Looks like Bitcoin Cash is about to get listed on Gemini. Basically when you login it has the pair shown trading against BCHUSD, BCHBTC, BCHETH, etc.

Wondering if this will cause any pump because it doesn't look like the Litecoin listing had much effect. However the litecoin listing we all knew ahead of time when it would happen. But if its anything like the ZEC listing then it should create alot of demand for BCH.

If Bitcoin Cash will have 2nd layer scaling, then what was the point of Bitcoin Cash?

(Most of) the Bitcoin Cash supporters are not / were never against 2nd layer scaling. We were against a stupid form of second layer scaling that is incapable of scaling in a timely manner. We were against a form of scaling that inserted a trojan into the very base Bitcoin protocol. We were against a form of scaling that made radical changes to the base protocol. We were against a form of scaling that made it much easier to shoehorn in further controversial changes to the base protocol.

Mostly, the point of Bitcoin Cash was to rescue satoshi's innovation from The Segwit Omnibus Changeset.

Nigel Tufnel:
Well, I suppose I could work in a shop of some kind or... or do um... freelance... selling of some sort of... um... product, you know...

Marty DiBergi:
A salesman, you think you...

Nigel Tufnel:
A salesman, like, mabye in a haberdasher, or maybe like a... um, a chapeau shop, or something... you know, like: "Would you... what size do you wear, sir?" and then you answer me.

Marty DiBergi:
Uh... seven and a quarter.

Nigel Tufnel:
"I think we have that...", you see, something like that I could do.

Marty DiBergi:
Yeah... you think you'd be happy doing something like-...

Nigel Tufnel:
"No! We're all out, do you wear black?", see, that sort of thing, I think I could probably muster up.

Marty DiBergi:
Yeah, do you think you'd be happy doing that?

Nigel Tufnel:
Well, I don't know, wh-wh-what are the hours?

If Bitcoin Cash will have 2nd layer scaling, then what was the point of Bitcoin Cash?

(Most of) the Bitcoin Cash supporters are not / were never exactly against 2nd layer scaling. We were against a stupid form of scaling that is incapable of scaling in a timely manner. We were against a form of scaling that inserted a trojan into the very base Bitcoin protocol. We were against a form of scaling that made radical changes to the base protocol. I like this project;  I think it will do okay maybe.
Can anyone tell me where to apply for the free BCash from my Bitcoin?  Please.

There is no 'apply'. For every Bitcoin you owned -- as in held the private key thereof -- on the date of the fork, you own(ed) one Bitcoin Segwit and one Bitcoin Cash immediately after the fork. The single key work(ed) on both chains.

If you have any key corresponding to a UTXO before the fork, the corresponding Bitcoin can be 'split' into an equal number of Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Segwit, simply by importing that key into both a Bitcoin Cash wallet and a Bitcoin Segwit wallet, and spending them to new addresses on each chain.

There is an exposure, in that in the time between the key is redeemed on one chain, and the time it is redeemed on the other, another party could conceivably replay one of the transactions expected to be on one chain on the other chain instead. The chance of this is probably lower than ever now, as the volume of such transactions is a lot lower than back at the fork time, making this more labor intensive for any such miscreant.

Replay can be guarded completely against by including a bit of post-fork UTXO along with your pre-fork UTXO. By including some post-fork content, your tx will be invalid on the other chain, thereby preventing the possibility of replay.

Any Bitcoin transacted after the fork is unlikely to be able to be split. If you still have the key that stayed valid from pre-fork to post-fork (in your possession at the fork date, only spent thereafter), you can attempt to split it by importing into a Bitcoin Cash wallet, and spending to yourself. However, this is predicated on no replay having been done in the meantime. But hey - it's worth a try.

then what was the point of Bitcoin Cash?
The point was a doomed-from-the-start attempt to hobble the real bitcoin.
Now weirdly the real bitcoin is not mentioned in this 'research': https://blog.bitmex.com/bitcoin-cores-competition/
But you can find it here http://thebitcoin.foundation/index.html

It seems more lucrative for the Bitcoin powers-that-be to encourage more people onto segwit, to increase the booty.

Don't worry, it's only the matter of time before it gets off of the top ten. Wink

No. Tracing its heritage to the Satoshi Genesis Block, Bitcoin Cash is the oldest cryptocurrency. A title it shares with Bitcoin Segwit.

Coinmarketcap, a hundred other coin websites, everybody sane and all of reality disagrees with you.

Coinmarketcap states that Bitcoin Cash is not the oldest cryptocurrency? News to me. How about a link to support your assertion?

Here you go: Bcash, opened for trading on major exchanges on July 24, 2017.

Evidently, at least one two of us here does not realize there is a difference between a ticker symbol and a coin with an underlying blockchain. And it ain't me.

IOW: nice try. You wanna take another shot?
