Maybe a third generation blockchain like AION will replace ethereum in the future. Third generation blockchain has many advantages over ethereum(second generation) . For example AION can make interblockchain communication, it will be like an internet of blockchain.

I think the alternative that competes with ETH is BCH because of the great potential of BCH to compete with ET of course. There are some that are almost identical, but no one can compete fully with ETH.It is difficult to compete with a well-earned ETH from all existing altcoins.

Yes, I would also agree to use ERC20 if it is remade better. But I think ETH will go down in the near future and NEO will occupy the position of ETH. NEO is having a lot of great projects on their spectacular change, I love their new ideas.
Investors are attracted to them and their prices will rise in the next few days. By the end of 2018 there will be a spectacular costume pump. please wait.

There are already a number of tokens that rival ETH if you're talking about its smart contract capacity, e.g. NEO and Zilliqa, however these two don't have the userbase behind them that ETH does, despite being technically superior. I don't think these will ever overtake ETH either so there really is no point having additional smart contract capable cryptos, as ETH will likely remain number one.

How could waves be a rival with ETH while if we look at the list Waves are been much far adopted by anyone, Maybe we could look for its closest neighboor listed on coinmarketcap since those one are great coins with great volume. But there are huge chances or monero or even Dash to get covered if people will find more reliable one to hold or use with.

Of course we does as long as its helping everyone to transact faster and cost of fees are even cheaper than ETH. The two that I can see now is NEO and NEM, popularity of these two is increasing and there are projects that are using their platforms to generate new coin.

I think a lot of people keep forgetting that stellar can run smart contracts as well, and it was already used for some ICOs as well, because it can. It also has the IBM partnership and it's still a very under-evaluated coin in my opinion. I don't really know how they would handle scalability, but the ICOs that chose it over ethereum, one of them raising around $39M, said that they preferred that platform because it would be faster than ether to run their product.

Talking about the platform that will beat ERC 20 because of better speed and lower fees it pretty much the same as talking about the altcoin that will beat BTC because it will have have better speed and lower fees. Both ETH and BTC have a plenty of such "competitors". The number of BTC competitors is just countless. But for some reason all those altcoins with brand bew wonderfull features are not taking the first places on CMC. Even more, it is hard to find projects that based on their platform. There are more projects that develop their own blockchain then the ones that using NEO or NEM, all their price is fully speculative and doesn't care any value. That's the answer for the main question.

I think NEO can be a big competitor in the future, according to its rising popularity. I think it will be better if we see some altcoins which are as strong as ethereum.

if between stellar and neo i still believe in neo coins. because neo coins can have good potential and different from stellar coins that until now in some market has decreased drastically, so that's my opinion more trust neo.

I think we don't need to create a new coin that rivals etherium , coz the market is ( pretty saturated ) full of such altcoins that have strength & promising project ideas, which can qualify to compete With Eth .
Examples ? NEO, EOS ( Eth killer ) , GOLEM...see this

Well to be honest there are lots of coins nowadays that could rival Ethereum but what i really think that is on par and has potential to overthrow ETH is none other than NEO, i really think that this coin is better in overall category. It is like an upgraded version of Ethereum with Chinese market behind its back.

Rich people in the cryptocurrency always understand that if the coin is really promising and has the potential as an ethereum, then it will surely be in the top of all coins, as it was with Neo, whose price has grown in the crazy number of times
