Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks
Hello everyone, I am a newbie and am in dire need of help as I'm eager to learn but I have little or no experience on how to navigate through the forum.
I joined the forum late 2022 but most of my discussions are being moved to off topics, probably because my discussions aren't of good qualities.
One of the reasons why I got depressed and left but I am back now, in good health and sane mind, ready to learn to improve the quality, and also give back positive impact to the community.
Pardon me with my words OP, but you're a bit sensitive IMO.

Most of your discussions are moved to off-topics and you got depressed already? I looked at your past topics that you've made, and fair enough, they really are good to be in the off-topic section. Mood Swings? K-Pop? Breakfast? Where you will put that thread that you created especially that K-pop thing LOL!!! Looking at the threads you created and your name, I assume that you're a female that's a bit sensitive. My apologies with my words, but as you stay longer here, you will hear criticisms, maybe some foul words, and some hurtful opinions coming from different users. Are you ready for that? If yes, then welcome back. Smiley

Please kindly recommend me books and guide on how to be better.
Thanks in advance
When I was starting, I only read books about financial literacy. I didn't read books about crypto because there wasn't any at that time (or there are some, but not that popular). There are 2 things that helped me learn more about crypto. Bitcointalk, and YouTube. Reading threads here, and watching documentaries online. Those 2 helped me learn more about crypto, and what I learned there is what I'm sharing here. I continued to read, and watch until I learned the basics only. Cheesy No time for the coding part or the complex ones.

Anyway, welcome back and I hope you will stay, and learn here. As for the rules, many have said it already. Continue learning, and invest in Bitcoin. Tongue

The only way you can learn in the forum is bt reading and scanning through other people's post to see how they do there thing.
You need to be ready to read and read more often than trying to make post. In this way, you are going to learn more faster than trying to read books which is not bad but that could take you slower which is still a good way to do your things.
There are many ways we could learn from the forum either by reading books or trying to do more if research so that you could get to understand somethings about the crypto world. Do your findings and own it down.
Good luck on your journey!

Hello everyone, I am a newbie and am in dire need of help as I'm eager to learn but I have little or no experience on how to navigate through the forum.

Maybe you will have to give it the required time and efforts in reading more than you often post here, this will help you in a lot ways to get used to the forum, but you will have to start from the forums rules and regulations, once you're done with that, then you get used to many of the pinned threads and what others are discussing on meta board and reputation, if you're not active, you're not likely to get used to some of these things needed to know about the forum because the more you go the clearer you see.

I joined the forum late 2022 but most of my discussions are being moved to off topics, probably because my discussions aren't of good qualities.

Exactly, you need to have an idea on what you're making a post on, not that you just make a reply that will carry less quality content or off topic reply, and such will not be deleted, you can read further from this.

Maybe the reason why this forum contributed to your depression is because you took it very seriously. This forum is just like every other platform where people engage in discussions and nothing more. Don't see the attacks or moving of your post off-topic as anything serious just enjoy the discussions. I am happy that you discovered the reason why your posts were moved and you are back to contribute to the forum. My only advice is to read more and post less. Keep learning and expanding your knowledge about Bitcoin and the forum and you will end up becoming a quality poster. In my early days in this forum, I focused more on learning and would ask questions or do research to learn anything I didn't understand in the course of learning. However, reading the Bitcoin Whitepaper will also give you foundational knowledge about Bitcoin.
I guess everyone has experienced that off-topic posts, but the fact that you consistently experience it, then there must be something wrong on your chosen threads or your discussion is not on point to your topic or thread, so it’s normal to move it to off-topic. However, do not see it as a failure but treat it as your challenge to make your post right and refrain from participating in a discussion where you have no relevant information to add.

Maybe you take this too seriously that you forgot to enjoy the forum instead. Just improve your reading habit and I’m sure, you’ll eventually make a quality and precise post throughout the process. Keep calm and never pressure yourself, instead motivate yourself more and keep learning from others relevant posts.

Welcome back to the forum. I don’t want to believe that people get depressed over merits and ranks. Now that your back, I suggest you develop your interest in Bitcoin, be active in your local board and be consistent in posting. Your old topics were moved to off-topic section because they were more fitted to that board. It should not be surprisingly to you that a topic that has nothing to do with Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies is not getting any merits.  That’s something you should work on changing.

Hello everyone, I am a newbie and am in dire need of help as I'm eager to learn but I have little or no experience on how to navigate through the forum.
You spent time here, made 40 posts here, wrote this topic but did not spend your time to read pinned thread in Beginners & Help.

Newbies - Read before posting.

When you read that pinned thread, you will get a link to a topic for forum rules.

Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ

Off-topic - "Other topics that might be of interest to bitcoiners"
If you did not create those topics and only replied in those topics, that later were moved to Off-topic board, read them again and try to understand why those topics were moved to Off-topic board, then avoid to reply in similar threads.

If you created those threads, stop creating similar threads because your similar threads will be moved to Off-topic board again.

Being active in the forum will only be the solution to your problem. Although reading other resources is also a good option, but the forum alone is already highly proven effective for learning even for beginners. Note that posts that are made without good analysis will often be mark as off-topic, so don’t rush in posting if you are clueless on how to make your post right. Try to gain insights and ideas first from those legendary ranks and learn from their way of posting, that helped me before so I’m sure that will also help you as well.

The summary of it all is read all pinned threads and engage in active quality discussions. You are good to go.
That’s all the OP needs and how to use the forum search bottom to avoid posting an existing thread.

Furthermore, the OP needs to be active and interaction quality discussions going on in the forum, it will help the OP very well because going through comments alone can be enough to learn in this forum.

Being eager to learn is good, but learn with caution and avoid following any news from social media.

This book can be useful because it always recommended to beginners that need basic knowledge about Bitcoin

It needless to even create this thread in the first place since there is tons of threads that already discussed this same or similar topics of how to navigate yourself around the forum.

It's not hard and we all started the same way as you being confused at first, but the only thing I can suggest to you is for you to read the rules and regulations of this forum very well and after that you read a lot of comments that are posted on any topic you fine interesting, spend more time in reading than writing and also chose to respect other and always buy into new ideas that are superior to your own Understanding.

Based on the time frame you said you joined this forum, you're expected not to be addressed as a newbie here in the forum. Better of you can say you've been here for those while and yet haven't been able to make quality posts.
I don't mean to get you more depressed but I can tell you that there are forum users who signed up to this forum by the beginning of the year who're currently doing well and they're being so proud of themselves.

What's the different between you and these described forum users? It's simple to be denotedemoted by understand the reality fact that they were submittedbwjd dedicated to learn nomatter how  hard the situation maybe such as uneasy to cope with the forum and the forum users criticisms at them will be tolerated to say that it's either then learn in the hard way of the other ways.
Meanwhile you were at the thought of being a master even at your learning stages and when you're being sanctioned or corrected or even when you're seemed not to be recognized, toyou'd always feel sentimental. This would really be why you got depressed, giving such long break from the forum without being able to achieve an aim or the primary reason why you were here since all those while.

Let me tell you Op, the forum hasn't really changed from what you may think you'd be thought with a sympathy emotions. Psychologically who doesn't want to learn will never learn untill they're dedicated and submissive to learning with all diligence.
I wish you good luck at your returned. So welcome back fellow. Do well check out the fellas replies also the provided links for they'd profer help to your learnings.
Good luck.

Go engage other users on experienced-based thread questions . Post/answer on fact-based thread questions with sources and avoid very long repeated, boring reply, posting on opinionated thread won't give you merit too.
But first in the list, read the forum rules, board-specific rules (most sre stickied), understand and follow it.

The reason for your threads or topics getting moved to off-topic isn't because they are of low quality, if posts are of low quality, serve no purpose, or are repetitive, they are removed and aren't moved to off-topic. The reason probably is that you are posting your threads and topics in the wrong sections, and they must have no clear indication about what they are discussing so they are moved to off-topic section.
And you shouldn't get depressed because of that, you should learn from your mistakes and grow with that. You should check out the rules of the forum and follow them, and try to surf more and post less if you think you don't know much as of now.

OP, my first thought was, grow up and stop asking for spoon feeding. That's somewhat harsh, maybe? Maybe not.

I took a quick look over your post history and I'm not going to comment much about it as I didn't want to spend time to look closer and see your posts also in the context of those threads where you decided to engage. As others said, you mostly write in sections that are likely rarely honored with merits.

What is your goal here? What do you want to achieve? Think about it and don't take those two questions too easy.

For me this forum is mainly a forum about Bitcoin, crypto coins in general, but I focus mainly on Bitcoin only, anything related to that. I discovered Bitcoin around 2011. Did I understand some details of it back then? Not really, looking back from today's perspective. Back then I certainly thought about my knowledge differently. Overconfidence can be a problem... Grin

I had my first account in those early years, lost it due to a forum hack and wasn't able or willing to recover it. I wasn't terribly active with my first account and not very successful, too, in terms of merits and rank. So, I didn't cry tears for abandoning my first account. All I knew was, I had to do better with my now second account.

But I didn't really focus on developing my current account. All I realised was to have a different posting attitude, less ranting, more constructive engagement and contribution. Less negative bits, more positive. Yes, you can blow off some steam from time to time, but better not constantly.  Cheesy

I admit I don't care much about various topic corners which also exist in this forum. I'm here mostly for topics around Bitcoin. All I know about Bitcoin, I learned here or myself at various other nice websites. And I'm still learning...

Depressed? For what exactly? You are eager to rank up for signature else I don't think ranking up in this forum worth been depressed but don't get me wrong, there is nothing absolutely wrong in signature earnings.

I want to highlight some of the mistakes and things you are doing wrong since you registered into this forum. You have been making threads about life situation that are neither politics or speculation and those kinds of threads belong to off topic discussion, all boards in this forum are created for special discussion, so when you post something that is not related, they take it off.

Secondly, you haven't been active in places where merit are most time available, you should visit places that are not spamming like the altcoin discussions and the rest that do have less engaging threads.

Soln: Take your time and read this:- Newbie-Read before posting, learn about everything Bitcoin and understand why you need to learn about Bitcoin and you will be fine.

As someone has already pointed out, "Read the pinned tweet of every board before posting"
Your post being moved to "off-topic" doesn't necessarily mean your post isn't of good quality, it may be because your post doesn't fit right in any of the available boards.
I'd advise you to read more. When you read you'll learn and when you learn you'll have something to impact others. You can't give what you do not have.
You said you need to improve, the only way you can improve is to read and research. Have a critical mind and ask questions. You're here to learn about Bitcoin and everything related to it and this is a perfect place for that.

If you must make a post, make sure it's on the right board and make sure it has quality. Something that can impact or help other forum members in any way. Before commenting on a post, read and understand the post, also read a few replies on the post, so you don't make a post not related to the curry discussion.
Your first goal is to learn, then you can impact others on what you have learned.

Message @Hhampuz if you are looking for a CM!
You know, if you think you are still not capable enough to make good discussion, then focus on learning first and learn from the post of other forum members. No one will force you to make posts, but always be active in the forum and explore the different boards as well so you will gain an idea what kind of thread that receives more merits and those who are not.

The forum is giving us an opportunity to make quality posts, and within that opportunity, maximize your time in learning from the posts of higher rank members until you get to absorb your own and make your own quality post in the making.

We are both newbies and any advice I give you now, I want you to know that I am using the same advice too.

Just like you I don't know my right from my left in this forum but I have hardened my mind to take criticism as it comes because I know as a newbie criticism is inevitable, most of your post are in the off topic section and I don't think it's a good thing, try to engage and explore more on other section and if you don't understand anything please don't join in the discussion, try to follow some of our top rankers and study the way they post and engage in the forum. Do not copy anyone, be your original self, we are all anonymous here so don't let what you see here affect your mental health.

Below is a link to an interesting thread I came across with in the forum and I think it will help you https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.49737807

This is just on online forum, do not give it so much importance that it affects your mental health.
