how many have you gotten working together stable on one rig?

To get them VEGAs stable you need to do some scripting. My VEGAs run at full speed for a few hours then suddenly they just stop. No errors or hang, they just simply stop mining using Cast XMR or XMR-STAK. Either use the "JJ restart script" you can find on reddit/google or write your own script. I initially tried the devcon.exe and and JJ restart script but found it doesn't work for me. I just wrote a script that reboots my computer every hour. 2 lines of code did it and my VEGA rig is now running stable.

The 2 lines of code were:

Code:
Sleep(360000)
Shutdown("restart")

That goes back to unreasonable amount of time spent to make a broken shit product work.....

Cancer.

Glad I decided NOT to buy that garbage.
Anyone ever make progress on these here besides geekmark

setup a single FE rig and its giving me headaches

after some complex driver voodoo that I cant repeat the FE is running at 2050H/s

hoping to put 6 total on this rig and its looking like a tall mountain Undecided

Please share your wisdom obiwan, I am desperate

FE info starts on pg 8

i have them mining ETH at 46+MH/s stable details at the link above

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vegas are the supercars of GPUs, as long as telemetry, fuel and tyres are good you are faster than anything else around

mine are running care free at top speed because i build UP TO 6 VEGA rigs and are very careful with ALL the deatails (outlined in the thread link above)
if you are a novice messy shortcut taking impatient low elec expecting miner do not use VEGAS, they are not for you

Thanks for the info but I can't even imagine why you would use a Vega for ETH. You must like just making less money. Only as a last resort would I mine ETH with the Vega.

As of now, I believe I am getting new cards. But again, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

There's a good chance you're either being scammed or misled. No one is selling the cards you've listed for those prices right now anywhere. All GPUs come from the same factories in China and there's just not enough of them, most are bought by large farms pretty much straight from the factory and whatever crumbs are left go for very high prices to the retail. Just be careful and don't pay anyone in advance.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I have decided to only pay cash on delivery.

He is talking prices for second hand I'm fairly sure.  Its possible, I have seen prices that low but not many of them, maybe he just knows a repair shop or something.     The alternative is they arent fully tested which is risky.

What is the point of buying AMD cards? You are quite limited, ETH and Monero mining mostly.

and equihash coins - ZCL, ZEC, ZEN, BTG, HUSH, KMD.
And cryptonight coins - XMR and ETN being the most prevalent.
And ethereum  coins - PIRL, ELLA, ETH, ETC, MUSIC, UBIQ, EXP. Not to mention the dual mining for SIA, DECRED, etc.

You can also mine the NeoScrypt, Pascal, and Skunkhash based coins as well.

Its not as limited as one may think. and the equihash are quite profitable right now. But I do agree NVidia > AMD for options/flexibility. I run a mix of 50/50 right now but that is due to card availability.

Skunk is very easy to mine and tune for, likes a higher core speed and is ideal for anyone who is mining and actually also using the card in a system.  Just needs core temp below 70c generally

Cant speak on the VEGAs but I always build a triangle matrix when selecting cards that has cost, power and hashrate...lets just say the vega never even makes it on the top 10 list because its cost and power always lopside the triangle. CAST XMR will allow it to run 2kh/s for XMR/ETN which will help make the Vega great, but thats limited to really two main coins, only one of which is really profitable right now.

Vegas are not just good a cryptonight algo coins xmr, etn, sumokoin but also good at Ethereum mining.  Earlier Vegas weren't appealing enough cause of the power consumption but at 130w-150w and 2k hashrate on cryptonight and 43-44 on ETH makes them really great cards for mining.  Vegas are getting sold for $800+.  Although, people buying them at these prices are "Nonem"

Okay people,
I am getting
VEGA 64 8GB for 470$
RX 480 8GB for 235$
RX 580 8GB for 395$
RX 570 8GB for 315$
GTX 1070 8GB for 285$
R9 295X2 OC 8GB for 710$

Which is a better buy?
Any recommendation?

I'd love to know where you can find those at those prices and actually available....if you are looking at nextwarehouse or asoola you'll get them in about 6 months if they even come.

RX480/580 is basically the same card but the 480 does better on power stock. If you can get an 8gb rx480 for $235 buy every one available...thats at/below msrp. RX570 has 4 less compute nodes (32 vs 36) but is the same polaris chipset as the 48/580 so its definately worth less than the others, but still viable at the price you posted.

1070 also a great card, can mine more than the nvidias and I find is more stable in windows after final 10 update than the radeons. Also a spectacular price at $285.

R9 295X2 is similar to the RX580, both of which are closer to 1060's, not 1070s.

Personally Id buy up all the 1070s first, then if I had money left over all the 480s. but unless you are buying used from somone that doesnt know what ebay is...I dont think those prices are real in todays market.

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply!
I got a source to buy from. But can't count my chickens before they hatch. I'll update if I actually buy and build a rig. Currently searching the internet for guides.

that's insanely cheap.  If you're talking USD then I highly doubt those prices are true.

Amazing to see how stupid these noobs are by paying $900 for a vega.

The mid range cards are probably doing better when including cost of the card and cost of elec.   The reasonably best ETH MH I saw for Vega was 47 but I imagine others have got higher?

Vega doesnt have to run hot if it undervolts well, that varys but alot can go much lower then anything stock indicates initially.   XMR appears the most profitable but ETH is very bullish crypto for a while now.

Do you have any frontier vega's and if so what are your settings?

This Geek Mark already did all the work for you.

Can anyone shoot me to a guide for getting FE's setup on Ubuntu?  At this point I'm ok with my 4 FE's doing 1500-1600 reliably in one rig instead of 3 rigs like I'm running now to get full 2100 Sad

I...
install ubuntu 16.04 LTS
install blockchain drivers
install AMDSDK
fix grub
fix groups
fix symbolic link

compile xmr
and it doesn't find any AMD devices.

If I do lspci -nn | grep -E 'VGA|Display' I get 03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Vega 10 [Radeon Vega Frontier Edition]

If swap the FE out for a 580 or similar it recognizes and hashes just fine.

What am I missing?!?!?!?!
