jakiman is back!
I just requested C-CEX.com to add UTC to their exchange via Twitter.  Grin

Their site is clean and quite fast with every coin having a USD trading pair!
They also have every coin trading against every other coin! Pretty darn cool.

Just an update on the website redesign. Should be ready this weekend. Smiley Just have to place the remaining content and tidy up some CSS oddities. I'll keep you all posted!

Good News, thanks for the hard work.

Hi everyone! Does anybody knows what is the reason for this madness with mining pools. Leetpool is down (again), nitro is mining but at rate of 150% oversharing blocks. It seems that nitro got more than 90% of nethashpower. I think its NOT a healthy mining.

good work thanks,
I was starting to think about swapping coins,
as my wattage vs coins generated are no longer paying off
how ever I no longer have accurate way of knowing what power my current consumption is as its very hot weather and most GPU's idling under 500 mhz @ 70+ deg )

71.0 c 100% 260 Kh/s 103263 / 2266    2.15% 290 Series 85% 654.47 Mhz
70.0 c 100% 200 Kh/s 80850 / 1626   1.97% 290 Series 85% 516.15 Mhz
test rig on watt meter 460 kh/s 310 watts ( excluding PC power GPU's only )
full load is around 800 watts total , I need about 2 coins per kw watt to break even

78.0 c 100% 310 Kh/s 121402 / 5097    4.03% 290 Series 85% 840 Mhz
76.0 c 100% 270 Kh/s 105589 / 4792 4.34% 290 Series 85% 866.15 Mhz
sample of average GPU's running under 80 deg / air temp 44 deg
assuming around 290 watts +-10 watts per GPU at those speeds

coins are really dropping off, I am hoping more big miners drop  out on nxt NFactore change due to HW errors Tongue ( more coin for me Tongue

It is easier to adjust settings if you know when you need to. I'm mining with a couple laptop GPU's and my desktops crusty HD 5450, started at 55kh/s and i'm down to 35kh/s total now. I have mined 51 UTC so far, mining for fun more than profit.

Some of the things that I think bumface/ziggy needs to do from my point of view:

1. Explain more about the N-factor. MANY people does not know about this.

We need to know the dates of when the N-factor changes for UTC and what that implies.
It's a BIG part of UTC so I don't understand how this is not explained on the OP from day 1.
bumface, you told me you'll speak to ziggy about this 3 days ago? What happened?

I'll post my N-factor timetable again, derived from the code in https://github.com/ziggy909/ultracoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp starting at line 994. I made a little javascript loop with the same calculations starting with Ultracoins sj-time.

Code:
var sjtime = 1388361600;
var Ntime;
var l = 0;
var seconds = 0;
var s = 0;
var n = 0;
var N = 0;
var last = 8; // no output until N=9

while (seconds < 12884901888)
{
    seconds += 1;
    s = seconds;
    l = 0;
    n = 0;
    N = 0;

    while ((s >> 1) > 3)
    {
      l += 1;
      s >>= 1;
    }

    s &= 3;
    n = (l * 170 + s * 25 - 2320) / 100;
    if (n < 0) n = 0;
    N = Math.floor(n);

    if (N > last)
    {
    last = N;
    Ntime = new Date(sjtime*1000 + seconds*1000);
    //print("N-Factor :" + N + " significant digits :" + l + " leftovers :" + s + " raw N :" + n + " Seconds from start :" + seconds);
    print("N-Factor :" + N + " Date :" + Ntime.toUTCString());
    }
}

This is the output (i used a javascript console bookmarklet in firefox, it shut down the script before it got past N-factor 17)

Code:
N-Factor :9    Date :Thu, 23 Jan 2014 06:32:32 GMT
N-Factor :10   Date :Sun, 16 Feb 2014 13:05:04 GMT
N-Factor :11   Date :Fri, 28 Feb 2014 16:21:20 GMT
N-Factor :12   Date :Sun, 06 Apr 2014 02:10:08 GMT
N-Factor :13   Date :Sat, 24 May 2014 15:15:12 GMT
N-Factor :14   Date :Sat, 12 Jul 2014 04:20:16 GMT
N-Factor :15   Date :Thu, 22 Jan 2015 08:40:32 GMT
N-Factor :16   Date :Wed, 29 Apr 2015 10:50:40 GMT
N-Factor :17   Date :Sun, 14 Feb 2016 17:21:04 GMT

The next N-factor increase should be on the 28th of this month.

At this point in time, the famous 1.6 million UTC make up a third of the existing market cap and is getting smaller all the time.  I don't know about you, but where I come from it is actually rude to ask about someone else's private money matters.  Anyone who really thinks that they have a "right" to know what someone else does with their money, needs to give their head a really good shake.

Well I guess all the stakeholders agreed to make them rich even before the coin was launched. I'm not complaining. I benefited also. Grin

2. High overview of the upcoming plans / ETA / updates in OP. (Create a DEV UPDATE section on the OP)

You can't just keep complaining to us that you spend 10 hours per day on UTC but tell us so little of what you do.
We are not saying you do nothing. Maybe you do a lot as you say.But we can't tell as maybe it's too dispersed. (chats, twitter etc)
As I said before, just communicate less but in a more professional and efficient way maybe. It'll make your life easier.
Formal updates in the OP and saying when your next update might be would be a good start. (it doesn't have to be daily!)

For both points, just look at Vertcoin's OP as an example. (might not be BEST example but it's there at least)

---

He made a nice coin. I guess many of us are frustrated at not knowing what he will do with all the money he got from the IPO.
1.6 million x 0.00005 BTC = 80 BTC. We know he bought a 25MH/s Alpha Scrypt ASIC and paid some guy for the web site etc.
We know they are keeping some of the BTC to "recoup" their costs in addition to the extra 100000 UTC they got each from premine.

Stakeholders basically paid them to do a good job of improving this coin for the longer term even before coin's launch.
Now it would actually be nice to know where some of our money went to or are going to. Is that so much to ask?
We don't need to know the exact figures. Just "some BTC went to exchange A, more BTC went to exchange B, some to pump UTC" etc.

All this info should be in the OP.

NOT somewhere in page 234 of this thread like all of his other so called updates (letting off steam).
Also, even some non-direct updates (mobile wallet being created by a community member etc) should be posted IMO.

BTW, bumface, I still think you are genuine and are doing good to improve Ultracoin.
Just do yourself a favor by spending some of that 10 hours to the OP of this thread.

Here is a great explanation of N-Factor. My understanding is that we are currently at N-Factor 11.

That's awesome. Thanks.

This should be added to the OP maybe along with that blog's link for information or in Ziggy's own words.

Well the link is straight to the github source for the QT-wallet for ultracoin. I just modified it to spit out dates when the N-factor changes instead of checking the current date against the start time to get the current N-factor. Hopefully bumface or ziggy909 can verify its accuracy.

EDIT: the blog post from my first calculation by hand is http://www.holynerdvana.com/2014/02/everything-you-wanted-to-know-about.html?showComment=1392690143408#c7446463924638643266 which did provide a lot of useful information.

Coin development is a shining example of a grassroots project, all.

Part of growing something is our responsibility.

Build something around UTC; e.g., services, apps, utility in general, and report (spread the word).

LTC's the 2nd largest market cap out there (I ignore Ripple) and their progress through the above items has been glacial-paced.  The community is full of holders begging for Charles to do this or that, but in the end, he's just one man with a day job.  Togami also has his hands very full with the skunkworks of LTC.

The devs can only do so much before it's the community's responsibility to prove they believe in it, too.  Invest your time if it's important to you.

I've said it before, but you have a memorial wall of dead coins right in front of you, everyday, all year long at Bitcoin Forum > Other > Alternate cryptocurrencies.

Where was their backup?

I won't even add any comments to the below clips, outside of an initial two comments / questions: If the BTC is already re-invested in non-UTC related activities, how does that help the coin in the short term? My 2nd comment is about the time spent on the coin that was claimed, but not exactly explained. Communications is important, like it or not, and if Bumface doesn't want to constantly explain everything done, then appoint someone to communicate. Answering 40 messages a day hardly brings sympathy.

i have invested a large sum of my btc from the stakes in scrypt asics so i will have money to spend on UTC developments( websites, games services), i told you guys we are thinking about the future, and as far as 2015

Ive been reading through the last pages and to be honest im a little insulted.People say do more, promote more, give news every day....I am working 10 hours per day on UTC and to hear this kind of news is disheartening.Every day i wake up, and i have 10 PM`s on btc-e to answer, 10 on bitcointalk, 10/20 e mails.Answering all this takes so much time that i have less time to spend on UTC, so these suggestions are actually creating the thing you are "observing"

perhaps you can imagine that i need some me-time after spending 10 hours per day on UTC  for 3 months now?

People are behaving like children wanting a braveheart speech every day,and its making me very crancky,i am nobodys leader and i am not your guru.

reading how im not doing enough is very insulting, since my entire life currently revolves around UTC.

So people who want some kind of great news every day are very unrealistic since i just explained the 99/1% ratio this would mean that i am working 100 hours per day, which is humanly impossible.....

there are only somany hours in the day,but nobody can tell i am not doing enough, because its simply not true.

If i wanted to i could make a coin with 99% fluff and 1% content and perhaps it would grow faster then UTC

Is there a subreddit for ultracoin?

never mind, I found it - it's official_utc. I think there should be one called ultracoin that's managed by the community. This is typically how other coins handle reddit. I'd appreciate everyone's thoughts on this.
