Another vote for Greekpool.eu here. I switched from nitro to them and they are fine for me.

Had problems with leetpools like others, payout rate is slower than expected due to orphans.

I even got one of those phantom blocks where I got all 50 block reward Cheesy

Spread the love

Spread the HASH!

The best solution to this problem is already posted by dwolfx.

Opening of a ultra2.nitro.org would solve this problem very quickly.

Being a pool op myself. Here is my assessment of running an ultra2 at nitro. Is it easy for them to set-up a second stratum? Yes. Can they redeploy a second MPOS instance to run with that second stratum? Yes.

Thats fine and great, BUT (Not that I'm opposed to the idea but we need to be realistic, a second pool for nitro is a great idea... BUT) That would require the miners to change the port/address in their miners... which brings us back to the original issue: WE HAVE PLENTY OF POOLS. Even if Nitro was to go through the trouble of setting up a second pool, his users would have to register and change their shit anyway... SO wouldn't it just make more sense if they would go through the trouble anyway of editing their .bat for nitro2... why not just go to another pool?

...wait my spidey senses are tingling....

"BUT WHAT IF THE POOL OPS USE THEIR MAGIC SKILLS AND JUST TUNNEL EVERYONE OVER TO NITRO2?"

Well they could make it a shared stratum... but then the blocks found on one, would be the same on the other. SO WE ARE BACK TO SQUARE ONE.

Yep, I see the same problem.

Nitro would have to use one database, but 2 stratum+ wallets.

Haven't seen thats possible out of the box with MPOS.

But Load-balancing between the 2 stratum would be easy then with DNS Round Robin.

nitro needs second pool to keep its customers, errr miners. so unless nitro up's the fee slightly while they employ the second pool, no one's gonna move. nitro doesnt want to lose too many people from nitro 1 as the miners move pools, so they would have to monitor hashrates closely to draw the line when they should stop. if nitro handles this correctly, informing the miners what they plan to do couple days before they carry out their plans if raising fees, they won't lose that many miners.

Bitcoin Checker app for Android now has UTC support. It has an awesome widget and notification system for monitoring Ultracoin across MintPal/Cryptsy/CT as well as any other coins.

Agreed.

Another thought: Could this Nitro problem is part of the reason why everyone is blaming leet for stealing "50%" of their minings because of the orphan rate combined with natural fluctuations in hashrate and luck of pool finding blocks? If so, it's giving leet a bad name and the other pools that are "stealing minings".

So Nitro 2 again is perfect solution, but unless you can get "stuck" miners to move and keep registration closed for main site until hashes are spread better, its just like opening up yet another mining pool and problem still exists. I reallllly hope Nitro 2 works. 90% of my mining UTC has been with leet, but i signed up for nitro to compare cuz i was curious why I was getting less coins than leet predicted and I noticed the amount of orphans on leet. I left nitro when I found 2 blocks in 2 days on 170kh (half my rig) and got paid 100% for them. I knew that couldn't possibly be good for the community so I switched back 100% to leet.
