Democracy is vulnerable to a 51% attack.
are my coins that I transferred to a different wallet yesterday safe or not???
Yes, they're safe. (You should make sure to keep the old wallet just in case, but since your transactions were done yesterday and presumably many people will re-run all lost transactions, it shouldn't matter.)

1) If you run a mining pool or are mining solo, and have upgraded to 0.8, downgrade to 0.7

2) If you are a normal user, do not perform any important Bitcoin transactions until you get the all clear.

3) If you are a pool miner and you know your pool has not downgraded, stop mining.

4) If you performed any transactions recently, be warned that you cannot rely on them.

Coins are safe, but the current value in them is not. This will have consequences.

Right now I don't understand how can coins be safe if transaction was made on the 0.8 blockchain? I'm hoping for a detailed official answer from the devs.

Coins are safe because your transactions will exist in the 0.7 blockchain too. Only issue is double spending and that's why you should not buy any coins from anyone right now.

I don't see how this can be handled without any coin loss, what about all those block rewards that were mined after the fork? how can they be re-distributed to the rightful owners?

Revert to 0.7 and all ok
sorry can you elaborate on this? reverting to 0.7 means the qt client has to be 0.7? I just upgraded to 0.8..

is that what you mean by it?
Only miners need to do so. General users need not to panic.

PS: Thread posted to Important Announcements.

my rigs are mining on cgminer 2.10.5 so I'm confused as if I'm mining on .5 or .8

Check with your pool. If you don't know, just don't mine for a couple hours.

If you are mining on bitcoin version 0.8, please stop for a few hours.

I figure both clients would send the same information along about a transaction whether 0.7 or 0.8 so how could a fork be made in the first place?

Or is the program just "confused" about handling larger blocks and things are fine?

Just was updating to 0.8 and noticed this.  Should we revert back to 0.7?

SELLING BITCOINS PM ME

PLEASE don't trade with anyone offering good deals right now Smiley There is a very good chance they are trying to take advantage of the chain fork.

IF YOU ARE NOT MINING just go do something else for a while!
