In the past, maybe what you say can be the truth. The old top 10 coins like namecoin and feathercoin are gone and all are losing values compare to bitcoin. However, this already have not been the case anymore. One good example is ethereum whereby it is recognised by the general and that is why it shot up in price. Even major fiat exchange recognised it and include ethereum in their system like gemini, coinhako etc.

bitcoin without altcoin less good and rapid development. because bitcoin prices increase due to the many people who transact between BTC and Altcoin. altcoin is a lot of variety and function then we must be more selective and wise in investing using altcoin

Guys, I own 6 different alcoins and during the dip i followed them all go down as the bitcoin was losing in value.  Then yesterday when things started stabilising they were all without any exception all rising in value as the bitcoin raised too. So if bitcoin is driving all prices up and down, what's the point of playing with altcoins if no matter what techonology they use and what team stands behind them they ll just follow the bitcoin lead? I am not sure about you but this last situation depressed me a lot, and I would love to read your opinion.
That's definitely untrue. Altcoins are best known for short term investments. Bitcoin indeed, has a much larger markwt value compared to most of altcoins but the rate of the increase on the market value of altcoins is way faster that makes it good for short term investment. ETH and PBT are two good examples. PBT have overtaken the price of Bitcoin lately, while Etherium's value is consistently increasing. And also, altcoins ahas also effect on the value of Bitcoin so it can't be considered as nothing.

Well, almost all altcoins maybe affected by btc but not all are going deep down  if btc goes too deep. SOme of which are just slightly affected. Altcoins are significant in challenging btc and somehow influences the ups and downs of its value.

Dont be a close minded person, altcoins contributed and helps the success of bitcoin to become more strong and stable. In trading you should be always fair and square in which there is always ups and down in the  market value. Competition is necessary important in trading to make things balance like bitcoin in which altcoins are the considered rivals for the success therefore it will just depend of traders how they will going to apply their skills to make their investments become a success.

Is ETH > BTC? What are thoughts on Tezos - the next ETH??

I believe QTUM has great potential, especially once it detaches to its own network.

In general, there was a different tendency earlier. If bitcoin increased in the course, altcoins fell and vice versa. However, now the altkoins really follow the bitcoin. But this does not mean that it will be so constantly. In addition, coins are created not only for trade. They perform a certain positive role in various spheres of the economy, such as banking, healthcare, the services market, and so on, and are all the same useful.

I do not believe on all altcoins do not matter because there are tokens that has a good use, but sadly they are not getting the attention unlike the bitcoin because only value matters after the ICO in my opinion. Ethereum is still kicking by the way, on the other hand there is a lot of talk regarding monetha and waves so not all altcoins do not matter.

Not really, altcoins provide a testing ground for new technologies and new types of algorithms for different kind of blockchains. Plus, it levels out the profit making aspect of btc too and lets newer members enter a less saturated market. ALtcoins that are made with literally no changes to an existing one and are mere copycats and which do not contribute to any change in technology are mostly used for pump and dump anyway.

I don't think all altcoins are a joke but the majority of them do seem pointless.  Bitcoin is king and what matters most.  Bitcoin prices can affect the whole market for good or bad.  Bitcoin related news can also affect things, so I would agree that Bitcoin does matter the most and their will never been an altcoin to replace Bitcoin.

If you dont feel anything that is making you to advance more with other currencies then stay with bitcoin.
The other part is some of us have seen the change that is why we support other coins.

I think some altcoin (ICO coins) follow the rise and drops of bitcoin. However, you need to look at the percentage gains and calculate if it's worth investing. Also, if you buy an alt and the alt rises while btc drops, it's a double win. Alt swing trading is good for short term gains, while btc is a longer term investment.

Look man, try and broaden up your mind. Alternative coins were not made to be just a mere competitor of bitcoin. Although it is good for bitcoin to have competition to make it stand out, alternative coins have a wide variety of purposes. While a bunch of them are shitcoins and scams, some really have great platforms that have great potential in helping not just the crypto world but a wide variety of things also. Read more on altcoin whitepapers man. Just try it.

Maybe you are right some useless altcoins are like a joke but 'joke' is not correct definition.
There are many good altcoins which are going to be permanent. But of course as a result bitcoin have a constant place in crypto.
