I just picked up a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 motherboard for making a 6 GPU X11 coin miner, and it came with a Sempron 145 single core CPU, and I thought that would be enough, since mining doesn't use much CPU power.

Boy was I wrong,  even with the PC just idling, the CPU is pegged at 100%!  When trying to mine and change GPU parameters with 4 GPUs in it, it is so lagged down that it displays the sgminer 4.1.0 letters so slowly that you can watch each individual letter being printed.

This is beyond ridiculous, I'm checking ebay now for a dual core AM3 style CPU.

I have a few GPU miners running on cheap Intel Celeron dual cores, like the G530 and G550, and they snap along nicely, but this single core AMD sucks big time!  It is getting replaced very soon!

How many little icons do you have on the bottom right of your screen?

I've got three Gigabyte motherboards with that same CPU (processor). But only 5 GPUs per rig. They run fine.
