In my opinion, I don't think that bitcoin will become obsolete one day as this has just started to become more popular nowadays. Bitcoin will live forever so does the altcoins too and I believe that one day bitcoin's rise may reached to it's heights beyond everyone's expectation. People should not be affected of what had happened to the crypto market and they should instead continue to support and believe in bitcoin for it will recover in the coming months.

As long as there are still people who knew about bitcoin, it will not fade and be obsolete. I have heard that predictions so many times before. Another fud, trying to affect the price. I will really believe on that prediction if the price will maybe reach down and back to $1000 which is very impossible.

Thinking on the higher plane of existence.
Let's clarify: He didn't say Bitcoin will be obsolete one day, he said blockchain technology will be. He also said that it will be on the basis that intelligence agencies will be able to decrypt it.
That is also the same as saying that all crypto that exists now will be obsolete one day because they all run using blockchain technology. Nevertheless, I don't see blockchain technology being obsolete soon, IMO there are a lot of things that can be improved from it before we move on into seeing a superior technology being invented. Also, It will also take time before intelligence agencies decrypt it because they would need to use a supercomputer that is capable of quantum computing.

It is much feasible to say that the one that will obsolete one day is bitcoin. As of now the price of bitcoin is due to its fame and long duration in the market. If we will talk about its main function, many altcoin surpass it, its just that people trust it more because of the second reason mentioned. But if this reason is also occurred to altcoin, no doubt bitcoin will be gone.

bitcoin has experienced the year 2017 sublimation and has hit the milestone price of $ 20,000 a bitcoin, Bitcoin is constantly experiencing difficulties and has many times lost the carpet recently. Bitcoin is losing its place in the race for new currencies.

bitcoin will be obsolete. It is increasingly under strict control by governments as well as lagging behind new generation algorithms. Bitcoin is slowly losing its place in the number one position.

There will be upgrades soon of course in order to be updated. I think some coins may beat bitcoin in the top position but it will probably take years to happen. Bitcoin is still the most popular and most widely used. The crypto trading market are nearly all bitcoin based and many local exchanges accepts only bitcoin and maybe some few alts.

Today with the birth of many coin called altcoin With the massive development of the altcoin, also with the fluctuation of a still very young market, investing in altcoin always implies risks and opportunities. So bitcoin is still the # 1 choice for investors.

To say bitcoin will be obsolete is just to add to the pressure the cryptocurrency is passing through. Every development has a time of refinement. There is added values to the blockchian and bitcoin, as we see the emergence of other block chains like ethereum, ripples, EOS etc. Yet, all are running side by side with the bitcoin blockchian because they serve similar yet diverse purposes. So to predict the obsolescence of bitcoin from now is hasty.

Let's clarify: He didn't say Bitcoin will be obsolete one day, he said blockchain technology will be. He also said that it will be on the basis that intelligence agencies will be able to decrypt it. Well, good luck with that I suppose.

I do think blockchain technology being obsolete is an inevitability though, but unlike Friedman, I think it's going to take a couple of lifetimes, and it's going to be because of a similar but superior technology being invented.

The great thing about Bitcoin is that it is adaptable to any threat, because it is programmable code. When the intelligence agencies come up with a method to decrypt it then developers just improve the encryption techniques to make it harder to decrypt it.

Most of the current security features are built on the same technology that Bitcoin is built on, so these technologies would also be exploited.   Roll Eyes

Where is my ring of blades...
LOL what's next? the sky is blue and the earth is round! maybe he is going to go to hospitals and tell the infants that come out of the womb that they are going to die some day Cheesy

the technology that was used 2000 years ago is obsolete today because it is either improved or replaced by a newer, better technology. but that technology was used in its own time for a long time and was the best thing in its time. same goes with cryptography. it is an evolving battle where it gets stronger and better and people continue trying to break it.

this is the dumbest topic in this board that i have seen this month.
"analyst" my ass. first of all this is stating the obvious. it is like saying the Apple iPhone that came out today will be obsolete one day! well of course it will, but it will remain the shit for many years.
secondly it just shows that the author doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. he is basically saying the intelligence services will break the encryption used in the blockchain technology so it will become obsolete. (just a parenthesis here, this encryption is not specific to bitcoin or the technology, it is used in thousand different places. one should wonder why he has never mentioned those 1000 other places will be obsolete too).
now the problem is the "encryption" he is talking about is not used to hide stuff, it is used for security. everything is open to public on the blockchain for everyone to see! and why would intelligence services want to break the security? what would they gain?
besides just like anything before (like SHA1) when there is a remote chance of them being  weak they simply are replaced by a much stronger one (like SHA1 becoming obsolete years before it could begin to be broken and replaced by SHA2)

There are two types of supporter all over the world. Some people took it positively and some are negative. They who cannot accept the change they took it as negative. They primarily hate it, but now they are fighting against it. But we know bitcoin will won the battle at the end. Because bitcoin is the decentralized digital currency which is based on modern technology. And every technological invention is made through the young people of the society. And it is firstly accepted by them. So, there is no doubt it will win the race no matter who are against it.

I agree, more and more people are supporting cryptocurrencies and I don't have any idea what will be the reasons why will become obsolete one day. We are in a new technology and I believe bitcoin will become more popular and powerful.

The predictor says its useful,  its visible, but one day it will be obsolete.
One thing I want to say people wants to says negatively.  this is a new technology, we can't appreciate new things.

I may think that also but it surely takes years for that. Once people never find good things about these, they might just ignored Bitcoin. Since bitcoins shows potentiality as new form of currency and easy to used, people still enjoying it.
The advancement of this technology bring excitement to the community and gives them curiosity. Aside from that, Bitcoin investment is really profitable that's why a lot of people are now engaging in these. But the question is how long does bitcoin shows like that? Hopefully it takes many years of its potentiality.

If you search about the future of bitcoin in google now, you will find many different opinions about the future of it. They are completely different. An analyzer believe that bitcoin will be a global currency and another one thinks quite the opposite. We just should wait to see the future. Don't pay attention to what people say.

Anybody can make different opinions on BTC, just because they are analysts who are paid special attention!
Many celebrity predictions of BTC have later proved to be wrong. We need to be patient with BTC. BTC will give us a better future!

It's misleading it's not bitcoin but blockchain he may be correct or he isn't. Technology is a fast pacing place where everything is innovating. I don't think it will be obsolete but somehow it can be upgraded. There will be a better tech than blockchain soon but still it is here to stay. Every tech that has come alive became obsolete so he is also saying some point but we don't know when it will happen. To those that are defending bitcoin, you've gotta read the article, we all love bitcoin but read it.

Learning the troll avoidance button :)
It depends on the malleability and willingness to change.

If not Bitcoin then we will see a fork that addresses the issue be the one that moves into the future.

Blockchain is and will be around for years to come it is still on the cutting edge of technology and it will take several years for the next bleeding edge technology to replace it once it is an adopted paradigm.
