I always thought this bitcoin cash was nothing more than just a cash grab at a volatile time in bitcoin's cycle waiting for the impending hard fork which was bound to happen anyways.
They just figured a way to trick people into buying into yet another alt coin.

That is why they are called alternative coins in the first place.
They are just an outshoot of the successful predecessor.  Tongue

A good portion of the replies seem to be coming from people who mainly just have Bitcoins to think about.
Maybe I should have started this thread in the Alt coin thread under speculation.

The panic about what will happen this august 1 is currently affecting others coins. To me the reality is that nothing significant will happen and btc has taken the majority of market share even if the hardfork lead to split of bitcoin network! One thing is fundamental here and that is btc is used to fight and conquer it's enemies.
lets just hope that nothing extreme will happen to bitcoins.some people have horde lots of them i think..hahaha

I dont think anything will happen to altcoin rates because of Bitcoin upgrade. People are more worried about their Bitcoin rather than claiming for Bitcoin cash. Those who want to grab the free money have already taken out their Bitcoins to wallets.

I think the market will crash, people will either focus on BCC and Bitcoin or will stop trading until the situation get better, and even before the forking, alt coin already crashing this is because the traders hesitate to take a move in this chaotic situation and it is a risky times to make a move

Oh man do you really think that 1:1 idea of distribution is really good in terms of profitability? What do you know about the price of BCC or BTC when the hard fork hits and goes away with the storm. The price will fluctuate like badly leading to unequaled market cap and who knows due to tremendously supportive fan base BTC will just jump into the market with double the price of current bitcoin. So it's better to stay out of such conversions and keep your BTC's safe and sound into private key backed up wallet. :-)

My most profitable trading decisions in the past have all come from forks. Specifically buying into the coin pre fork.  In this case it would be bitcoin. That is what I know. And since I haven't a reason that it won't be the most profitable decision once again I'll be doing the same.

The only hard decision is... do you sell your bitcoin cash immediately after snapshot or hold?
In my opinion, I choose Altcoin for the situation in current, I saw most trader sell their altcoin and going to BTC just want receive BCC. But remember the value of BCC after August 1st is unknown and we can't sure it still $400 after that time, maybe 1$ per BCC is possible Roll Eyes

I'm I wrong to expect most Alt Coin to crash this weekend?

Why wouldn't traders move out of most Alt coins and move into Bitcoin? Especially on exchanges like bittrex that will give you 1:1 Bitcoin Cash.

Won't most traders try and pick up these free coins? currently futures of Bitcoin Cash(BCC) are @ $200?
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin-cash/

The only reason I can think of is the uncertainty. If  Bitcoin Cash(BCC) can get close to 50% of the hashrate it would create uncertain to which coin would be the official Bitcoin. But this uncertainty should produce a Bitcoin to dip and I have never seen a big bitcoin dip without taking the majority of alt coins down with it. . and If this battle for bitcoin happens don't you want to be holding both coins to hedge your bets.

Is there any real threat that both coins(BTC and BCC) are worthless after fork?

So either you think bitcoin and alt coin will crash(because of the uncertainty) and therefore you should be in fiat before August 1st

or

You want as much Bitcoin Cash as possible.

Seems to me the Alt Coins will lose out either way this weekend + monday.
May be you need to analyse more about the market , because every people in this field have own different thinking , there understanding also vary from person to person .
A part of the crowd of the bitcoiners are looking to make money in altcoins , because it is good time to make trading and buy altcoin because big big coin currently are down in the market .So they don't want to leave bitcoin .
And another part of this crowd are thinking that they can make big earnings with the hold of btc because they are thinking that they will get additional money after the fork in form of bitcoin cash BCC .
And also here exists a part of crowd that have totally dear with virtual currency , and transferring all the bitcoin and coin into fiat and leaves the bitcoin until everything get perfectly complete .
So currently it is not possible that everyone get out from the altcoin and enter in btc .

But if you check Coinmarketcap currently, it's Friday so let say the week started, we can see that the majority of altcoins are losing value and the only one in good shape in Bitcoin (with +8% in 24h) Following the logic of most of the people, others altcoins are supposed to be also in good shape. I can't say that there is a real threat that both coins are going to be worthless after fork. But a lot of altcoins will continue to crash during the next 2 days. I am going to fiat before it happens, will buy at a low price and wait until everything is  "OK"

True, people are now hunting BCC by selling some even the entire altcoin they have. Thus causing most of the altcoin prices to fall.
About bitcoin: I think bitcoin will have a nice future
About BCC: after money laundering case with $ 2 billion. I did not know that BCC would be valuable or a waste in the future.
How can you able to say such thing? BCC isnt still there yet and we cant still see the actions of people regarding on buying BCC and sacrificing all of their alts but this thing is really possible though since there are people would really believe on the potential of BCC which they would definitely think that it would really increase its price later on but i dont really like to see bitcoin is splitted.

I think that people will be selling off alts to buy BTC to get free BCC and that could mean lots of red numbers in the alt market. We will see how things turn out though. I expect BCC to die a slow death and both BTC and all alts become stronger then ever.

If bitcoin crashes then that could be good for altcoins as people will be looking for a new crypto to invest into. $200 isn't enough to warrant a switch to bitcoin in my opinion because that is even less than the normal daily volatility we have been seeing lately.

Bitcoin cash will fail because a majority of people see it as a free airdrop and will just dump their coins, no one will mine a coin with little value so hashing power will follow to preserve profitability, ie if its worth 10% of the price of bitcoin it will receive about 10% of bitcoins hash power.

I have a plan for this. I will not sell my altcoin I just HOld. I moved my remaining Bitcoins to Bittrex. Wait for August 1. After the Split I will sell my free BCC. If BTC is about to dump I'll just sell it to USDT. And rebuy the BTC in the dip.
Im just holding my altcoin until this aug1, after that I will decide what may happen next. Thats nice moving bitcoins to bittrex for the bcc, but my plan will stay save my altcoins in the exchange. I can see and hoping that after this event price may rose again so we can have atleast profit.
It is much better to hold it for now thats was a great decision to hold it me too ive hold my altcoins for now and wait what would happen after aug. 1 as of now some altcoin are dump because bitcoin get dump to so i would rather to monitor for what will happen.

I'm counting on that also, I'm not going after BCC, it will crash hard, gonna shop a lot of cheap alts during the weekend, I believe this will be a much better bet than going after BCC.
