This is Bitcointalk. Altcoin wallets can be discussed in their respective ANN threads on the altcoin board already.
No, you are not right. People, also Bitcointalk forum members are using altcoins more and more. So altcoin wallet board is exactly what this forum need.
You can keep saying that until the cows come home, but if you do you're just going to make yourself a target of ridicule.

You're also making a claim, specifically that bitcointalk members are more interested in shitcoins than they previously were.  You sure about that?  Even if you're gauging said interest by an increase in activity in the altcoin section, it could be due to bounty hunters becoming more active.  That entire section (including all the subsections) has been a cesspool and a haven for the worst posters this forum has.  That being the case, I don't think there needs to be another board added for shitcoin wallets.

Also: Theymos would never go for it, especially since he's rejected much better suggestions that have been made.

There are new bitcointalk members, which use altcoin much more than members with mainly bitcoin wallets. This is the market trend, based on whole crypto market facts - currently altcoin market volume win over bitcoin. And also altcoin wallets are more and more, so people, who use them, need information.

Just some altcoin multi wallets support Bitcoin, but not almost all. Very popular MetaMask or Tronlink wallets, for example, do not support Bitcoin. All popular altcoins are also supported in hardware wallets. And the reason for the altcoin wallet board - altcoins are more and more popular, especially for new crypto users.
This statement needs proof. I explained to you that there are hundreds of Lightning Network topics, yet they did not get a sub-board, so why do you think that Altcoin Wallet needs that? Search for topics related to MetaMask or Tronlink wallets and you will find that their number is counted on fingers. This is if we ignore assuming that any multi-currency wallet that supports Bitcoin can be moved to Wallet software board.

Yep, newbies are lured by stories and hopes of getting rich quickly, which is why they are so drawn to alternative coins. I, myself, was once badly burned by this. But here on the forum, we advise newbies to first learn everything about Bitcoin and only then take on the risks of linking their histories with alternative coins. There are many newbies who believe in alts, but there are even more who get nothing from them.

I throw all wallet related topics in wallet software board, only once the topic was deleted. Back then didn't know the reason, however as I read the comments, I figure it was possibly because that wallet didn't support Bitcoin.

So I somewhat agree with op's suggestion, plenty altcoins, plenty altcoin wallets, plenty to discuss. However, majority seems to disagree here, so probably won't happen and they are right, this is Bitcoin forum and what altboards we have, it's generous enough.

Although this is Bitcointalk, I'm not hostile to altcoins. We already have very big altcoin section. Alternate cryptocurrencies board have enough subboards to fulfill needs. In fact, altcoin boards were used more in the past. The usage rate has dropped significantly in recent years. So it would be pointless to wait for new boards to be created.

That is not true. Almost all popular multi-cryptocurrency wallets support Bitcoin; you simply singled out two that work with EVM networks and do not support the Bitcoin network.

All popular altcoins are also supported in hardware wallets.

Also not true. There are hardware wallets designed specifically for Bitcoin that do not support any shitcoins.

And the reason for the altcoin wallet board - altcoins are more and more popular, especially for new crypto users.

Still irrelevant to the true purpose of BitcoinTalk.org forum.

Almost all wallets that support altcoins support Bitcoin, and the main reason for downloading a multi-currency wallet is that people do not risk trying many wallets. If these altcoins are not supported in hardware wallets or popular wallets, they will most likely be left on CEXs balance. also, altcoin withdrawal to wallets need to be monitored because it can be burned, restricting the possibility of sending it inside the wallet without the owner’s permission.

But if we assume the importance of this board, you will need a real reason, which is that there are enough topics to create it.

Can you collect 50 topics that talk about altcoin wallets? I will make a simple comparison, as this is a short list of topics[1] that talk about Lightning Network. The number of topics here exceeds 200. NOW Which is better, altcoin wallets board or Lightning Network board?

Op if I am not mistakenly there is an altcoin forum were all tells (discussion) of altcoin are being held
The most familiar is altcointalk i dont know how active is right now. I won't say anything about the suggestion since it's already repeated the reason behind.

What we should discuss about the pure altcoins wallet? a wallet that collect data and restrict few countries?, a closed source wallet?, a wallet that had a problem about security breach?

Everything I mentioned above related to how bad is altcoins wallet, what's the point to use those altcoins wallet when it's not a safe place to leave our coins? If you refer to hardware wallet, then there's a dedicated board for this discussion.

tl;dr no need to discuss about altcoins wallet, just avoid anything related to altcoins.

Op if I am not mistakenly there is an altcoin forum were all tells (discussion) of altcoin are being held and it will be helpful if you make used of that forum to present your feelings, as earlier said by some people above here is solely for bitcoin discussion so it carries all percentages of bitcoin discussion than related altcoin. Even as that this forum also has a section dedicated for altcoin discussions meaning for tells about altcoin you can easily relates it to that sections where you thinking could gain more attention.

Perhaps, do we really need altcoin wallet board?
Note this is a Bitcointalk forum and not altcointalk forum.

Not your keys, not your coins!
You have a board for altcoin projects, Service Announcements (Altcoins) and if you want to discuss about altcoin wallets, you have another board, Service Discussions (Altcoins).

If you want to have a forum for altcoin discussions, join https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php

New feature on AltcoinsTalks forum - you can teleport your rank from bitcointalk. I don't care about it because I only love Bitcointalk.

Bitcoin - $488,641,112,069, and first TOP10 altcoins - ETH - $185,507,720,235, Tether USDT - $82,980,995,714, BNB - $31,595,128,368,
Yeah you have to look it closer, the top 3 altcoins basically require the same type of wallet, as do the thousands of altcoins out there.
What if the question is like this: This is BTCitcointalk, admin shouldn't facilitate people talking about altcoins here. Btw, the place to talk about altcoins with more complete room is here https://www.reddit.com/r/altcoins/ or https://www.altcoinstalks.com

So, what is your point here? Bitcoin still holds its place as the most popular cryptocurrency with a market dominance that far exceeds any other individual altcoin. But even if not, does it really matter? As already pointed out, this is still Bitcointalk forum.

Would you, for example, go to vwvortex.com (a VW enthusiast forum) and suggest that they should have more Fiat-related boards?  Grin

OK let say Bitcoin dominance is now down. So what? This is still Bitcointalk forum, not altcointalk or cointalk forum

Shouldn't those altcoins also be having their own community forums. Last I remember, Altcoins like Ethereum, Litecoin tried to have their own forums away from Bitcointalk after launching from here?

What happened to their forums? Dead?
That is where they can have boards dedicated to wallets that support their chains. In Bitcointalk, they will have to post in the service announcements (altcoins) board or their specified ANN threads.

This is likely to the fact that most of this altcoin forums don't allow for discussion of other altcoins as well (it should be against their rules). Bitcointalk is likely the only popular forum that has a generalized board for any and all altcoin discussion. I agree that the board shouldn't be expanded more than it already is. Newer altcoins just needs to create their own dedicated forum for their users. Bitcointalk used to serve as an avenue to bootstrap community for altcoin projects  <= 2018.

Remind me again how does this relate to altcoin wallet?

Most shitcoin altcoin holders don't actually go for wallets based on how secure they are instead they go for popular and easy to use type of wallet that's why you'll see that majority of them use trust wallet or metamask, you can carry out a quick survey to figure it out yourself. As long as they can import their token into that wallet they are okay with it.

Only a few of them know their shit there.

I only stated facts, of course I'm right.

Most altcoin buyers don't even want to install the coin's wallet, usually they just keep it on an exchange. That tells you all you need to know about how "important" that coin is.

You have totally right and in fact I'm among those people who keep most of his altcoins in exchanges rather than installing their wallet software and withdrawing the coins into those wallets. I don't think that there is any need to withdraw altcoins to a personal custodial wallet. I love to keep them on exchanges instead. I actually bought those coins as a mistake and in order to fix my mistake I'm holding those useless coins. I don't think that I will get my money back that I invested in those altcoins, but still I will hold those on custodial wallet of the exchange rather than withdrawing them on my own wallet.

I also don't agree with the @OP and I must say that most of the forum members are not using altcoins more than Bitcoin and I must tell you to do proper research before saying something like that. This is Bitcointalk forum and here most of the members are interested in Bitcoin and things related to Bitcoin.

No, you are not right. People can use whatever they want, but as LoyceV pointed out, this is still BitcoinTalk.org. I argue that we don't need more altcoin boards; in fact, I would suggest removing some boards that are filled with nothing but spam.
