I think you'll find Taylor mentioned it in response to a direct question about it in interview. What else is he supposed to do? You are making out as if he held a press conference just to mention Bitcoin. He didn't it was mentioned in an interview in a question and his reply was 'we've looked at it and we don't want it'. If you think them looking at it is huge then you must get excited easily. Obviously they've looked at it after the exposure it has had.

It's optimism

If the major papers are making a story on it... why not use it to your best advantage? He's the head of amazon payments, he's been watching it for a while. He probably has some of the best intelligence on new payments options of anyone on the planet.

However the bitcoin community alone WILL NOT be able to do it. We need to really keep doing what we're doing and spreading the word to shops, app devs, web site devs, etc, whatever is needed, and spread the word.

Amazon is smart enough to know that the first batch of letters will be bitcoin people I think. Tom is watching like a hawk, this could be a turning point in his career, so he's going to play this as smart as possible.
