Many gamblers sees gambling as a place to constantly make money and that is a wrong mindset, they'll become greedy and start chasing loses which always results to addiction. If a gambler doesn't structure his gambling habit, it'll be easier to become addicted and eventually becomes a degenerate. The answer is to learn a strategy for responsible gambling which will always serve as a reminder anytime the urge to gamble irresponsibly occurs. My strategy is never to chase loses or use wins to continue gambling, I will only use the bankroll that is budgeted for gambling. I can slightly increase the bankroll which must still be amount that I can afford to loose rather than using wins to gamble.
One of the best strategies to apply so as not to get addicted is by working on schedule. Keeping a specified amount to gamble after you must have removed the total amount to be used for your monthly expenses is one of the best strategies to keep you gambling habit responsible. However while using this strategy you can also work on yourself by removing some amount from your wins should in case you make huge profits off that session. Though the urge of chasing after more win or loss is alway constant but what matters the most is your ability to make the right choice of not gambling above your budget.
Only deposit the amount you can afford to lose. A very old piece of advice but it just boils down to that simple task that you need to follow every time you want to gamble. And stop once you busted that bankroll. Just go back when you have extra funds again. Don't push your luck to the extent that you will borrow money to sustain your gambling activities.
From my personal experiences, I can tell you it's not actually easy to do, more like the common saying that some things are better and easier to say than do..
I've had some gambling experiences where i was playing a game, winning and losing which is normal, losing more than I was winning and at a particular point, my entire bankroll was gone, and just at that moment, I felt a very strong urge to deposit more money and keep playing,
1. Because I was still enjoying the game.
2. I need to win back what I have lost and who knows, this deposit might land me some serious wins that could make me the ton of money I've been longing for for quite a long time now..
At stages like this, it usually takes me a very strong determination to not deposit and continue playing, and what also helps me is that I am not addicted.
Now, imagine what an addicted, or even partially addicted gambler will do in such a situation.
