Hi can someone help, I'm trying to mine 42 solo, but I keep getting Invalid user when I start up CgMiner.
I haven't had any problems mining other coins solo. I've set up the conf file as you normally would have tried many time but to no avail.

Litecoin can be exchanged directly for established currencies such as USD and GBP etc. Surely that's the major difference..? But even so, if you check the charts it's value is almost a perfect mirror for Bitcoin.

what you are saying is pure speculation. if we follow you, we don't need any more alt coins, ever. we will know the value even before it's released, just calculate by your formula. we can even create alt coin with certain value if we want just by using the formula..
maybe devs of new alt coins need to utilize your formula in their announcements, just to show how valuable is their coin -.-
the coin is worth as much as one is willing to pay for it. and there is no math in the world to calculate how much one is willing to pay for the coin.

yea i just keep wondering if they are dumping their coin from the start of if this is doing of a few hackers who robbed the pools? or the worst is the community bored of this? i am holding some not at the worst price but im not in profit now ofc and mining this coin simpy just doestnt pay out since WE the community have to mine those high diff block and when it changes to low multipools jusk kick it back to just pay electricity ...
THIS COIN NEED SOME PROTECTION FROM MULTIPOOLS !! otherwise it will die like it is!

BTC max number of coins divided by target coin's max number of coins. Then divide by 1000.

true value of the coin can't be calculated. it is worth exactly as much as one is willing to pay for it. not a penny more, not a penny less..
I remember a year ago when value of the coin was calculated trough electricity needed to produce them and comparing with electricity needed to produce bitcoin..
If you could calculate value of alt coin, it will loose the purpose.

when this is caused through sells of the hacks....

Supply is increasing on a daily basis due to mining, there is no reason for demand to increase after the initial buzz and even if demand remained static prices would drop as supply goes up.
As prices drop further, some who held at over 1000 will sell rather than risk losing all they have!
In order for demand to increase, the coin needs publicity - national news, Keiser report etc etc.
The business insider article is difficult to find from the BI home page and has been read by less than 10000 people - mostly from this thread I suspect (this thread has over 50k views).
One other issue is that the coin has a name which is difficult to search for - try googling 42 or even search for 42 on business insider and you will see what I mean.
This could be aided by always referring to the coin as 42COIN with no spaces!

Taking profits I would have thought. Or liquidating some coins from hacks? To be fair the coins economy hasn't developed enough to justify wild swings just upwards.

relax. i saw you're message this morning. im at college 9-5 and only get on the pc for 2 hours a day lately. thats 2 hours to check the pools are safe running well sort through issues etc. jump on IRC on freenode #cryptopools and ill get you're password or pin or whatever u need reset when im online.
