Yessir.
I've been working on a WordPress plugin that adds a donation block at the end of each of your posts. It looks really good, but I have a slight bug to get rid of before it is ready for prime-time. You can peek at it on my site at http://garycalvert.com - Just don't click the links on the donate button, QR code or wallet address as they will give you an error in Firefox and do nothing at all in Chrome, which is the bug I'm working on tonight.

Should be ready for download sometime tomorrow. If anyone is interested, I'll post the download to it here when I get it zipped up and loaded to the site.

Got part of my test miner in the mail yesterday - One of the small gridseeds. Hooked it to my old laptop and its been hashing away and finding blocks at one of Edric's other coin pools (really low difficulty) for the last 20 hours or so. Now I am just waiting for my Raspberry Pi and the other Gridseeds, so I can do some semi-serious mining. A new toy that will have to find a corner in my new office.

BTW, the plugin is called OctoTips.

EDIT: That was easier than I thought it would be. Some code for future features was left in where it didn't need to be. Stripped it out and the plugin is ready to go. I'll create a zip archive and FTP it tonight. I'll do a blog post about it tomorrow and post the download link there and here on the forum.

Wow.. that sounds interesting. Can't wait to see it! When you are finished let us know and we will add it to our website with your 888 address!

Octo-Chance is coming very soon, kinda got put on hold because the coins I was hanging onto for testing went back to the pool, then PC broke down, etc. I'm taking zero chances with this one, so I still have some testing to do, then (since I don't have coins) gather up some investors to make the game functional (doesn't function without actual investments into the system, you can track investments/profits/losses on an individual user basis as well as system wide, all it needs to be officially "finished" is an actual admin interface, for if someone locks themselves out of their account I don't have to "hack" them back in, hehe). There's some extra security measures that will be going up with the official launch as well, which will affect other things on the same system, security's going to be tighter than all my previous services, one by one other services that may be lacking will be brought up to the "new standard" (which I'm working on a list of things that need to be done better/safer, enhanced ddos/hacking protection, the whole package). Current security measures are adequate enough and the sun would run out of gas before anyone could bruteforce anything usable to compromise any of my servers, but seeing as how my future plans call for "more servers" and "more pools and services", the words "adequate security" don't help me sleep any better, so existing services will get the bulletproofing treatment, then I'll work out my "template" for future projects. That reminds me, too, that I have a pretty much turn-key poolserver "template" on DigitalOcean, and they now allow for people to transfer them to each other, if anyone is interested. It saves tons of time when you can just deploy a system image with everything you need, minus fetching new MPOS commits and apt-get updates and your wallet. Just need to sanitize some stuff on my existing template and get it updated.

Nice to hear that my name suggestion won Smiley

Not sure if you still have the 1000 Octo bounty you mentioned before for the name, however I would prefer that you keep it seeing as you're pretty much all out. When you get the game up and running, I will invest some of my Octos into it

Haha, yes, the bounty is yours... Once I have it, lol.. I'll try to get it running today but don't have any coin to test it out with, there's been some updates and I prefer to test thoroughly but there shouldn't be issues. I'll report back when ready!

i cant wait 1 more week and i will be mining again, i went from a milk crate, to a dragon miner that caught fire, to a 26mh scrypt that i paid for today Cool.wont start till the first, so far what has me excited is all those new coins i saw on fusion hash - is it wrong to want a fusion hash multi-pool? is that bad or good for the coins? is there a mining etiquette for this coin? i have never mined a single alt in my life Cheesy

We are opposed to a scrypt multipool but the OctoCoin devs have reached out to us inquiring about potentially creating a Scrypt-N/X11 pool that would auto-trade what you mined for OctoCoin. The purpose of this would be to make mining with GPUs more efficient again while the scrypt ASICs can continue to mine OctoCoin directly. The primary hurdles are the current lack of OctoCoin sell orders and the possibility that driving the price up by constantly auto-buying OctoCoins on low-volume exchanges would open the door for both direct and indirect manipulation including, but not limited to, the traditional multipools hitting OctoCoin and selling back to us at the (now-inflated) price. If we did this for OctoCoin, we would likely do the same for Murraycoin, Anoncoin, and Megacoin. Based on our latest discussion with the Murraycoin dev, they are apparently planning to implement proof-of-stake in their next release - if they intend to transition to PoS-only (we don't know the final specs) we would definitely create a Murraycoin multipool so people can continue to mine. The Murraycoin dev is an investor in our dedicated cloud mining operation.

oh wait i think this says i will be ok, right? sorry guys give me a year or so,, if u saw me 4 months ago u would agree that i have tried to get as much of this as i could.
Don't be sorry... you're learning. We all had to learn, lucky for you, you're in a good community here. Lots of helpful people in this one vs ALL the others. To answer your next post about X11 see here: http://suchpool.pw/docs/gettingstartedX11.pdf

what is x11? what is dev?

X11- A new algorithm for altcoins. It consumes lower amounts of electricity, has higher hashrates compared to scrypt or scrypt-n, and appears to be ASIC resistant for now.

Dev- Short for Developer, in this case being @OctoCoin.

Correct me if I have made a mistake please

will i be able to use my miner?? i think from what i just read the answer is going to be no... i am kinda freaking out

The answer is irrelevant, because the scrypt-n/x11 multipool proposal does not affect OctoCoin's algorithm.

OctoCoin will remain scrypt - no need to freak out, just reread.

ok thank you while you were typing i went back and found a fusion hash post

Just a brief update for those of you still waiting for the new OS X Qt client: We are struggling with the final steps in the QT build process. OctoCoin 1.8 uses Qt 5.2.1 which must be custom built for OS X. The newest OctoCoin OS X Qt client will be 64-bit only and somewhere along the way we are still hitting some snags with the x86_64 architecture and associated dependencies/libs. In any case, the OS X Qt client should be released soon and, as a bonus, it will be a pretty simple process for us to port it over to iOS as well - thank you for your patience.

Ooooo... and X11 multi with OctoCoin payout is what I have been waiting for.

My power goes up another tier in the summer so running all my rigs on scrypt gets expensive.

FH mentioned it, and I mentioned it too in my last post, been thinking of getting something very similar set up, without blatantly copycatting or creating rivalries, I'd like to offer something with at least one or two unique features, but Octo would definitely have to be on the menu. And yeah, I hear you on the power bill.. I threw in a bit on the last one, which didn't include my 1300-ish watts, 2MH scrypt mining. I'm mining at a negative profit at the moment too, lol. Well, not actually, but will still be broke in 2 weeks so I'm about to start really hitting the keyboard hard. Lots of stuff to do before I can even sit down, write down ideas, and commit to a multipool project, but the time is rapidly approaching where even a small pool op like me needs a Multipool as well, everyone's got one. Gotta figure out what will make it special and some unique features (without money to burn on help!) to attract a solid userbase, plus be able to pay users enough to justify their staying with my pool, and still make a bit of profit. I do have an idea to go along with it, and it's CRAZY, but if it works will save a ton of money on fees that normal auto-exchange pools have to pay. Won't go into too much more detail but it's probably easy to work out what I mean.

ok, nap time for real this time.
