledge, but my guess is that Akon doesn't have an idea that this "Akoin" thing is completely unnecessary, and what they're planning can work if not better with bitcoin and ethereum. Again, I'm guessing that they just branded this coin off Akon for publicity reasons.
