The last time I replied here was about the 48% btc dominance, at this moment it stands at 52.4%. Does anyone has any explanation why the hell this is happening? Everything falls down while BTC is mooning.

This could be because of the fork coming (Bitcoin Gold) in two weeks. People might want to have as much BTC in their wallet as possible since you'll get the same amount in BTG.

Maybe chinese or other (Nepal, Malaysia...) traders are cashing out due to governmental pressure and selling all their alts for BTC.

Maybe people are losing confidence in alt coins.

Maybe some witches cursed the markets.

Maybe....

All Cryptocurrencies are based on nothing more than a dream.  BTC and Altcoins together.  There is nothing backing them, and their value has nothing to do with how much has been invested in it's Market Cap.    That alone is just a fictitious number.  So that being said, the prices (value) rise and fall based on stable news/panic.  And when most people see the big guy falling BTC, they sell off their Alt coins as well, which causes the dip in price all over.  Remember with nothing backing the price, WE are the ones that choose the price.

As an investment though, BTC will for the upcoming future be the big giant.  More stable but not as likely to see a 1000% increase in an hour/day.  Many altcoins (but unfortunately not most) have a reason for being there.  From faster block times, being able to store more in blockchain to things like the basis of Cloud storage.  So don't count them out.  And they may even overtake BTC one day in terms of price and overall usability.   And right now they are volatile investments, which means while not as safe, they do ebb and flow with BTC prices but can see those 1000% daily increases on rare occasions.

Guys, I own 6 different alcoins and during the dip i followed them all go down as the bitcoin was losing in value.  Then yesterday when things started stabilising they were all without any exception all rising in value as the bitcoin raised too. So if bitcoin is driving all prices up and down, what's the point of playing with altcoins if no matter what techonology they use and what team stands behind them they ll just follow the bitcoin lead? I am not sure about you but this last situation depressed me a lot, and I would love to read your opinion.
Not all the times and you can able to say that because all of the alts go together with the price of bitcoin that you are holding.Altcoins are not a joke since we can able to make money on them too. There are instances on which prices are not correlated to each other some altcoins go together with the price of bitcoin either rise or down but not all the times alts ride with the flow with bitcoin. You would able to see that there are still some coins which are greens inspite on all coins are on reds together with bitcoin.

The reason this happens is happens I because you look at the dollar value. This is one of the major mistakes people make. You need to realize that most altcoins are being traded for bitcoin. Therfore if bitcoin loses usd value the usd value of the altcoins will logically decrease as well. This doesn't mean the btc value of the altcoin decreases.

You say this because trend is bearish now. If you were trading on altcoins 4 months ago you would think opposite. Altcoins will start to raise sooner or later. If you already bought, just HODL. You will make profit if you didnt buy a scam coin.

Not all the altcoins are a joke , yes , btc is the best for now . But this is a competition  race , we need some competitors to join in , we can not be sure which will be the best , only time will tell.

The profit really matters the reason alts were created was for people to try finding their luck when they had missed to invest in btc in it's early days. Surely no alt has been able to reach that price and in future I'm sure btc will be in the top but alts still give lot more profit than btc.
What i mean is if you bought 2 btc at $3k at $6k you will double your initial investment while with alt is you invest at $1 and it becomes $2 you still doubled your investment. The above is just a example but btc is becoming to expensive alt always take time to rise btc is falling and rising once it stabilised alts will also rise.

You need to put more work into that, if it was that easy we all be zillionaires by now.

Do a lot of research, find good entries, find good projects, plan your exits, then when you win more than you lose you're in the game.

Not to mention that a lot of BTC's dominance is eaten away by fake volumes of transactions from alts and ICOs... oh but wait, isn't Bitcoin also full of fake volume from spam transactions? Either way you look at it, alts have helped Bitcoin so much. You want evidence? See Litecoin and Segwit, Lightning Network. I love Bitcoin but don't trash the hard work of alts.

Guys, have you noticed the current bitcoin dominance is 48.6%? Only a few weeks back was 46.6%. The more altcoins appear the bitcoin just increases its dominance instead of losing it.

Earlier it was vice versa - when bitcoin rose, the altcoyins fell. Now there really is a general tendency for the altoquines to follow the bitcoin course. However, not all altcoyins follow on bitcoin. In addition, it makes sense to buy individual altcoyins, because some promising in the short term give an excellent result, which sometimes exceeds the growth of bitcoin.

Finally somebody that recognizes the truth. Of course the fact is that without these other coins then people wouldn't have as much use Bitcoin as an intermediary Source between one and the other. Most people use Bitcoin as a holding commodity while buying these other coins and that's something that would go down drastically if we took the other coins away.

I trade altcoins the way I trade stocks. If I'm looking at a buy setup for an individual stock, then I always look at the chart of the overall index, to make sure that the market is healthy. No matter how great a stock looks, if a major move downwards happens in the index, your stock will be crushed as well.

The same usually goes for altcoins. In this case, I like to think of BTC as the "index" and altcoins as individual stocks. There are definitely exceptions; sometimes alts can rally in the face of a BTC downtrend. But in general, I think it holds true.

I think choose a good coin coin altcoin in the market bittrex like okcash, kore, ptoy and others who are also potentially quickly experience price increases, with us trading in altcoin we can get multiple benefits, I think we should be patient in trading and read read the news and understand the charts.

I think it is not, you just need to know where to invest on the best altcoins. Those who had potentials like ethereum, but me personally I do not buy some altcoins because I know that the possibility of me lessing a money through it was high. I just join in a bounty campaign where I get some altcoins then I sell them. There is no loss even if I get a low money because I do not spend that much in it. I just invest some effort to serve that particular campaign. And yes bitcoins are successful but you can always loss money ig you just rely on buy and sell.

BTC needs competitors to make it grow , otherwise you can't see a better btc. That's the key of altcoins. I believe in that someday there will be some altcoins better than BTC.
That's true bitcoin needs an alternate coin or competitor  to make it grow, Because if we will focus only one coin the value of that is very easy to go down and big invest wants many coins to invest to play the market because if we focus on Btc to fiat only the market is not playable.
The other reason why developers make an altcoins to earn more profit so if their altcoin becomes successful they'll earn a huge profit but other developers getting greed and running the moneys of investors due to greediness that's why other countries banning icos because of that

Honestly i think altcoins are great, yes bitcoin is the absolute god of all cryptocurrencies, it always will be because it was grown from bottom to top as the first crypto. Plus, some altcoins come with advantages, some are more secure and have great trading opportunities (Like DeepOnion, XMR and ARK) Each coin on the market is different, the bad ones sink to the bottom. Still, it's great to see some coins with some bo$$ advantages to them! Cheesy

yes it's all true fact but I keep trying to earn income every month although not on the target expected. most importantly we must make the situation to be faced with an unyielding attitude and full of confidence that bitcoin prices will someday increase again.

it is not 100% true but you are not all wrong either.

altcoins are mostly moving down with bitcoin and when bitcoin rises they also get dumped too. because mostly people are interested in bitcoin alone. they want profit on bitcoin and when the bitcoin market becomes exciting they all switch over to that market and leave altcoins in the dust.

but there are still some rare altcoins with some good features. although many of them don't become famous and most altcoins are shit anyways. and as for profit all of them are good investments as long as you invest in them at a good time.
