As you can see, the most people want back to the limit of 42 coins. In the case of 1:2 swap, the mining period will be short with low profitability, so I don't see a reason to add PoW.
But I don't want to reach the limit of 42 fast because I do not know how to motivate people to support the network by keeping nodes online after the end of mining. Maybe we should increase the block time to 420 seconds/7 minutes, this will slow down the emission and also reduce the orphans rate?

1:3 swap, 1:4... 1:42 Smiley is not a good solution, in my opinion.
Even 1:2 swap is not very good for 42 coin reputation, further diluting can be considered as a scam by the crypto community.
The block time really can be increased, it doesn't matter a lot, as 42 coin is not a coin for everyday payments.

Edit: of course miners will vote to dilute the total supply as much as possible,
but to whom they are going to sell it finally? More coins will lead to lower prices, so nothing to gain.

+bump
no on swap / better snap shot, and just slide the decimal

example:
78 coins in old 42chain, become 0.078 on new chain; change reward to 0.00000042
fork to AuxPow / mergemining; when total coins hits 42 then it is TX fee only, like iXc is now, you'll have the hash still because Merged Wink

New voting option added (to extend mining period): "Make 42 coins max (1:3 swap), 0.00000042 max PoW+PoS reward until reaching 42 coins".

i really think this will work

42 Coin blockchain snapshot has been updated on CryptoChainer.com.  It's current as of 6/11, and will get you in sync right away.

Thank you very much for supporting 42! "Blockchain Snapshot" section has been updated in the first post.

Interesting project. I made a great profit off of 42 coin back when cryptsy was around. I will be keeping an eye on this.

Make a good quality working wallet that connects to the network easily and I will give it a try. Hopefully there is still a place to mine the coin.

I have an old 42 coin wallet from 2 years ago, will I still be able to access my fraction of a coin from this old wallet?

Yes. Version 0.7.0.0-gbff08fa-beta is still alive. If you have problem with synchronizing, try to add nodes from the first post and block ports #9538, 9556, 9065, 9336, 9333, 7999, 11081, 28753, 9526, 19904, 9771.

the most interesting feature of 42coin was a hard limit of 42 coins in existence,
and many alt-coiners remember 42coin, and many own it, it's a coin from an Altcoin Golden Age.
if you want to make it interesting again (as a collectible, there is no another use of it), you have to find the way how to burn unwanted extra coins,

Make 420 coins max, 10x PoS reward reduction each 42 coins (0.00004200/~0.5yr, 0.00000420/13.3yrs, 0.00000042/932yrs).
-  then you should rename a coin (420), but it's not a great idea as 420 is nothing, 42 is everything.
42. The number has received considerable attention in popular culture resulting from its central appearance in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as the "Answer to The Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything".

Make unlimited PoW+PoS emission with exponential moving difficulty/reward adjustment according to Moore’s Law (NVC-like).
or Leave all as it is
- then would be considered as a scammy and not interesting coin with failed idea, and probably nobody would buy it.

i'm voting leave it as it is
but there are some really good options posted ... so i suggest lengthy discussion before a hardfork

i would favor the 420max, trans to a POS but keep pOW going for at least 12 more months, that will allow time to find the perfect algo emissions and build a new network

also like AUX POW sha256 Wink

okay.. but it does not really help.. i used the addnodes from this topic here.. i now only have correct nodes.. i deleted all except wallet.dat.. i downloaded all the blocks again.. i see that the other have correct heights.. but i also get stuck!
might there be a problem with my linux compilation?

Try to download blockchain from here: https://tr.im/42blockchain and replace all files in your 42 database directory.

It seems that you have compiled your wallet after funkenstein "limited edition" patch has been applied, that is why it stuck at block #990381. Actual code source is here: https://github.com/Laser9un/42.
great! this helps Smiley thank you!

This is a well known problem with all 42 clients (included the latest v. 8.0.0, compiled by soopy452000). It is appear when your client established connections with clients from alien chains ("subver" : Satoshi:0.6.3, Satoshi:0.8.5, DigitalcoinV3.0:3.0.1, WorldcoinFoundation:0.8.6.2...), you can avoid such problem by blocking  their ports (9538, 9556, 9336, 7999, 11081). Will be fixed in client on a new codebase.
